  • Welcome to Venice, Florida! A sleepy town of about 24,000 people, Venice is located on the west coast of Florida about 24 miles south of downtown Sarasota. It is a city on the water often referred to as “Venice Island”.
In this video we will take you on a tour of downtown Venice, Florida, and the beautiful Venice Beach. We will share some history of Venice, Florida and some of our favorite spots!
Downtown Venice is a lovely place to spend a day because it offers something for everyone. The recently-renovated Venice Avenue is a beautiful place for a stroll featuring stately palm trees, well-marked pedestrian crossings, and smooth new sidewalks. The business section of Venice Avenue features various gift shops, apparel stores, art galleries, toy stores, restaurants, bakeries, and a hotel.
If you enjoy a good Farmers Market, every Saturday you’ll find the Venice Farmers Market which gathers nearly 50 vendors every week to create the perfect place to find fresh local produce and seafood, coffee, prepared breakfasts, ethnic cuisines, a variety of artisan foods, handmade jewelry, fresh flowers and much more! The Venice farmers market runs every Saturday from 8am to noon in the summer and 8am to 1pm in the winter.
At the west end of Venice Ave, you will find Venice Beach Florida. A beautiful relaxing beach known as the “Sharks Tooth Capital of the World”. Here you can easily find black, fossilized sharks teeth all along the shoreline and sift for them in the shallow surf. You can also try your luck hunting for sharks teeth at Caspersen Beach which is also in Venice, Florida.
There is so much to explore in Venice, from shops to events to beaches to cafes. Make sure you allow yourself at least a long weekend to explore it all!
We truly enjoyed driving around Venice, Florida; it is such a beautiful town. We hope you enjoy this video, and please let us know in the comments if there are other Florida towns you recommend!

I moved to Venice when I was A Florida State Trooper. I lived on Capri Island Blvd. I got married to a Venice police officer. I think she was the only female on patrol with the department in 1987. We got married at the Bannon house in the city. When moved in 1990 to the Florida panhandle. We visited a couple of years ago and man we do not recognize the place now .

    • @wherenexttravel

We just bought a house here in Nokomis. We are 7 min from the beach and love it! We are in between Venice and Sarasota so perfect location! There are so many nice areas to consider. Your best best to is to contact a real estate agent. If being by the beach is important, consider Osprey, Nokomis, Venice. All are a short (15-25) drive from downtown Sarasota. Best of luck and let us know when you arrive :)
