  • After Dreamhack Sweden I took some wisdom from tekken pro player Ulsan who went on the win the whole event and he said that poking may be the best way to play after the latest patch, the moves he mentioned I cover in this video and try and help you guys build an understanding of how you can utilise these moves in the best possible way, in tekken 8 there is no directly correct answer to how you structure your offense and defense but you can definitely try out new things and see just how much it works for you, i hope you enjoy the video, more on the way soon

    It feels like poking is not really a thing until very high level. People in my level are just mashing and pressing plus frames and knowledge checks. But super useful video as always, much appreciated.

    Been an Anna main since TK5 and switched to Lili for TK8.
    Now I've been grinding Leo and I think this character forced me to learn the game better (defense, spacing, neutral pacing, etc.) since I was rewarded with an aggressive playstyle with Lili (while Leo's kit has less to abuse).
    Your videos / matches have helped me a lot Richie! Much love from the Philippines!

    good to know! String 2 1 incorporated 👍

  • @Youthfullegend
    @Youthfullegend Месяц назад +2

    2 1 is a very underrated string I agree. 11 frames, safe on block, long range, natural combo, and tracking. I think the only reason Leo players try to avoid it is because its apart of his 10 strings or its two highs, but I've got great use out of despite that.

    • @CosmicVoid420

      Does it track swr?

    • @Youthfullegend
      @Youthfullegend Месяц назад

      @CosmicVoid420 Yes and no. It's not really consistent. Characters like Lili, Alisa can completely side walk in either direction. But most characters ss or sw can get clipped.

    • @InnerTriggerer
      @InnerTriggerer Месяц назад

      Underated? Yes. Is it good? No.
      Imo it's too much minus and low damage, it's my interrupt, challenge string but not spam or poking string. I mean look at Lili 2,4 is -2 Azu 2,1 is delayable high-mid is the same at -7
      it's very weak string but it's the best we have 1,4 is suicide button and 2,2 is -12 for some reason. so 2,1 is the only option we have, not because it's good.

    Pokes are a setting stine of my gameplan. Ppl with good lows demand their opponents respects. Like either loss a third of your health to my lows ir risk ducking then have my launch you.
    Every string i feel is at least ok with Leo. Either good, gives her charges or goes into one of her stances. Nothing that doesn't have a use i feel

    A very over looked string is 324 it’s a risky move if the opponent knows how to duck and launch it. It’s my favorite string to use in high ranks they rarely ever duck it. Only time the opponent ever ducks it is if there a Leo main 😂.

    are you able to sidestep after 2 1 on block?

    • @ayorichie
      @ayorichie  Месяц назад

      There are some situations where you can sidestep yes for instance vs jack shaheen lee law Alisa and maybe a few other characters you can ssr after 2,1 on block to make their df2’s whiff situational but a strong situation if you make the right read

  • @raidennc
    @raidennc Месяц назад

    Dragunov's df1 absolutely doesnt track 😂. Idk why Ulsan said that. Wr2 > df1 loses to step from both directions.

    • @ayorichie
      @ayorichie  Месяц назад

      Drags df1 tracks ssr generally you have to go left against it

    • @raidennc
      @raidennc Месяц назад

      @@ayorichie all I'm saying is that if you block a wr2 you can absolutely SSR (the side it supposedly tracks to) to beat everything but homing moves, including df1. Maybe on some weird timing you might clip a ss. But it doesn't really track consistently to either side from my experience without some variation in timing or something.
      All that said, obviously you and Ulsan are much better players than me. Just my observation from playing Drag a long time.
