Dr Lawson - I can’t tell you how perfectly timed this was in my life. I became an assistant pastor at the church where I became a deacon a couple years earlier. After 31 years working for the government I left to take the assistant pastor position where my former assistant became the lead. We were a happy seemingly likeminded church. Two years in and a church employee committed sexual immorality and everything changed. Doctrine went out the window. The folks with seemingly strong convictions withered when it came to church discipline and only wanted to love this person causing even more harm in their life. This has been a fight I’ve been waging for 6 months - doctrinal error leading the way - and now I’m alone except for a few men. The difference is - I’m the assistant not the lead. So my time is almost up here. But you spoke about many parallels in my situation and it greatly encouraged me. I first watched you on RUclips teach an expository preaching class at Master’s. That changed my life. Thanks for your ministry! Praying God continues to bless it!

I know your comment is a year old, but it hit me hard and I am praying for you today. I too was blessed by Dr. Lawson's willingness to share his experience and by yours. Thank you for being faithful. I hope that God has already used this situation for good in your life in a way where you can clearly recognize His hand and praise His name.
I find myself in a somewhat similar situation to what you described. I am an associate/youth pastor who recently served under godly lead pastor who was forced to resign. Some church leaders strongly opposed him primarily because he stood on the authority of the Bible and the doctrine of the church. It was his first senior pastorate and he did make some mistakes, but the real issue appeared to be his biblical convictions. I supported the lead pastor, but he chose to take all the blame. Basically, he won the battle over orthodoxy (at least temporarily) at the cost of his job. I thought about leaving when he left, but ultimately came to the conviction that God wanted me to stay and try to support the next lead pastor. I am still waiting for the next senior pastor, praying for God's wisdom, and steeling myself for battle.
At any rate, please know that you have encouraged me. It is good to hear of other men who are seeking to serve faithfully in the role of an associate pastor. May God bless you as you serve and follow Him.

Amen, a very great help for young ministers of the gospel to stand and fight for what the scriptures say regardless of the consequences

Thank you for continuing to speak of you ministry history. I have much respect for you and your teaching. I did all of Romans and need to do it again. I think my 70 year old brain was about to need more giga bytes or whatever they call space. Thank you so much.
