Buses Trains & Metrolink In Greater Manchester | June 2024

A snapshot of the ever changing transport scene in Greater Manchester, filmed in June 2024. The most noticeable thing on leaving Piccadilly Station is the absence of Optare Versas on Free Bus 1 and 2 around the City Centre, the hybrids having held sway for nearly 14 years along with a handful of all electric 14 plates have given way to Scania Omnicity double deckers (and short clips of a couple of rides are included for the novelty factor), although a standard E200 single decker was also seen. In a rather nice gesture, Stagecoach have recently repainted an Enviro 400 double decker into the former GM Buses livery, showing a marked contrast to the current Bee Network scheme. There is also an E400 painted in the erstwhile North Western colours which also features. Locations this time are the City Centre, Stretford, Oldham, Cheetham Hill and Salford. The new bus station at Oldham is on two adjoining sites and contains many brand new vehicles showing a real investment in public transport in the area.
