At least the legs are articulate, the design of this has of a Turn-A look at least for the shield. I'm sorry that your pet died, I did not know it was more than a few months this year.
Welcome Back Citrus! I honestly missed your reviews. Got my hands on one of the new reprints of the Adele from Gundam Age off your review! Can't wait to get it and have a crack at it :D
I really like the design notes of this version of rx78 and how they tried hard to engineer feats from the anime while trying to make it plausible for real life explanations. Ex. Leg articulation despite the skirt being immobile which holds true to the anime
despite years later I still dont have this kit. But ngl when i do, the first thing im going to do is to glue everything.tighten the joints, and have myself an Action figure
Glad to see that you're back! Really missed your videos! As for the g40, I really wish they made a mg of the design cause at this point it's very hard to get (at least here in germany), really expensive (at least here) and for a hg it just doesn't stand out enough to warrant picking it over any of the other solid hg rx78 kits available for half the price
I love this design, and I think the engineering makes it so dynamic, you could accomplish so much with how it operates. I wish I could get a copy of it for reasonable AUD.
I love the Y2K Soundtrack you put in. Especially it reminds me soo much of Ace Combat 3 ost. Except AC 3 is more eerie and depressing. But im really glad you came back.
I have this kit, and was really excited to get to it. However, upon building and playing around with it afterwards, my feelings towards it are fairly mixed. But I'm not ashamed to have gotten it.
Lovely review as always, thank you, and have a nice day The idea of a solid skirt for the gundam does appeal to me, because I often find that they can look silly once you have to really move them But they needed to make it more flexible somehow, and they didn't Making it out of rubber, for example, would be even more accurate to the anime, although making parts of rubber basically never happens now Or even just giving the entire block a balljoint seperate from the hips, so it can move up and down a little They went absolutely crazy with this kit, if only they didn't flop some of the execution
Hey brah, good to see you back. I see its been a month since the video was posted, sadly YT didn't notify me... That's why I check on my own sometimes. In the meantime I uploaded some of my own PG builds inspired by your stuff, but I didn't insert any music cuz of copyright strikes, and I evade commenting cuz I don't have such a calming voice, lol. Accidentally I probably turned my stuff into ASMR...
Mr Citrus, bit of a problem for me, I ordered a O.Y.W MG rx 78 and the box came looking like someone played soccer with it, I'm getting a new kit for free because of it, but the damaged one is missing the transparent bit inside the head where the faceplate and eye sticker goes on together with the camera, any ideas on how to make it work without that bit?
@@citrusjuicebox Thanks for the advice Citrus, the online store actually sent me a whole new kit for free because the one they sent first had a destroyed box with several parts cracked, like the beam rifle and some missing head parts.
Might look awkward but it could be useful for drawing I feel like the hg doesn't fully interpret Okuyama's design and prioritizes articulation over the design.
The Industrial Design is a nicer look than the original model design in the 1979 series but I still think I prefer the Origin (manga) version of the 78-2. I like the story of the original MSG but the way the original Gundam was drawn in that series was always awkward to me. The Zeon mecha designs from original MSG held up better than the Federation designs which are much better in the sequel series, IMHO. The way the revised RX-78 was drawn in 0080 and 0083 was more attractive.
The way they are designed is to somewhat make the movements the rx78 made in the anime make sense in real life with the limitations of the anime rx78 still being in place like how the g40 got its legs to articulate while keeping the fact that the skirts don't move similar to the anime portrayal. Reading the design notes and the interview would make more sense in what I'm trying to talk about.
@@masterkent1 I have the kit, I just wish it had more budget for its engineering. Anime accurate isn’t for everyone, yes it’s iconic but that doesn’t mean it’ll make a good model.
Citrus, great video. Im always looking forward to them. Few questions. Did you do all the paint detail with the 3 metallic markers? If so, how did you prevented the bleed over? Thank you.
the g40 kit wasn't meant to look good, it was only meant to have great articulation. So the look of the kit in poses wasn't taken into account, mainly just the articulation of the kit.
No, Ken Okuyama made it pretty clear that the MO of his design is to produce very organic-looking poses. Unfortunately, most of said poses only look good from one or two angles.
Please excuse the awful audio quality! After recovering the file and cleaning up artifacts, this was the absolute best I could manage. 🙏
Don't worry about it. 👍
I don't really mind the awful video quality though. If the video still can be watchable and hearable.
For me, I don't really think it's bad audio quality or bad footage, this is great content! Also thanks for posting again.

Yes! Everything has finally settled down, it seems, so I'll have more time to build kits and review them!
@@citrusjuicebox Terrific, I've missed your unique presentation style. Looking forward to what you have in store for us.
after tightening ever single major joint this kit the king of on the groung sword poses. i can replicate alot of megaman zero poses

Our best and calm gunpla channel is finally back!
Babe, wake up....
New Citrus re-Upload.
Had to do it! Don't know how I missed it the first time, but there was a nasty high-pitched throughout most of my voice over in the first upload.
In term of building experience, this kit felt refreshing~

There was a fairly recent reprint for this kit, so prices shouldn't be too bad now
Glad you're back!!! Great review as always!!!

You can use some epoxy or putty to fill the void between the "helmet" and the "face," and then maybe put the eye sticker over it?

Yes, a higher scale would've been able to represent the original design's details much better.
welcome back!

The joints are extremely interesting though. Like, the the hand connectors they used for the Hyakushiki Raise Cain

Pretty much, your paying for the packaging and the “booklet”, I guess no G40 Zaku
I do like it’s very unique design but the joints just don’t seem like they need to be that complicated. I would’ve preferred this kit as a MG or RG.

Can you reviewing and build the high grade graham's union flag custom??
Already did. It's the same as the Union Flag/Overflag ruclips.net/video/CHxVF5Eg-vg/видео.html/
Do you take commissions?
Feel free to send me an email gunpla4mr.scissors@gmail.com or a DM on Instagram
The design kinda gives me Turn A vibes.
Syd Mead applied a lot of "industrial design" concepts to the Turn A's design as well. The design sketches are amazing to peruse.
Now we just need type v3
Ayyyy 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
once I saw the feet assembly I justify the price on this kit
Citrus, great video. Im always looking forward to them. Few questions. Did you do all the paint detail with the 3 metallic markers? If so, how did you prevented the bleed over?
Thank you.
I used Deco Color silver, which is an oil-based paint, with a black wash on top. I lightly sanded off any excess.
