They're a lot smoother too ride, and great for long distance riding too. I love skateboarding, but honestly i can't go very far on it because it tires me out too quick, thats why i carry one of these around aswell!
Im getting a 27 nickel in navy blue color with white trucks and yellow wheel, cant wait to cruise in streets of downtown long beach california, i luv to cruise
if you're heavier than 60kg's, a penny bends like a trampoline, go a nice short longboard, try the Arbor Shakedown 36 with some Indy 169's and a nice 80a-ish duro wheel. It's my go to hybrid for when I'm skating to class or shops.

I street skate, and I always pull out a penny board once in a while just to cruise and have an old school feel to riding down hills or up banks. Cause this is why penny's were made. To give that old school riding feel from like the 1970's but with better technology put onto the board. I longboard for that reason too but the Sector 9 was too big for me so I got this.
i bought one yesterday as my first board , i felt really unco trying to ride it at first but it only took me a couple of hours to get use to it, now i can ride it normally , still getting use to foot placement. As long as you just want one for cruising and not tricks then yeh its a good starting board in imo.

well, i personally longboard, and sometimes its tough to wear a helmet when you dance for me personally because i feel like it weighs me down and gets my steps reaaally sketchy, but i think downhilling and freeriding will be better off with a helmet
I'm 14, 5'8" , 117lbs , and wear a size 10 shoe. Should I get the penny or the nickel? I want the penny because it's smaller and more portable but it may just be too small.
actually these were the first skateboards released. The only thing they were made for was for the surfers to practice surfing on land. Then skating became popular and newer models came out. After a little while the skate scene died and it is what it is today. The models u see today didnt come out until like the 80's!
longboard no questions asked longboards are the best for just cruising around and having fun they are super easy to ride because of all the space the only problem is they cost a lot of money so yeah longboards :)
I would suggest a bigger board for a starting board. You would have more stability ! Check out the Santa Cruz Land Shark Cruiser. It's not too big but perfect for cruising around.

I'm not for or against anyone, I'm just trying to understand the hatred for these things. If thee same kids made this same video on wodden boards, there would be the typical RUclips haters comment, but that's it.I've had other skaters try one of mine and agree that it's a fun little board, but they couldn't "be seen on one". I like them better than my wooden mini cruisers, but I get less respect when I'm on them. Thanks for talking with me, I appreciate it.

i wiped out on one these back in 81 in NJ on the steep hills near Nyc. i must have rolled like 20 times at least.i was about 6-7 yrs old

I didn't know about penny's a year ago, and was skating on real 70's boards like them only a little different, but I have two penny's now.

Pennies are near indestructible, they can go hella fast, and they're quirky fun little things.
Penny board are a bit more maneuverable than longboard and they easier to carry, but I do like the speed and smooth ride of a longboard as well.
