      Yeah, it makes me wonder whether the whole poem is just the imagination of jealousy, without the narrator feeling it… or if the “attempt” is the attempt at expressing the feeling.

    I did like this poem, but I feel like the jealousy only works for someone who has self esteem. As someone who is working to see herself in a good light, I couldn’t really compare myself to a new woman and come out on top. My jealousy would have to be infused with just a bit of self loathing, unfortunately, in order to make this poem more relatable to me specifically.

      Most jealousy is more self-loathing than anything else.
