In the first two rounds, I would agree you can't rely TOO heavily on analytics. However, when it comes to predicting the final four, it's been consistently the "top tier" teams. Even in the cases of a lower seed making it all the way, it's almost always a team from a power 5 conference. Think UNC (8) last year or UCLA (11) the year before.

I agree it isn’t solvable, but I do think analytics can help identify gaps. By gaps I mean the things that the tournament committee uses for seeding that don’t align with how good the team is. They have imperfect data too, but you can do better than average by identifying those.

What’s great about this tourney is any team can get hot for 40 minutes and steal 1 sometimes 2 games. The upsets happen in the first Weekend when everyone is nervous and players choke under the showtime pressure. The settle down after that first win but The higher your seed the less you have to lose meanwhile a high seed is supposed to win and has all the pressure that potentially failing brings. You need to do your homework on Missouri if you “forgot they were in the tournament”. Looking them up on Ken Pom and it saying a lower ranking doesn’t tell the whole story. 6-4 against AP top 25, at least 6 quad 1 wins and no quad 2-4 losses. UConn…..If the finals are in the state of Texas, and UCONN is seeded, they get my vote. Since 2000, they are 4-2 to win it all in Texas with only one no show (2018). I’d also like to mention that since 2000, UCONN and not the other historical blue blood basketball schools now have the most national titles with 4. Put some respect on the Huskies.
