3:06 sorry to nit-pick but nothing is happening 'through' the Android phone when using your watch like this. It's all independent LTE connectivity.
True, but I believe the SIM has to be active and in a phone for the Watch to receive the call. The Apple Watch does not like it when you remove its paired SIM from a phone.
The real test would be to take the sim totally out of either phone and see if you can still make calls from your watch. I think because the watch has its own LTE antenna, that it works independently from your phone’s SIM
Uh the watch has its own SIM itself built in it doesn’t rely on any phones SIM
Tasha Peak from my opinion if it isn’t paired with the phone you use although it is an independent watch without your phone it still has some things it needs in order to operated in the long term like updates and etc and there’s a huge battery drain if it’s on it’s own the entire time not THAT much but more than normal so if it was me I would either get the update for the iPhone and try to jailbreak it later while using the watch cause it is awesome or keep the jailbreak you have and not worry about the watch seeing there’s a lot of maintenance you’d have to do back and for that’s more of a hassle than it’s worth (just my opinion tho)
100% right. The watch only has to be activated with an iOS device. From then on it has its own eSIM number on that carrier and their special sauce is what links the to over LTE. Hence why you can leave your iPhone at home and still use the watch. But all means, the watch is it's own device once activated. You can throw your phone on the ocean, shred the SIM and it would still work just fine because again, the magic sauce is on the carriers end.

This isn't a hack. This is two different devices with separate sims using the same number. The watch is 100% independent of the Android phone
Absolutely. By nature of the original number being associated with the S8, however, you're technically "using" the watch with an Android phone. This is why I call it hacky - you're not actually syncing your watch to the phone, and it's not a perfect solution by far. But if you want to use Android in your daily life and have the watch synced to that number, this is how you do it.

i think apple would sell much more watches on android phone users but also ipad users if they provide with the ipad pro (LTE version) the apple watch app.

Yes you can use your Apple watch with an Android phone, as long as your watch is with the eSim version. But you only get very limited features (i.e. missing app notifications) and the experience is quite weird, as mentioned after all.

What do you think a hacker is exactly? Some guy in a mask with a black hoodie and green code flying across his screen? No, hackers are just people using a couple programs on their computer. Considering an Apple Watch would never usually work with and Android product, you can class this as a hack.

I concur with all the previous comments that this isn’t a hack at all. Because the watch is registered with its own device ID number, similar to a phone’s IMEI, it’s not connecting through the phone on here, but simply through the cellular connection with it’s embedded cellular antenna. All swapping the SIM card does is move the phone’s line from one device to another. If you had two SIM cards registered with the same account and number, and placed the sim in each phone, it’ll work the same. SIM stands for Subscriber Identifier Module which only identifies a line of service. With the Apple Watch, why do you think you have to pay for a separate line access? It’s quite independent. The only way that you could possibly do something such as pairing an Apple Watch with Android is if you rooted the android device, and managed to load an original copy of iOS.
So if I put my 12 Pro Max sim in the new Pixel 6 Pro when I get it, and connect my watch 6 via Bluetooth, it won't work?
@@Lynn-zw7dr you just won't have many of the features that you get with having an iPhone paired with it. It'll still work independently, but it's not exactly "paired"

This is only possible if you have the cellular model watch not the just GPS

I guess it’s because the new LTE version is just like an individual LTE device so that everything through LTE will work no matter where your SIM card is (even not in the phone) because AW uses eSIM that writes all the SIM data into watch directly (just like old Verizon iPhone 4 CDMA model without SIM tray..)

Super cool! All the naysayers agreed it couldn't be done and hacky or not, you did it! Agreed that it is a dsyfunctional relationship (IOS to Android), but you have taken a giant step for geekkind!!! It sticks in my craw that a MegaCorp tells me what I can and cannot do with a legally purchased device.

you can bypass the wiffi restriction by firt when the sim is inside the iphone conned the iphone to the android hotspot (if u have one).This will cause the appke watch to pair to ur android hotspot
so let me know if i understood correctly:
i have an android phone with a SIM card in it
i get the apple watch with cellular and put the eSIM number of the one which I have in Android
i connect the apple watch with an existing iphone which will have the same eSIM bumber as the apple watch (the iphone will remain at home all the time and connected to wireless)
in this conditions, it is possible to say that aple watch would work with android? basically getting all the whatsapp, messages and calls? :D

Nice try though.. The Apple Watch Series 3 is not dependent on phone connectivity to call, text, stream, or utilize GPS location for mapping purposes. Both phones could have been turned completely off and you would have got the same results. Try it with a Series One watch and see if you have the same results. Your test was interesting, but truly it is bogus.

So, if I buy the new Google Pixel 6 Pro in October, and the new Cellular Apple Watch 7, and I set my new 7 watch up on my existing iPhone 12 Pro Max, you’re saying the Apple Watch 7 will work on my pixel 6 Pro? How would it work though, does it mean I’d have to leave my iPhone on wifi all day at home in order for the two different devises to work? Would I need to put tethering on as well as I’m thinking battery drain? I’d appreciate your thoughts please?
