I don't think it really looks weird. It just, refreshingly, doesn't look like every other phone on the market. Honestly, what looks weird to me is something like the base iPhone with its angled for no reason two cameras and a big section of the front display missing.

@@marcus.H the problem with Paco is they're ALMOST there. Kinda mid in all categories. This phone has amazing cameras and an 8 gen 3 so I'd absolutely say it's worth the extra few hundred bucks

Got mine about a week ago and I'm not looking back at regular selling phones on the US. What a refresh this has been. Great hardware and not that strange of a software. Little to none bugs and and already received 2 updates. It is heavy and squared but you get used to it fast.

Nubia are the only ones trying the screen without a front camera black cutout. I would say currently it still affects the max screen resolution and brightness too much, but maybe in a couple of years it'll be the totally superior option
There's also the other ZTE brands (Red Magic for example) that do the camera under display, though I still really like the approach Sony has with small bezels containing a camera and dual front facing speakers. Asus also did it with their ROG phones, except that the new one (ROG Phone 8) has the classic camera cut-out and no front facing speakers...
I think its smart that nubia made a gaming phone great for gamers and heavy phone users and then the z60 ultra perfect for camera lovers they appease both crowds
After having this phone for a month it's an absolute beast. No other phone has a better display for media consumption and games. The unhindered display is amazing. Fuck selfie pics. If I really need to I'll flip it around. The 3 cameras on back with optical image stabilization are amazing especially the gcàm. It competes with s24 u and sometimes surpasses except for telephoto which is to be expected. Also ir blaster is a must. The software is stock android with some other features. Theirs zero lag and fast. You buy this for display and cameras. If this phone was a 1k id still pic over others. My friend has the s24U we did a shoot out, the majority I liked better on the Nubia and he agreed. Amazing phone for the right price. Don't sleep in this phone go cop it and enjoy! Good stuff floss keep doing the damn thing. Att is tricky after being on the phone for over 90 mins I finally found a woman that removed the restriction get full bars on att.
Super unique looking phone, I'm a fan! 😮 I remember having a ZTE phone like 10 years ago, they've come so far and I'm glad they're still bringing decent phones out. If I wasn't addicted to my Pixel 7 I'd consider this phone.
My last ZTE was the axon 7 it failed after 3 years then switched to a mi9T pro that failed a week ago lasted 5 years, and today i got the Z60 ultra kinda feels like the axon very familiar but supersized.
Floss constantly got me coming and going. I was locked on the Red Magic 9 so thank you Floss for straightening me out on the differences between the two. Floss, 2024 is going to be INSANE for handsets my man and I'm subscribed and locked in to make sure I don't miss anything!!
I'm in love with this phone. Got it in Canada, everything works (VOLTE, Google Pay, 5G, Wifi 6+). The battery capacity of 6000 + FHD+ screen means insane battery life. That's a real 2 day phone for a long time. MyOS is very similar to stock android, no bloatware anywhere on the phone. If you were on the fence, and love like me big square screens and phones, go for it.

Great review, Floss ! You're among the few that always say how important unboxing experience is, plus what comes in the box, plus fresh design. Samsung is selling us pretty much the same stuff year after year and considering what competition has to offer for 2-3 times less money... well Samsung phones could/should be much much better ! Keep up the good work !

@@Mickieshelton using only Samsung flagships for almost 7 years, I can guarantee that software updates don't fix anything, on contrary. And I'm not sure what "excellent" cameras you're talking about. Sold my S23U mainly because of bad "we'll fix it with updates" (did not happen) camera experience. On 2023. flagship with all that hardware power, you still can't take a photo of moving subject without it being blurry and (very often) unusable. That alone, and there are many other camera problems, should not be acceptable.
@stevanb.2590 they don't fix anything? I've had 0 issues with the s21 Ultra, s22 ultra, s23 ultra. S22 Ultra battery went quicker than usual but the s 23 Ultra was definitely the phone of the year.
@@Mickieshelton Iphone, Pixel, literally any other phone is better at taking pictures of moving subjects. My prehistoric Iphone 6s took better pictures of people/pets indoors then my S23U. And try the devices for yourself, don't trust "honest" (paid) reviews and comparisons that mostly show pictures of buildings, traffic signs, sceneries... Kudos for Flossy for being honest.
I just picked up this phone to replace the honor magic 6 pro. It is an amazing phone, feels so good in the hand, brilliant cameras, great audio system. The size and shape is amazing, square and flat - more phones from china will follow this design I am sure. My new everyday carry with a vivo x100 pro for backup duties.

