Gimmick characters should be relatively weak hit-to-hit because they have a lot of tools to weird out an opponent. They have to focus on mixups and being difficult to read (relying on player creativity to stay ahead of the opponent and struggle with predictability). Big movelists and stance transitions are important here to be competitive, forcing an opponent to have to guess and understand the matchup intricately to know what you're going to go for (requires labbing by people trying to counter because they have to familiarize themselves in the context of who they use). Easy characters should be middle of the road: you get decent tools without a lot of work or execution but you struggle in specific areas because they lack a specialty that makes them a standout character. Damage is nothing special but also consistent. Players who want to stick with these characters need to focus on their own gameplan because everyone is going to know the standard matchup. Hard characters should be strong to make up for the curve it takes to get into them. They have execution demands and either notable weaknesses to compensate for high strengths in specific areas or require a dedicated approach to play properly that you as a player must learn and adapt your style to. They get high damage options because you're going to be working your ass off practicing and perfecting to get that damage. Opponents knowing the matchup won't necessarily help them because if you're competent with the character, you have the inherent advantage.

Lmfao. Good times. Db3 tracked a lot better. His backturned d2 launched on normal hit (gave crumple stun).
some of the main differences w/t6 bob & t7 bob (i main both) d+1 being essentially 0 on block (its -11 now but still virtually unpunishable) obviously cd+1 launching, the 2nd hit of df+1, 2 had a breakable crumple stun on counter hit that gave him a free launch if not broken. the oki from b+1+2 could set up a relaunch/re bound from a bnb combo which was ridiculous. also db+3+4, 4 not staggering as another player mentioned. a lot of his power is still there in t7 though, one of the best wall games in it, still very underrated.
Top players aren't a good indication of balance. THere were two guys in League of Legends called Boxer Pete and FoggedFTW2 who took Tryndamere who's pretty much NEVER been in the META and took him to Challenger 1 (as high as you can go). I think Boxer Pete had 3 accounts in Challenger (top 200 players) at one point. even to this day he's still out of META as he's easily kited and CC is his worst enemy both of which are a lot of in the META.
I started playing Tekken in the 7th entry, and I mostly enjoy maining Bob just for his moveset. Typically when you think of a scary character, Bob doesn’t often come to mind and that’s another reason why I main him. Seeing a fat round guy hunt you down and do all this insane crazy shit confuses people.
What were they thinking? Honestly, they should have scrapped this character for T7 and given his style to a new female character, perhaps Josie? So she didn't have to replace Bruce?
I actually like Bob. I like his Tricking scene inspired, almost Taekwondo-ish Karate, and unlike Rufus he's actually pretty serious and not a complete joke. I like Bruce as much as the next guy, but people wouldn't have liked Josie any better if she had replaced Bob. If she actually had an cool, original moveset and less wimpy personality, people might have actually liked her.
@@Rangaisia Believe it or not, many people would never like her even if she wasn't whiny. There's no reason that she should have replaced Bruce. Some people want Bruce and prefer Bruce and they always will. I'm one of those people. You'd be surprised how many people want Bruce back. Honestly they should never have put her in the game using his moves, she should have had her own moveset. However they always do that with the black characters. Eddie to Christie, Raven to Master Raven, Bruce to Josie. Sadly that's not even the first time because Bryan Fury started out as a clone of Bruce in Tekken 3. Shits really suspect if you ask me.
Db3+4 didn't stagger block and you could do just one on guard. Qcf 1 launcher was like -1 on guard. D1 had infinite range, big damage on ch, and was +/-0 on block with Bob crouching. He had his 10 string launcher in the back = launch = you were dead. He had a re-launch with b1+2 ender if you did anything which was removed in later games. Uf1+2 belly was an easy hitscan also. Insane okizeme of his throws also.

some of the main differences w/t6 bob & t7 bob (i main both) d+1 being essentially 0 on block (its -11 now but still virtually unpunishable) obviously cd+1 launching, the 2nd hit of df+1, 2 had a breakable crumple stun on counter hit that gave him a free launch if not broken. the oki from b+1+2 could set up a relaunch/re bound from a bnb combo which was ridiculous. also db+3+4, 4 not staggering as another player mentioned. a lot of his power is still there in t7 though, one of the best wall games in it, still very underrated.
Elephant here, can confirm that I don't know what Tekken or video games are.
Now we’ve got 6 Leroy in top 8.
i have no clue what most of this means but as a smash player i feel your pain
Top players aren't a good indication of balance. THere were two guys in League of Legends called Boxer Pete and FoggedFTW2 who took Tryndamere who's pretty much NEVER been in the META and took him to Challenger 1 (as high as you can go). I think Boxer Pete had 3 accounts in Challenger (top 200 players) at one point. even to this day he's still out of META as he's easily kited and CC is his worst enemy both of which are a lot of in the META.
he didnt mention uf 1+2, 1+2 was a hit confirmable safe wall splat that did like 49 damage
uf 1+2 was neutral on block too, but fortunately he cant transition to BAL that time
I think that Bob has the biggest hit box in the series. I can juggle Bob forever and ever and I'm not even a great juggler lol.
2:09 ma boi Bob hittin dem woahs
Peh, it's not Bob's fault he's the perfect fighting game character and Tekken just wasn't ready yet. lol
Laughs in Leroy
Robert “Bob” Richards is just that cool , dude.
You may not like Bob this is what peak male performance looks like.
Idea: couldn't they like, ban Bob from competitive events?? It doesn't sound complicated nor expensive
That would mean namco admitting they suck.
What were they thinking?
Honestly, they should have scrapped this character for T7 and given his style to a new female character, perhaps Josie? So she didn't have to replace Bruce?
I would love to see Josie do a belly bump uf1+2, 1+2 lol. Also Bruce for life, don't like Josie.
Bob is a pretty cool fat archetype character imo.
Bruce for season 3
Insane okizeme of his throws also.
cd1 was -6 on block
Db+3+4 did stagger on block in T6....it didn’t in Tag 2
He doesn't even sound that broken from this video.
Also
df12 is unsafe at -12 on block.
d21 is only +2 on hit.
He wasn't that broken. He didnot dominate the asian scene, only US.
I played so much tekken 6 when I was like 9, so glad I didn’t get into the esports scene till like 4 years ago or I’d have probably stopped playing tekken 6 entirely
Jin 4, Steve 5, Bob 6 and Leroy 7.
What character will curse top 8 next?
And then Slim Bob was made a playable character making him even more faster...
Honestly i actually enjoyed Slim Bob instead of regular Bob
@@MrJmaster09 it made Bobs character more lovable
Slim Bob was way weaker than fat Bob.
Tekken 6 needed a rebalance/season 2 but it never got support, otherwise its definitely superior to Tekken 7 FR which was a Jack 7 fest as well.
Today we got 6 Leroy in top 8
Evo 2011: 4 Bobs
Evo Japan 2020: Leroy says Hi
