When I met my fiancé, her "baggage" included a VHS copy of this gem she got from a video store that went out of business. I'm still with her 32 years later and I am a lucky man. Thanks for the review.
This movie was out at the theaters, and did incredibly well. It did not take itself seriously and the audience knew it. It was Blazing Saddles in Space, written by Mel Brooks' understudies.
For the past 37 years or so (I'm 43 now) I have had random memories of myself at my grandma's house watching the scene with the guys on the conveyor belt moving toward the chomping metal jaw... for the past 37 years I had convinced myself that it was all a dream (because how could that be real???) I can't put into words the pure shock of seeing that scene on this episode!!!!! I never thought the day would come where one of my most random childhood memories...that I was convinced was a dream... would be proven to be a reality. I am just in utter shock right now... This episode just changed my life!
I remember being ~11 years old and seeing this movie at my friends house, and asking his dad "What does castration mean?" - dude gave me a dictionary 🤣
Back when people owned dictionaries. Those were the days. When you were a master of knowledge cuz your family had an encyclopedia set. Now everyone has all the knowledge and we are dumber... imagine hearing that when we were younger...
I saw this in theaters as kid and loved this movie. I understood the story as was totally swept up in it. I need this on DVD. I do not consider this a bad movie. Just 80s fun.
Movies like this make me miss the 80's even more than I already do! Pure goofiness, entertainment for entertainment purposes. When effects were practical and stuntmen really ate it.
This movie is one of the greatest movies of the 1980s. You can’t change my mind. It’s classic 80s sci fi camp. I probably watched this movie a dozen or more times as a kid in the 80s.

My Dad took me to see this in the theater as a kid. I was hoping to see their reactions to the "Space Herpe". The movie was supposed to be a spoof of space and pirate movies. Also surprised nothing said about former football player John Matuszak. Lol
I have extremely fond memories of this movie. I remember being 15, renting the vhs player for a sleep over and loving this. I don't care how bad it actually is, this will stay with me for all time.
Oh boy, another 1980s HBO Saturday afternoon staple. "The ship has Herpes..." Ah, the memories. And to Jason's point, I think this was on TBS in heavy rotation at one point in the late 90s.
@@JasonBrant They ran it on HBO in heavy rotation, probably from 1985 to 1988. My friends and I used to joke that either Ice Pirates or the Last Dragon would always be on HBO at some point during the weekend. If you want to see some really prime 1980's snow-inspired movies, check out Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone, 1990: The Bronx Warriors, and Yor: The Hunter from the Future.

I remember my parents going to to see this and leaving us with a babysitter. It's one of the few times I can remember them going out on a date. Years later my mother saw it in the video store and thought I should watch it- she remembered it being funny and about space. She had somehow forgotten all of the inappropriate sex jokes and was really uncomfortable watching it with me. They did rerun this all over cable later on.

Saw it in theater as well and it still holds up IMO. Yes it is campy and bad but in a fun way and old interviews have talked about it was basically trying to be over the top campy and dumb
In my country there was a TV channel dedicated to show B movies all the afternoons, was basically a double feature every day. God bless the old might of the analog TV of Yore!
having grown up watching the Ice Pirates several times.. it.. sort of makes sense, but it is still completely insane. Watching the two of you lose your damned minds trying to watch the time warp portion was epic