I was considering on getting one. But after trying out a Xiaomi Mi10 Ultra (MiUI 14) I have been missing many features from OneUI. So looks like im going to continue with Samsung. But never buying those new, too expensive.
Reminds of the design language of the ZTE Warp Elite for all the old heads like me who remember that far back. Liked that phone and I like this one too!
Just like how you're always batting for ir blasters, we up north 🇨🇦 need you to bat for us for our carriers to offer other phone brands aside from apple,samsung,google and motorola. They won't lower our rates, but it would be good to have a wider variety (and more affordable)of brands to choose from
As far as looks, this phone is beautiful. My problem with most smartphones today is that it seems like the innovation has died. Now, I'm not talking about design, I'm talking about the innovation. It's almost as if all of these smartphone manufacturers and their r&d departments all go to the same table to munch on some chicken wings and try to decide what the coolest new innovation is going to be, and they all had a brain fart. Even the new s24 ultra, most of the innovation is stuff we already have. All they've done is integrated a little bit more and up the accessibility factor. All this AI vision recognition crap is basically just Google lens integrated more into the phone system. I would like to see some serious innovation like, maybe, and integrated Flir camera, or or maybe some collabs with drone manufacturers to come up with something to be able to use the drone and not have to download a separate app. Something like that... Something big and different, not just an exaggeration of what's already there.
Beast price to performance phone. I like that it has a big battery capacity, very good fast charging, excellent soc chip and a nice screen. Hoping the phone gets more years of updates. Great review bro.

Watching this on the newer Nubia z60 ultra leading version (black). I gotta say getting to use your phone to turn on your tv is something I thought I never needed😮. This phone is amazing for it's price and I got it for 550 euros.
@@oliversimon3634 Nah, way out of my budget hahah, in my country (finland) the z60 ultra is on a pretty big sale rn for around 500-550 euro while the z70 ultra is ABOVE retail because it just came out, happens to every phone here. I've always gone for that 400-500€ pricepoint on every phone and even the now 1 year old z60u is about 2x faster than my oneplus, with 4gb more RAM and double the storage so it seemed like a good time to upgrade.
Vivo X100 Pro (Chinese model) is similar price so that's my pick! I like the look of Origin OS and don't care about android auto or smart watch connectivity so it's perfect for me :)

Considering floss said he would use this secondary to his iPhone and s23u . I would say this phone is a major major go. I'm an android guy sense the begining, I tried using my mom's iPhone and couldn't stand it.
ZTE (and thus Nubia) officially state that, and I quote: "you get at least ~4 years of OS updates and ~5 years of security patches, on both Z60 Ultra and 9 Pro". Now, how that would actually work out in the long run, if the manufacturer/brand will be able to keep it's promises on that, is a whole other question. Let's see.
The back on that phone looks so good. Loving the sleek high end AV equipment aesthetic. I just wish it didn't have all that protruding. I miss the days when phones had flat backs.
I would immediately buy this phone if I had the money. €679 8G + 256G. And I never use the front camera, so it doesn't matter. I consume a lot of media on my phone, so that screen would be absolutely perfect
I've been using redmagic phones since the red magic 3 and updates weren't an issue for me cuz I upgrade every two yrs but I did keep my 6 around a while and I remember getting 3 yrs worth of updates on it which isn't horrible for the price. I mean I'm not keeping the same phone for 3yrs anyway 😅q

