I am so sorry this has happened. I can imagine how you feel. You would think that Meta would be better about helping. I'll go follow your new account. I guess it is a life lesson learned but a devastating one. I'm in my 70s and so have never truly trusted all this media and cloud business but I sort of think of it as 'what if someone came in and stole all of my scrapbooks'? If the house were on fire, I would grab my scrapbooks...pictures of my son's entire life and the family's life together...it would be devastating!!! Remember you deal with this once or twice in a lifetime. The hackers deal with this hundreds of times a week. I hope you have a very good antivirus program on you computer and phone. You don't want them leaving little bits on @*@&^^! on your stuff.

Just because you have an amazing life doesn’t mean that when a horrible thing happens to you that you can’t feel horrible and overwhelmed. You’ve basically been the victim of a crime. It takes time to piece things together after that. I believe you will come back stronger! ❤️
Firstly happy birthday for Tuesday. I know what it's like to be hacked, if I could lay my hands on them I would remove a few fingers so they couldn't type. Stay strong and eventually we good people will prevail.
vpn is your friend . the way things are now is it is pretty much manditory to use one. with all the tools they provide like virus protection and id theft protection etc. You have a new account so now make it more secure than the last one and do bigger and better things with it. But i will warn you Meta has more data breaches than any other company out there. I had Goodle alert me to a data breach on meta. Now if people dont think everything is connected. The other thing you can do is go on all your social media and tell people what happened to your IG. Duel identification on your accounts does add a layer of security. Change passwords frequently and need be your phone number.

If you contact Instagram and explain everything and inform them you can prove it with different ID they normal give you your accout back