I loved this movie so much as a kid , it was right up there with Barry Gordys The Last Dragon ,Big Trouble In Little China all the the greats. The scene with the castration machine is epic!
I LOVE this movie! Love it. I love the mix of mid-evil with space-age. I love the ice pirates theme. And honestly many of the shots make more since if you look at them from the early 80s...like Buck Rogers. I love it. It did come out in theaters. We totally saw it in a theater. Did I mention that I love this movie. It is meant to be campy and fun...and it was.
Loving the t-shirts guys! Jason called it again, the costumes look like they came from music videos. This was so random, your reactions were priceless 🤣. The death of the robot family was brutal 🤣. What an odd film. Thanks guys
I did not expect to find such a gem on a Thursday night… Amazing!!! Actually makes me want to watch the actual movie (whilst drinking heavily) so I can make sense of what I’ve just seen!
I saw this in theaters when I was in Junior high. It was hilarious then and it still is today. And it has been on several cable channels over the years so not sure how you could have missed it. This is what is called a parody its purpose was to make fun of as many different scifi movies it could and it does just that. Somethings are not meant to be critiqued or over thought they are made to be enjoyed! Keep up the good work and bringing true entertainment to those who otherwise might never know.
Oh my!! I saw your update and still caught off guard. Fun fact: after 5 years of work, my sister found out my adopted grandma was from the Brant family. Life makes sense now. 😁
This was definitely in theaters. I got my parents to let me see this on my own at 11 or 12 because it was PG!!! I loved it as a kid and as an adult it’s very nostalgic! Only reason I was able to make some sense of it WAS because I saw it as a kid!!
Amazon tells me that Ryan’s Babe has been delivered, hope to see it on your next unboxing and looking forward to this new episodes and two episodes per week! You guys rock!
I saw this in the theatre when I was a kid and I absolutley loved this movie! It's still one of my alltime favorite movies even as batshit crazy as it is!
I was 13 years old when this movie was released in theaters. I remember my friends and I sneaking in to watch this. This brings back so many memories. It was such an oddball film but it was the 80s. So many films back then were just total insanity. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, as odd as it was.
Oh i’m so glad you liked it!! We watched this when we’re kids and loved it! I can’t believe you didn’t mention the Space Herpes 😂😂 Another great episode ❤️
I loved this movie as a kid saw it several times. Watched it again a month ago on HBO max after hearing it on one of your videos, it was much different to watch it as an adult lol
If you watched this as a kid or teen in the '80s, you would have loved it. I was an '80s kid in the '80s when I first watched it. Loved it then and I still do. I can't get any of my friends to watch it, probably because I have reputation for recommending movies like Street Trash, Tourist Trap, Freaked, Bad Channels, Seedpeople, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space. 9:30 Fun fact: The Jonestown cult didn't ackchually drink Kool-Aid. They used some off-brand knock-off. 20:23 Apone quote. 24:40 That's John Matuszak, yo! Yes, the same guy who played Sloth in 'The Goonies'! 29:25 Have you seen Street Trash?
Luckily the ice pirates obscure enough might be safe from the Hollywood remake machine. An ice pirates remake will remove outer space, aliens, comedy, sex, be grim and dark and be about global warming or something.
The only thing missing, was Bobby Ewing waking up at the end of the movie. The protagonist starred in the TV show "Vegas" in the '80s, he was a fairly big thing back then.
This being one of my favorite movies and serving as a resident keyboard warrior, I feel I need to say a few things here. I dont know how much of the dialog you guys hear, or if the volume really is that low. Turn it up, listen, they explain much of this madness. You guys are taking this way, WAY too seriously. It gives you exactly what you sign up for. Ice, Pirates, Space. Its a space opera with swashbuckling. I understand you probably dont want to ruin some parts, as its a recommended watch, but some of those things that bare out are the funniest parts (what the egg becomes). One of the funnier aspects is the thing you guys kept shitting on. Not to try and OVER explain. The robots are capable of emotion (as seen with the mommy daddy sad robot, Pimp bot and even the battle bots) . These robots know they are expendable. The Oil leak scene is one robot 'pissing' itself. The joke is they hate their lives and are even suicidal (Percy removing his own bolts). I mean at one point the guy pulls a gun on the robot to force it to go into battle. (lol) You talk them down, but they are easily one of the highlights. I assume because one of the robots may be a bit controversial you glossed over this? In this Time / Universe ...The robots are often the shock troops, the front line in in a boarding party in this world. The robots use melee weapons ergo Armor would make sense here. They have ranged weapons but it seems sparingly so, and probably are not much use vs. metal robots breaching and rushing you. I actually feel the robots are pulled off pretty convincingly. I understand why you glossed over the creature from the egg or the, possibly more hot button issue of one of the robots (Which, I think in context is fine and hilarious) but the Female Pirate Maida (Anjelica Huston) they meet is EASILY a high point and a great fight scene, you do the movie a disservice by glossing over some of this stuff. I also really enjoy the main character, Robert Urich as Jason, he has just enough charm and sleaze and over confidence. Heck even the 'person' they get the land cruiser from (and how) is pretty fun.... This is literally one of the only DVD I still own. I love this movie. Yeah I am guilty of liking stuff like battle beyond the stars, space hunter, or even star crash ... kind of? maybe? They are actually in a similar vein, once you ditch the patent pending light saber ALL sci-fi melee battles are more like pirate / clash of the titan / sword and sandal in space. This is LEAPS and bounds past many schlocky movies. You think this is rough? Try watching Blue Star, come back to this , it will look like blade runner. PS - *Moooo*uck yeah its a pimp bot! one of the best parts. Oh and also the big guy was spared from being redesigned, because he is a clergymen. How much of that is in name sake only and not practice, who knows. The full suit of 'armor' he is wearing is to make him basically a 'robot' guard for events. PPS - The Rain sex scene is mostly like a holodeck, I am not sure if the water is real, as they are dry after (continuity?) but even if it IS real, she is a space princess and quite rich. The song : ruclips.net/video/bgrtD4MIDRQ/видео.html
The lead actor, Robert Urich was a successful TV actor. he hit it big with the show Vega$ in which he drove around in a Corvette convertible. He made his film debut as a vigilante cop in Magnum Force and was on SWAT. Sadly he passed away at age 55 from cancer. RIP Robert!
If you want more sci-fi trash then I'd recommend the hilariously bad Starcrash. It came out one year after the original Star Wars but somehow looks like it was made 40 years before. Caroline Munro in a space bikini for most of it.
My dad was a pastor for decades. When he first started out, he would have a movie night at the church. He rented this movie and it was absolutely hilarious.