The only major downside about this phone at least for me is the lack of software and security updates, if ZTE promised that the redmagic is gonna be getting only 2 years of major OS updates and only one year of security updates then this phone will probably be the same if not worse 😅 but nonetheless 600 is 600 i ain't complaining.
HI Floss when you do an unboxing of the s24ultra can you please zoom in on the flatness of the screen so far other reviews are not giving a good close up on the flatness, the phone is looking good and can't wait for your unboxing and review on it
I won't say its as simple as ''Red magic = gaming, Z60 = regular use''. The red magic's fan is pretty useful to have when you're in hot weather with the sunlight directly hitting the phone heating it up. The red magic also has a headphone jack, meaning it'll drive your high end headphones better. The larger battery will age better too. The flat back will stop the phone from wobbling around as much. Even the aesthetics of the red magic can be hidden pretty well with a case. But yeah, the main difference is the rear camera, IP68 water/dust, cooling and sustained performance between the red magic and z60. And thats something people will care about especially in hot weather/conditions.

I left Samsung a couple of years ago, the one thing I miss the most is the floating screen capture. I used it really often.

Even the new s24 ultra, most of the innovation is stuff we already have. All they've done is integrated a little bit more and up the accessibility factor. All this AI vision recognition crap is basically just Google lens integrated more into the phone system. I would like to see some serious innovation like, maybe, and integrated Flir camera, or or maybe some collabs with drone manufacturers to come up with something to be able to use the drone and not have to download a separate app. Something like that... Something big and different, not just an exaggeration of what's already there.
Beast price to performance phone. I like that it has a big battery capacity, very good fast charging, excellent soc chip and a nice screen. Hoping the phone gets more years of updates. Great review bro.

The camera is definitely good but not S23 good, especially with the zoom and night shots.

Watching this on the newer Nubia z60 ultra leading version (black). I gotta say getting to use your phone to turn on your tv is something I thought I never needed😮. This phone is amazing for it's price and I got it for 550 euros.

@@oliversimon3634 Nah, way out of my budget hahah, in my country (finland) the z60 ultra is on a pretty big sale rn for around 500-550 euro while the z70 ultra is ABOVE retail because it just came out, happens to every phone here.
I've always gone for that 400-500€ pricepoint on every phone and even the now 1 year old z60u is about 2x faster than my oneplus, with 4gb more RAM and double the storage so it seemed like a good time to upgrade.

Galaxy S24 will be my first galaxy since S8 but i also get a different phone as a backup. Thinking of going with Redmagic Or Nubia as a second phone.

Considering floss said he would use this secondary to his iPhone and s23u . I would say this phone is a major major go. I'm an android guy sense the begining, I tried using my mom's iPhone and couldn't stand it.

ZTE (and thus Nubia) officially state that, and I quote: "you get at least ~4 years of OS updates and ~5 years of security patches, on both Z60 Ultra and 9 Pro".
Now, how that would actually work out in the long run, if the manufacturer/brand will be able to keep it's promises on that, is a whole other question. Let's see.
Not having an SD card slot is a dealbreaker for me, even my cheap Samsung A23 has an SD card slot

I've been using redmagic phones since the red magic 3 and updates weren't an issue for me cuz I upgrade every two yrs but I did keep my 6 around a while and I remember getting 3 yrs worth of updates on it which isn't horrible for the price. I mean I'm not keeping the same phone for 3yrs anyway 😅q

The only major downside about this phone at least for me is the lack of software and security updates, if ZTE promised that the redmagic is gonna be getting only 2 years of major OS updates and only one year of security updates then this phone will probably be the same if not worse 😅 but nonetheless 600 is 600 i ain't complaining.

HI Floss when you do an unboxing of the s24ultra can you please zoom in on the flatness of the screen so far other reviews are not giving a good close up on the flatness, the phone is looking good and can't wait for your unboxing and review on it
I won't say its as simple as ''Red magic = gaming, Z60 = regular use''. The red magic's fan is pretty useful to have when you're in hot weather with the sunlight directly hitting the phone heating it up. The red magic also has a headphone jack, meaning it'll drive your high end headphones better. The larger battery will age better too. The flat back will stop the phone from wobbling around as much. Even the aesthetics of the red magic can be hidden pretty well with a case.
But yeah, the main difference is the rear camera, IP68 water/dust, cooling and sustained performance between the red magic and z60. And thats something people will care about especially in hot weather/conditions.
