- Just a quick test: Fulltone Clyde Wah vs RMC Picture Wah, using a Fender Stratocaster '68 RI CIJ and a Sound City 50 Plus Amp + Marshall 1922 (weber speakers equipped ). Hope you Enjoy !
I actually just traded my Fulltone clyde deluxe for a RMC 4. My amp setup in general is more bright and cutting so the RMC actually helped me tame it back and smoothen out my wah tones. What works for your setup is all that matters. People sometimes forget that :D
Grazie!
Fulltone sounds better to me. I love the “quack” in the final of sweep.
@CarvinTone Ahah...ok friend ! Thanks. I was lucky to keep my cam in the right place. Amp volume was not too high, too!
MXR builds very cool pedals, i've never played CAE dual inductor Wah Boost, but i'm sure it's a great deal!
Those old Teese RMC Picture Wahs have an odd pot taper. From heel to toe, the response accelerates; it starts off slow as the toe goes down and hits the treble very quickly at the very end of the travel. You can sort of see this in the video. That's partially why there seems to be less treble in the RMC with similar treadle movement compared to the Fulltone. One has to modify the technique slightly to get a similar response.
That said, it also seems like the RMC's pot wasn't adjusted for maximum treble response in the toe down position. Perhaps that could another explanation for its darker tone. My old RMC Picture Wah from 2001 has a lot of piercing treble available at full toe down. :)
The old Fulltone pedals used very fine components ;-)
Like the tone of the RMC much more but the sweep of the Clyde seems much wider which I prefer.
My RMC picture wife has a sweep toggle underneath this guy clearly has it in standard but if you flip the toggle it’s a short much more quirky Hendrix sweet it is also already equipped with the fox rocks wah retrofit so interfaces with fuzzy face is really well
Rmc 4 picture wah 🔥
I have been a fulltone fanboy for a while and contemplated getting the clyde wah and I can't get over how much better the RMC sounds(IMO). While the clyde looks incredibly well built and may have more features, the RMC has a smoother(Marvin Gay) kind of tone. Every riff you play on the RMC sounds more natural and warm while the clyde almost sounds digital to me. The RMC seems to retain even tone from up to down position; something the fulltone lacks. Thanks for the video; very eye-opening.
@Danthehorse Thanks for watching and appreciating Danthehorse !
RMC for me. Throatier and less spiky in the treble.
@homonulus Yeah, RMC is a very very cool Wah. I like it for its warmth and vocal quality too!
Ciao !
Thanks for your comment ;-)
Good demo mate, thanks!
Oh I'm sure! I was just commenting to what someone had said about the RMC pot sounding cheap.
@CarvinTone just commenting on the insult crowd (idiots), nothing on you. Nice demo, it is hard to do these things much less get them to sound decent.
Wahs are always highly interactive to other pedals and your basic amp&guitar config. Not sure there is a "bad" one almost anything will sound decent clean some sound better in front of ODs or dist than others. I prefer the MXR CAE dual inductor w boost option myself as those type of wahs allow you to compensate more for any use.
I like much more the RMC. Much more vocal and throaty to my ears. The Hendrix thing is in the RMC.
Grazie
Have you ever used one of the Snarling Dogs wahs? That was the boldest sweep and voiced wah I ever used. Crapped out on me as well. 1st wah I ever had that failed outright. . Jeff Beck likes them, been using one for the last years. The Fulltone std is the fav of Trower. I like my MXR/CAE dual inductor wah but it is a little mild all things considered. That puppy sits all the time as I seem to forget I have a wah unless one is not on the board.
By the way Tool is a great band (or was). Too!
@CiccioGuitarist
Ciao,
@themorphetic Yeah, sure! Two great wahs ...;-)
RMC is for me.
Wahs are a weird thing for me, seems like when I do not have one on the board it feels lacking but when I have it in line seems like I hardly ever use it. I do wish I had the gear to do youtube stuff, seems like fun. I would like to really demo my board with all the tone ranges. Problem is all my bucks went into the pedals, my wife would kill me w one if I started buying into recording gear. I was laughing earlier as I though you called me a Tool, when I saw the Too! I was like what did I say...
RMC uses pretty high quality parts.
Fulltone owns! But this RMS is also nice...
@bbnatedogg What's your problem man? At min. 1:06 i start playing the fuckin' pedals...so If you don't like the vid you can just look away from here.
I hear the RMC darker and less shrill..... I don't know
RMC with a darker amp, Clyde with brighter. The sweep of RMC appears to be slightly narrow, am I right?
Sorry, the other way round: RMC with brighter, naturally.
@theinck Thanks theinck !
@CarvinTone I feel like a fish out of water if i don't have a wah on my pedalboard, too! Ahahahahah...;-)
@themorphetic : The RMC rules!
That stays to your personal taste...;-)
rmc muddy's up the signal in the lowpass... sounds like the pot is cheaper
Ciao Mapo.
Soprattutto sui crunch
chitarrainforma Il tuo è l'RMC 4 Picture Wah?
+MrLuca89or Sì, Rmc4=Picture Wah
@yngwiehendrix
Owned the RMC and felt it was pretty overrated.... certainly nothing like the Hendrix/Clapton sound. As the demo shows, the sweep is just too shallow for getting those classic wah sounds. Ended up selling mine and I'm probably gonna get a Sonus or Fulltone Clyde.
@CarvinTone Don't know what you mean man !!! Please, let me understand....
@CarvinTone I've never used the Snarling Dog wah, but i know it's a cool pedal in the range of modern whas.
I like vintage voiced ones, anyway. RMC is the wha pedal that fits my setup in the best way.
And...yeah...TooL is a great band ! ;-)
Fulltone for me. Love the quack!
No man, RMC pot is a very good one ;-)
fulltone wins!
@aris12pap I prefer RMC too ;-)
Fulltone DESTROYS the RMC. The CLYDE " WAH's from Top to Bottom " ( ex: Full Sweep & Range ). More Vocal Sounding. I am not saying that RMC is garbage - but I have Tried them All ! Get a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe - you will Not Regret It. I play Rock, Jazz, R&B and Reggae ( they are soooo Versatile ) and The guy who makes them is a Trower Fanatic ( songs: Too Rollin Stoned & Alathea - Live Versions ) . Another Impressive Wah: C.A.E. ( custom audio electronics ) is Real Nice - too.
Dear Michael, i had a 2008 black Clyde DeLuxe, too! Yes, really cool Wah (better than the white one on this vid), but i feel RMC Picture better sounding on my setup! That's just my personal feeling ;-)
Clean your ears, please. You said the same thing in a Fulltone vs RMC Wizard comparison... if you're trying to convince yourself because you bought the Fulltone and not a RMC is your problem. I've had Fulltone and a lot of RMC... RMC Picture is far better than the Fulltone (but I finally chose RMC 10).
Is this the clyde deluxe?
No Bobby, that's a Standard Clyde ;-)
sounds great...A lot better than the RMC to my ears.
Bobby59 no standard version
RMC>all
RMC is better and smoother
baddgges, we don't need no stinking baddgges...
Matter of taste my friend ;-)
clyde easy better
+Adam Krasuski I'd like to say Fulltone Clyde is nearer to Vox Clyde Wah, while RMC Picture is nearer Vox V846 ;-)
