- People have been asking me how to sell vinyl records, so I decided to make a video. If you don't want to throw a massive event like TMR Fest, there are some easier and low-pressure ways to make money off records you no longer want or need. In this video, I illustrate some ways you can do it with no fee services, as well as highlight some of the best online marketplaces.
Once you sell your records, make sure you watch my video on how to PACK records: • How To Pack And Ship V...

I sell on EBay... discogs is saturated and over populated.
So far so good for me 👍🏼
I love your advice. You spend more on a record than you do on the thing you listen to it through. Smart.
Great content and information. Thanks so much.
Great vid, thanks Matt!
Thanks for sharing man, I am aware of all platforms apart from the first one. I don’t like to part from any record 😅
Thanks for the vid very helpful
Great video
Thank you
I arn pissed that reverb lp is closing. It was by far the best place for selling. Unbelievable.
Superb bro. Great
My father put together an amazing collection. I'm going to sell the box of buddy holly 45s some even still have the 45 adapters stamped still in. Most jukebox only copies. Or dj prints. All in near mint condition lots with pictures sleeves all have protective sleeve over each record. Coming soon to ebay. After that a whole box of 45 SUN records. Whole box that label. Elvis the beatles jerry lee. I've kept these long enough time to see the joy in a collectors eyes. That's where they need to be.
Great information , got 10,000 LP's to unload here . Want them to find a good home .
Dave Davis Too Many Records Facebook Group
Thanks for the information. I knew about discogs, eBay and Facebook groups but not the first one. As a buyer and not a seller it's good to know different places I can shop. I did a video kind of like this but more on the details of what to expect when starting to sell and the different things to think about. Check it out sometime. I'd be interested what you think. Am I way off or maybe forgetting something. Cheers
Mark
We have collection of 5000 approx old original seal packed from late 70’s to 80’s. Also some collection of 30’s jazz. Want to sell it
Depop! I love the app and have found some pretty neat limited stuff every once in a while. With the ability to negotiate some times it can be really fun to interact and chat with people in a relatively nicer market (sometimes my interactions with people on discogs or reverb are a little less friendly). Since it's not just a record marketplace sometimes it's a little bit of a slim picking scenario but you'd be surprised what you can find for some reasonable prices. Happy hunting and, or selling!
That's cool! Thanks for the tip.
Do you know what percentage Depop takes & do they allow Media Mail shipping?
Cool 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
you said you were going to put the forum links in the description but theyre not there
Do record shops order from these places as well?
I buy on reverb but I have never sold on there I got a 1962 1st press of John Coltrane- Ole- for 50.00 it worth over 100.00 but I would never sell it at least not right now..lol
nice score!
The best thing I did to sell records was to invest in an ultrasonic cleaner .I listen to and I clean all my records prior to selling and advertise it as such , seems to help .
that sounds really time efficient ....
What’s that song in the background?? 🔥
You didn't mention taking them to your local record store. Most of them buy used records.
They will give you 1/3 of what they're worth as a general rule here in the UK. Not a good option unless you've got a Bailiff waiting for you
@@johnnyocvinylrecords1079 not going to disagree with you, but it's an option that wasn't mentioned.
Most record stores will low ball what you bring in. Stores are good for trades if they have what u want
Yeah I didn't mention it because you get so little money, most of the time. These are superior methods if you're willing to ship :)
@@johnnyocvinylrecords1079 Not always. Depends on the store and it's locale surely?
Please my name is Agboluaje from Nigeria am selling any music style of African vinyls records LPs can you please tell where I can sell online?
Soundtrack LPs and bollywood records are the key to making big profits on eBay. In my experience ebay buyers of records are mostly clueless about vinyl grading, discogs you need to be precise and accurate with your grading if you are selling. Also records that have appealing cover art and original inner/booklet/poster artwork will sell for high profit margins on eBay but can be bought cheap on discogs. Sellers on discogs undervalue the quality of original posters, booklets etc etc
soundtracks and bollywood, lmao ok ...
The reality is selling records is a royal PITA. Time consuming and you almost never get what YOU think they are worth. Best strategy is to take a highly curated approach to your collection and only buy the best. That $5 record you find in the store? Do you not think the owner knows what it’s worth? Except when you sell it back to him - for a buck.
Why is discogs currency set for British ?
Sell?
I have an autographed record of Jessie Reyez Kiddo how much would you guys buy it for it’s in perfect condition
2 for $1?
I have over 500 records to sell it’s intimidating... I almost just want to leave em on the side of the road but my grandfather would come back to life and kill me
I looked a few up some are worth a good amount
I just wish I could get a fair rate for them without all the work I’m busy enough
@Pop Ease I sold about half but I kept the ones that I thought would be valuable the Micheal jackson and few others - it's not my sport so I'm sure there were some valuable pieces I let go I have them up on offer up as we speak but I haven't checked it in a while
I really want them out of my house I could use the closet space and I hate hoarder things I don't use any advice.
I'm in a similar (but much smaller) boat. I'm a bit intimidated, not just by the work that'll be required, but because, like yourself, it's unfamiliar territory. I would be upfront about the condition of my albums (a lot of them date back to the 70s - the vinyl is mostly good but the covers have become a little scuffed, or worse, over the decades. More recent ones are pristine) but I worry that some vinyl aesthete would be appalled by what he had received from me and demand his money back. I'm not going to go over the top with pricing, so people will get bargains. The first record I checked, a grey vinyl 12" single of Prison Sex by Tool, was going for up to £140! That got me excited. The next one - an album by Jess Roden called Keep Your Hat On - long out of print and not on Spotify - £1.69!
I think once you get up and running it becomes an interesting hobby, but it's just taking those first tentative steps.
I like the in person haggling of record fairs and conventions but they aren't that commonplace it seems like.
Reverb LP is no longer in operation. reverb.com/press/a-message-from-reverb-lp
You didn't mention Musicstack.
What percentage does Musicstack take from your sale?
I really want to get into selling records online. Could anybody recommend a good way to go about starting this. i.e. where can I buy high quality/sellable records in bulk? Should I buy job lots off ebay? find local collections? etc. Would really appreciate somebody's input. :)
Check your local Craigslist for yard sales and estate sales.
Go back in time and learn over 30 years
Game is to be sold, not told.
Lol ebay fees are like 20% now🤣🤣
Here's a tip..Move in with a partner and they will make you sell your records to free up space, if find endless nagging to be a real motivator...Do I sound bitter?
Reverb LP is no longer in business.
This is record collecting not music loving.

I clicked "Like" because I support my fellow vinyl junkies, but the information in your video was a letdown. Furthermore, the fact that you mentioned "Offer Up", which far as I can tell, is a non-existent app with an ad machine, may leave some questioning your integrity. Sorry.
First off, this video is from early 2019. Secondly, OfferUp is still very much an app, I actually found records locally on there last month.
Just so anyone not familiar with OfferUp .. it's only for the USA, if you're anywhere else, you can't use it
