Wow! I love this video! I was considering wood shutters but they're so expensive. This will still keep with my rustic/southwest decore. Thank you Marcy!

I'm so happy to hear that! Yes, this is definitely a more affordable option. I've had mine up for years now, and they've held up beautifully.

Thank you for the video. I love the colors you used. Can you tell me what was the second darker stain that you brushed.

It's been so long since I shot this video, but I believe the darker color of stain I used was espresso.

Great Video! Thanks for sharing. What did you use to join the cleats to the wall? Screws...Anchors? Was it dry wall back there or did you have a stud to screw into? Thanks!

Rick Thompson we used wood screws and were able to screw them into the studs. Hope this helps. Thanks for checking out my video. 🤗

Thanks! I really enjoyed this video! Any tips on using the L brackets from the vertical blind that was over my sliding glass door as a fastener to the wall? I was going to add a set of L’s the the back of the cornice too and bolt them together. Am I over engineering this?

Because the wood is so light weight, I just used the cleats, and they’ve held up fine all these years. I guess it would depend on the wood you’re using. Thanks for checking out my video. Good luck with your project.

Pre stain prevents blotching ... a dust mask or improperly worn paper mask will not assist with vapours... a half mask style respirator with proper Carbon cartridges is suggested.

Ugh... I really wish people would put in their description box the list of the wood and the size that they used so we can take that to the store to tell the workers what we need!

Hmmm.... why she is wearing dust mask when she should wear chemical mask instead? Nice outcome anyway. :)
