You brought back so many great memories of Japan for me - thx for sharing this! Japan is such an amazing place and I would love to go back for another long stay.
So awesome and what a first story! This reminds me of my first scrapbooks - in about 1998! I used an A4 art journal, and stuck all the stuff in and wrote about it and that was it. Now I tend to take a journal and a zip pouch to put stuff in, but then re-write some of the stuff onto journal cards when I get home and most of the "stuff" gets left out. Might have to try a combined approach for this years trip and add the TN in a pocket within the album.
This journal is fabulous. Looks like you had an amazing time. We loved Japan when we went in October. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure with us.
Thank you so much for sharing, your chatting about the trip makes me want to visit Japan, this was seriously an awesome video. I also loved the way you've used the TN journals and I'm going back to view the things you took for your kit. ❤💙💚💛💜
What a fantastic journal - thanks for sharing. I am headed to Tokyo the end of the month - have never been, and now I’m really excited after seeing your journal!
I loved every bit of this Essie What a wonderful trip you all had (except Artys travel sickness, my 13 year old get sick on planes too) so many happy tears. We are hoping to go to Japan soon, we had thought in the September holidays but its the world cup rugby so everywhere is booked up or mega expensive. I thought it would be too cold at this time of year but it looks like it was just right. (My 21 year old is there at the moment, a weeks snowboarding then 2 weeks exploring, I'm so excited to hear about his trip but a little bit jealous that he's there before me!) Those journals will be such an amazing memory for you all, you packed so much in. (Im so happy that you managed to keep well most of the time and didn't miss out on too much.)
oh, it's so cool that you've sent your son ahead for recon! he'll have all kinds of useful tips to make your trip even better! we have some friends who are skiers and are also just back, and they said the snow was the best they've ever seen. i hope you'll keep a travel journal when you go too!
Thanks, June! ❤️I am Anxiety Girl, so journaling while I'm away helps keep that under control. It's good to channel it into something that feels productive and worthwhile x
The nerdiest Travel-Journal I have ever seen.... :-D I would have so loved to be there with you! Happy for you that you got to make these experiences. :-)
This is the most amazing TN I have seen! I have a great trip coming in June and I intend to scrap lift as much of this as I can including the notebook for the bits to use for journaling/paper, etc. thank you for sharing
In Japan, they are very trusting. I'm sure you'll get a few that are not but I've known people who forgot their phones (with credit cards, etc) and retraced their steps...30 minutes later its sitting where they left it, untouched.
Thank you for a great tour of Japan, I would love to know where you stayed in the cities you visited as my hubby and I are planning a trip to Japan in August/September this year! Your journal was fab and gave me lots of good ideas for travelling with TN's....
hi susan - if you're planning to go to disney and it's in your budget, you should definitely stay at the hotel there. it was wonderful. in kyoto we stayed here: www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/2532364?guests=1&adults=1 in tokyo we stayed here: www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/22035987?guests=1&adults=1 and they were both wonderful. have fun planning your trip, you are going to love it!
The Japanese are amazing people! A friend of mine, who lives in Japan, forgot her iPhone at a metro station when she was filling up her MetroCard. Turns out that on the next day she returned to the same spot and her cellphone was there, UNTOUCHED!!
i felt the overarching cultural emphasis on community, and collective responsibility for everyone's wellbeing really strongly while we were there. so different from countries like australia and the united states! i would love to go and live there one day.
Your backpack story just totally sums up Japan in my opinion! Such considerate, neat, and morally responsible people!
