Another important thing to check, which I found out the hard way, (been flying for a year with no incident), I went out to get the fog and trees, my drone had been in my car overnight and was cold, the battery gave a false 3/4 charge indicator, went up 65 ft and about 400 ft out, got low battery warning, drone TRIED to "RTH" but never made it, I was able to retrieve it, but it broke, good thing for DJI Care Refresh, but ALWAYS make sure your batteries are warm before flying in the cold.. Great video, glad I found another helpful drone pilot 😊👏👍

Thank you for the helpful information. I used to fly rc airplanes and helicopters. The one helicopter i flew was used by professionals in large indoor and outdoor competitions. It was very difficult to learn. A quote back then was ...it is like trying to balance a marble on a plate. Now, years after a spinal cord injury, i have purchased a DJi mini 2 se, and I am doing my homework before flying. My dominant hand is compromised. I will be watching more of your videos as i found this one very informative. Thanks.

My first time here, and would love to get a drone, but do not know a lot about operations. Somehow found your channel, and think I will stay around to learn from you. I am a senior living in the rural area of WV, lots of trees.lol. We have finally got trash service here, and we place our trash at the end of our king driveway out at the road for pick up. I go check after the trash company comes early morning to make sure trash was taken, and nothing out on the road with my walker, which for me a long walk. A drone would serve me to go to the road for me. Another thing is snow. We need to know how bad the toad is after a snow, and usually can’t get out to see the main road, so again a drone could see for us.
Sometimes we do have windy days, and wonder how much wind is too much for a drone.
I do not like having to hook a phone on the drone controller, wish that they came with their own monitors. I hope to learn more from you, and your channel. Thank You. P.S. We do not use FaceBook, so will only visit you here on this channel. Excited, and Grateful to have found you.

Every time you fly a drone, you should follow a preflight checklist before you fly. Verifying the return to home settings should be one of the very first elements in that checklist.

Thank you for a really helpful tutorial. As a newbie I used the RTH feature today on a dji mini 2se. The RTH didn't work because the drone was too high and wind was too high. I was able to lower the drone manually into lighter wind and then use RTH. I should say that the weather app said wind was less than 10mph! BUT what happens if emergency RTH kicks in, but the wind is too high?

It takes into effect your rth height with the battery. So if you have a higher rth altitude and your flying low you will have less available battery to fly around since its reserving the battery needed to go up over then down. What I do is I actually set it for way lower then I am flying to save battery. May the signal cut out on the rth home sure but eventually it will get back in range at that lower height. Good for winds incase you go up to 500m and its windy then your controller dies or something you knkw it will lower itself down and make its way back instead of fight higher winds the higher it is.

Technically, losing sight of your drone can get you in deep trouble since it is illegal - as both a recreational or commercial pilot you ALWAYS have to be aware of where exactly your drone is - unless BVLOS certified or using a visual observer, you always have to maintain visual line of sight... But otherwise these tips are great!

NO!.....that's not what vlos means or how it works. As long as you know where the drone is and can Intelligently operate it......otherwise how could FPV exist? Another important thing to remember also is before the making of this you tube video is do you have part 107 drone pilot license 🪪 so the FAA won’t give you problems, that’s right you need to pay for a license to make videos on RUclips.