Two videos a week from now on! I'll check out Bullet Train - I liked the trailers.
@@JasonBrant 2 a week!?!? That's awesome. You guys crack me up
I loved this movie so much as a kid , it was right up there with Barry Gordys The Last Dragon ,Big Trouble In Little China all the the greats. The scene with the castration machine is epic!
This was such a crazy fun movie! The 80's were the best time to be a teen!
Do I love this movie?
Is the sun hot?
Loving the t-shirts guys! Jason called it again, the costumes look like they came from music videos. This was so random, your reactions were priceless 🤣. The death of the robot family was brutal 🤣. What an odd film. Thanks guys
Thanks so much!
I did not expect to find such a gem on a Thursday night… Amazing!!! Actually makes me want to watch the actual movie (whilst drinking heavily) so I can make sense of what I’ve just seen!
It’s greatness in movie form, watched as a kid and loved ever since
I saw this in theaters when I was in Junior high.
So you're also devastatingly handsome?
@@JasonBrant indeed. And sense of humor is equal as well. 😁
With an air of confidence not seen in this day and age.
Seriously, my dad had a satellite dish in the 80's, I've seen a lot including Space Pirates and The Black Hole. I literally have never seen this gem.
The Black Hole? With VINCENT and Old BOB?
I was 13 years old when this movie was released in theaters. I remember my friends and I sneaking in to watch this. This brings back so many memories. It was such an oddball film but it was the 80s. So many films back then were just total insanity. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, as odd as it was.
Oh i’m so glad you liked it!! We watched this when we’re kids and loved it! I can’t believe you didn’t mention the Space Herpes 😂😂 Another great episode ❤️
Ship's got herpes
I may (or may not) have had a couple myself when you busted out the "Caddy Shack" reference, but I about busted a gut! hahaaa!!!
I loved this movie as a kid saw it several times. Watched it again a month ago on HBO max after hearing it on one of your videos, it was much different to watch it as an adult lol
I saw this in the theater. I remember loving it. LOL
This has to be my favorite reaction video so far from you guys. Too good.
All I remember from this movie is watching it as a kid and when the castration scene happened my dad lost his shit and turned it off.
🤣 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Best commentary on and episode so far.
"WHAT? ... what?....are they?....did they?..... What?... WHAT?!"
The only thing missing, was Bobby Ewing waking up at the end of the movie.
The protagonist starred in the TV show "Vegas" in the '80s, he was a fairly big thing back then.
Robert Urich. The princess was played by Mary Crosby, who was also a star in the 70s and 80s. She was on Dallas. Her father was Bing Crosby.
@@HadrianRex Right, I thought that I recognized her too.
Robert Urich was a fairly big thing after that. Y'all are forgetting _Spencer for hire_
@@bbb462cid Ya, he had a long run there for a while.
This movie WAS on TBS in the 80s. I remember watching this dozens of times, and laughing my ass off every time.

The lead actor, Robert Urich was a successful TV actor. he hit it big with the show Vega$ in which he drove around in a Corvette convertible. He made his film debut as a vigilante cop in Magnum Force and was on SWAT. Sadly he passed away at age 55 from cancer. RIP Robert!
He was also in Spencer for hire
If you want more sci-fi trash then I'd recommend the hilariously bad Starcrash. It came out one year after the original Star Wars but somehow looks like it was made 40 years before. Caroline Munro in a space bikini for most of it.
Sold. Added to the list.
Caroline Munro 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
My dad was a pastor for decades. When he first started out, he would have a movie night at the church. He rented this movie and it was absolutely hilarious.
This is the start of the long awaited two movies a week? I'm all for it, but my heart goes out to Jason and his sleep schedule!
Glad you guys had fun with this one. Keep up the good work. I loved this movie when I was a kid.
So I just found this channel and have been bingeing episodes, and was pleasantly surprised to see this on here, I must have watched this movie hundreds of times as a kid and never even considered it as a bad movie
This movie and the mix of the 10% beer gave you guys the perfect reaction 😂
2 videos a week now?! I'm here for it! I hope you're still going to be dropping one on Sunday mornings though! You guys have become an integral part of my lazy Sunday itinerary lol.
Thanks for reviewing this! One of my best friends was actually in this movie (disguised as one of the robots) and told me about it. He did not have good things to say about the production.
Haven't seen this one in at least 20 or 30 years. As hilarious as I remember! Pure madness, and your reactions were priceless. 😆
Man alive, I love this channel. Always find myself laughing along with you. Keep up the good work!
I got so excited when I saw you guys uploaded another video! Thank you.
“They just slaughtered that robot family” 😂
Hahahahaha the ball chomper!!! My wife was asking me how I remembered this. The dialogue was really quiet but really there wasn’t much to miss. Can you imagine if they managed to get wang wang in this.
Inremember watchin this as a kid. Crazy 80s movie. Havent seen it in 30yrs or more. Great pick. The looks on your faces was great. Thank you.
