I can't thank you enough for posting this video. This is the only fix I could find on the Internet for this problem I was having with my Takamine EN20. The advice about re-tightening the screws after replacing the strings did it for me.
Hi If you have some experience with palathetic pickups on F series, could you offer some advice? I am working on an FP 592 ME series Tak that I received with the endpin removed. I wired up the endpin properly to the best of my knowledge. When I tested a signal from my ipad jack through the endpin circuit and out to an amp, it played very clearly. When I hooked it up to the old pre amp it gave no signal to the amp. I purchased another pre amp, a CT4-BII , supposedly compatible with the guitar pickup system and found when I hooked up the output jack, the tuner worked on a strung guitar but no sound came out of my acoustic amp. I disengaged the muting function of the tuner and still no sound. Is the muting function still engaging on the new pre amp despite the light indicator being off? I took out the palathetic pickup and removed any tarnish that I saw on all applicable parts. I am not sure what to try next. Replace the piezo elements and holders, the whole pickup? Rewire the pickup? The wiring looks solid. There is no grounding hum. A small clunk noise when I slide the volume slider but nothing else. I found a trs aux cable with an RCA end and tried to send an audio signal through the new preamp with very muted success, some sound but extremely low. Furthermore, I tested a separate trs cable in isolation and it played a clear audio signal to my amp. Not sure what my next steps are. If I have to buy a new palathetic pickup or just the piezo strip,
This is such a great video, thank you for sharing it. The problem I’m having with my 1983 Takemine is, distortion. Obviously I have changed the battery and tried playing it through various amps and P A setups. I was wondering if you had come across this problem before. Thank you for the great service you are providing. Best Regards.
Great video. I have an owned since new a Takamine Santa-Fe (TSF48C) with the Palathetic under-saddle pickup. The built in tuner quit registering a signal and no sound when I plug it into my amp at all. It is an original guitar with the CPT-2 electronics/pre amp setup. Is there a way I can determine which (pick-up or pre-amp) is the source of failure? I'm leaning towards rolling the dice & just ordering a new CPT-3 pre-amp & hoping it resolves the problem. Thanks in advance!
Some of the Cool-Tubes were prone to failure, so I wouldn't doubt that's the problem. But you can easily test the pickup passively. Remove your preamp and use an RCA to 1/4" mono adapter. You can run it straight into your amp and check if the pickup is working. Hope that helps!
Hi, i have a CP132SC classical (discontinued) and cannot find much about the pickup. Not even sure what is in there, but cannot see any screws etc on the top. I have the dreaded ground hum all of a sudden and am in the NYC area. Any ideas on what the issue is or if there is a service center near me? Thanks for the great videos!

My g series sounds like a very small tambourine since it was at the luthier. And the pick-up no longer works. I wonder would it be a loose wire from the pick up? It could also be a small tambourine in the form of a loose washer perhaps. I am not well versed on these things... Yet.
hi do you happen to have services that can install a takamine pick up in an emerald acoustic guitar? its a carbon fiber guitar. my luthier doesn't want to touch it cause he's never installed a pick on a carbon fiber body
#2 J.I.S. is the correct screw driver. A Phillips #2 will work, do NOT use a #1 as it could cause a stripped screw head. (Although these aren't likely tight enough to have an issue)
Hi any advice for a battery that doesn’t always connect, I’ve pulled the connectors up a few time which is a temp fix, but would love any suggestions for a permanent fix🙏

My NP18C just suddenly quit on me after hearing some distortion the day before. Went through this process but no improvement. Had the jack replaced just last year. Tried 3 other working preamps from my other Taks in it and nothing, however the tuner is reading on my CTP-2… any ideas?
Good info video by you actually I'm facing same issue noise humm ground issue so do I need to change saddle pick up or there can be issue in pre-amp also??..???
I would definitely recommend it, yes. It's also possible that there's a low spot on the saddle itself where it would contact the pickup element. Or if there any loose shims under the saddle it could cause this problem too.

I’ve clean a few old takamines, and they work beautifully. I love my old takes .

Check the metal caps and grounding strip for corrosion. Clean as necessary and reassemble.

Any solution to a Takamine E349 pickup buzzing a lot?
Can I use a Takamine preamp with a fishman pickup?
Could you post a video about split bridge shim removal for action lowering?
If it's a Japanese model there shouldn't be any shims under the saddles. G series models do come stock with shims though.
Me fue de gran ayuda, muchas gracias
Purchased an old SW341 takamine recently with low output from the a string. Do you recommend this technique for that as well?
I would definitely recommend it, yes. It's also possible that there's a low spot on the saddle itself where it would contact the pickup element. Or if there any loose shims under the saddle it could cause this problem too.

Where can I find a replacement for the metal strip under the saddle
Send a message to Addicted to Tone on eBay or reverb. He doesn't stock them in store, but he can get them for you!
What size screws are those?
3mm
@@Choochlyman are they machine style screws?
@@rodrigosantiago2380 yes, I use cap screws.
Check out the correct pronunciation of Piezo...you will benefit from this.
