    Of all the Upanishads (sacred Sanskrit texts), the Mandukya Upanishad is the shortest - consisting of just 12 sentences! - however, it is considered the most direct and the most powerful. The commentary, or Karika, composed by Gaudapada Acharya 1,500 years ago, it is regarded as the highest text of nondual Vedanta. Its goal is nothing short of transcendence of sorrow and the attainment of unshakeable serenity by the direct intuition of your own nondual nature. From January 2020, Talk 3 of 6.
    Swami Sarvapriyananda is the minister and spiritual leader of the Vedanta Society of New York. He joined the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in 1994, received sannyas ten years later, and served in the Hollywood Temple. He was the acharya of the monastic probationers’ training center at Belur Math, and also served as the vice principal of the Deoghar Vidyapith Higher Secondary School. He regularly gives retreats and spiritual talks throughout the United States.

    One of the most important points that is made here is that waking, dreaming, and deep sleep state are experienced by us but we have vedanta to point us towards Turiya-non dual awareness which the universe is made up of.
    Then another point is made - deep sleep and absolute consciousness are alike for every human being, irrespective of religion, caste, race.
    Here's the point I am trying to make-Do we achieve absolute oneness with universe in deep sleep? So, so do we experience Turiya everyday in its raw form?
    Swamy says NO. Yes, deep sleep is a void with no shape, no form and nothing to remember nothing to forget. But the seed of this world is still there. That's what makes us come back, and continue the cycle of waking, dreaming, deep sleep everyday. So, deep sleep and Turiya are different.

    Sir if we are bhraman and an atma that cannont be hurt, neither killed....nor imaginable....Then why we are working for mukti and breaking cycle of life and birth...if we are in cycle of life and birth then who is compelling us in this system...what is the purpose of mukti?

    • @nidhikapoor8143
      @nidhikapoor8143 3 года назад

      It's an ego, our mind (thoughts), desire for the material World, material things that's called maya, compelling us.

      The system once understood and practiced, you cross over “sukha” and “dukha” and you attain samatwa bhava in this life itself . You attain mukhti while you still do karma yoga. You attain Bliss.

      Just as in a dream, the king is deluded into believing that he is a beggar, on account of ignorance of his true identity as the king.
      Thus, not realising Brahman, out of ignorance, this dream called Samsara emerges.
      All this is a part of this "dream". In reality, there is no Mukti, for there was never any bondage.

    But is that saying that beings such as Christ and Shiva and Krishna are different from us as yhey have a different form they only appear as human beings at times while the rest of us are just human 🤔?

    I am from a science background. I have one question. I will be glad if you shed some light on my ignorance. According to Shankar, language can't explain Brahman. This is because of the inherent limitations of language. Now, we know mathematics is the language of science. Without that, we will not be able to gain a quantitative understanding of the material world through the exploration of various fields of basic science and engineering. If I understood correctly, I have to do meditation and yoga to realise the truth of Advaita Vedanta. The sutras of Mandukya Upanisad are just postulates. There is no logical proof given there. My question is this. If language can't explain Brahman, can we develop some concept or tool (apart from meditation and yoga) that can lay the foundation of studies of Brahman or pure consciousness or turiya? Can you suggest to me some easy-to-read articles? I am not a philosophy student either.

      If I understood correctly, I have to do meditation and yoga to realise the truth of Advaita Vedanta---- i think you have understood patanjali meditation same as adavita meditation. both r different .
