You are not only a great teacher, you are also very generous with your knowledge. It’s just a matter of time you’ll have thousands (if not millions) of followers. Thanks for everything you do.
Thanks Jared. And I'll also take this instance to tell you your lessons have completely ramped up my will to take the next step into learning guitar seriously, theory included. Steve Stine was a big factor too, bless him. There are lots of great teachers online but you are just so articulate and put things so succinctly that it fills one with confidence to actually try it. Reminds me of my maths teacher in high school who made things so crystal clear that I didn't feel the need to practice daily. Yeah I screwed the exams and had to drop maths. But I learned one vital lesson - practice regularly. I won't make the same mistake with you. Now I'm a self taught (with absolutely no technique)advanced beginner and can play all the regular chords. Started at 14 and played for a decade. Didn't touch one for the next fifteen till last year I bought a Yamaha FG800 when my son was born. I want him to grow around a guitar and music, something which I didn't have. But that was about as high as I would spend on a guitar with my level of playing and no signs of stepping up. No point punching above my weight. But I found your channel a few weeks ago and today I just tore my wallet a hole and ordered my first all-solid body guitar (not one of the hallowed brands anyway) cos, thanks to you (and Steve, bless him again) I know I'm getting better everyday to do the beauty justice.
Thank you! You're the best guitar teacher on RUclips, by far, and I think I've watched all the rest. Your generosity with this will be maybe the most valuable thing for me in really coming to understand guitar, and I'm very grateful.
Wow been wanting to learn how to read music but did not start early enough old age caught up with me and now cant even remember my wifes name. years ago when learning to sing bass in a church choir i didnt know what all those squiggle marks mean my wife told no matter ill give you the first note just go higher or lower depending which way the note goes and listen to the alto and make sound good. thank you for a great lesson Ed
nicee way to present the 5 scale shapes, picked my guitar back up after 16 years using the same book I head to memorize scales but I'm just going to print these isstead, sub earned!
Thankyou Jared ❤ I appreciate the wealth of knowledge you are sharing. I am presently working through your chords on command course. It is fantastic, I am learning lots and can’t thank you enough for putting the course together for others like me to learn. ♥️♥️♥️
Awesome! I play 7 string bass as well ( believe it or not!) and I tune it like 7 string guitar with a low B. This will be helpful with just working out. Thanks.
Hi there! Really trying to invest in the theory of my beginning.. do you break down by any chance how to read these particular charts? I’m use to seeing strings named by note rather than number. I assume low and high E are “3” but I would love context for these placements.
Just want to point out: Harmonic Minor is Aeolian with a raised seventh. Melodic Minor is Dorian with a raised seventh. This makes learning these shapes much easier.
What is the easiest scale to practice for some who hasn't played for 50 years like me I am 70 now and I am having difficulties just playing a G chord so I need something that will exercise my fingers to get them to do what I want them to do.
I wish there was a poster that had all of the scales on it that I could just hang on the wall, starting from the easiest all thee way through to the hardest.
Is anyone else not receiving a email back for this pdf? I've been trying for days and it says it would be sent in a few minutes. I even got a friend to try and hasn't received an email either. I want this pdf soooo bad.
SO sorry about that! I just got a notice from the software company that I use to send out the PDFs that they were experiencing a problem and that deliveries were getting delayed or not getting sent. I believe it's fixed now. Be sure to check your spam folder too. If you still don't see it please send me an email directly and I'll give it to you directly. jared@soundguitarlessons.com
Good point! Thanks for bringing that up. More accurately I should have said the minor pentatonic is rooted off the 6th of the major pentatonic scale. But yes, it technically would be the 5th mode of major pentatonic. Good catch. :)

Is Minor scale the same as Minor Blues Scale?

Minor pentatonic is the 6th mode of major pentatonic...?
Burt pentatonic does consist of just five notes...
Good point! Thanks for bringing that up. More accurately I should have said the minor pentatonic is rooted off the 6th of the major pentatonic scale. But yes, it technically would be the 5th mode of major pentatonic. Good catch. :)
Hi, I saved the Parent scales a while back, but it was DELETED.....I copied it again...Thank You ! Gary
1:04 … several problems with that Introduction … ? How would a pentatonic scale have 6 modes?! Other typos, as well.
I dont know any of the scales... Yet i can play a couple of Fingerstyle fully.... Am i doing something wrong ???🤔🤔🙄🙄
