I've used haychixs nets for 11 years. It's easier for me to put the bale on end and pull it down to the ground then flip the bale over and pull the string tight. Easy peasy! :)
I don't know why on some of tgese nets the opening is so constricted. My net itself could probably accommodate an 8 ft bale but the opening is so tiny and such a struggle!
I did one of these once and then the horses didn’t t even eat it grrrrr! Took the darn thing off and they eat a little, pooped in it a little, slept in it a little, months later I have been putting it on my garden since the horses kinda didn’t like the hay anyway.😮
Thanks for your comment. Not all round bales are equal. If they have bad spots of the outside layer a net doesn't help unless you peal the Dad off. Also I've heard of adding apple cider vinegar to the bale to kill any mold
I just got a net from tech equestrian that appears to be five times bigger than my bail, maybe that's an exaggeration but I ordered a net for a 4 ft x 4 ft bail and I think they sent me one for a 6 ft x 6 ft can It still work? Also after they've started eating it and it starts sagging how do you tighten it up so that they don't get caught up in it with their feet?
I have one of those big ones too. it deflates the horses won't eat it. I tried picking it up with the tractor and it still didn't work well. From what I understand adding a hay ring will help this problem. Or you can attach it to a hay ring.

They are not all created equal.
I have moved to a 6 foot net for a 5 foot bale. Still tight on the opening, but better

Been there
The net is to small for that bail. It shouldn't be a struggle.

hi! who makes this hay net you use?
Got this one from a Canadian company on ebay. Go a size larger than you think and it will fit better.
Haychicks makes a 6×6 that's way easy to use.
