Revised Cardiac Risk Index

If I hear one more person say “we need cardiac clearance for this patient before going to surgery”, I am going to pull my hair out!! NO ONE IS CLEARED TO LAY ON A TABLE AND BE CUT OPEN. Rather, we risk stratify our patients to determine their risk of perioperative cardiac events, and the RCRI is one method by which we do it, and I have a fool-proof way to remember it. Enjoy!

Great vid! Very useful for revision thanks - one note, was there a 2016 update to the risk predictions? I read that older data had previously underestimated risk

Is this good enough to risk stratify for carotid artery disease ? Cause classification requires less than 6 % to proceed
