Heads up on the UA Ruby. I'm on my 3rd unit now. My first one lasted less than 6 months and the 2nd one less than 2 weeks. UA was kind enough to replace because they were under warranty , but there is something wrong with the circuit that causes them to die and only make a clicking sound or audible hum through the speaker. Others have complained about the exact same thing. It isn't just a coincidence 2 of my units died and did exact same thing. Buyer beware. and YES, I ran proper power supply to them.
Great thoughts on what we think an amp sounds like in our head. The quintessential sound in a often from a record. And those have loads of microphone, EQ and analog gear color in the path.
Absolutely! We're always comparing to giants when we should be thinking 'do I like what this sounds like?'. I am guilty of that more than anyone. Cheers!
To get cleans on the RevivalDrive you need to set the blend to left for your clean tone. That should be your base tone, and then use the blend override on the additional footswitch to go max gain for dirty tones. Of course, you can still use your volume control to clean up from the boosted setting, but it's a higher gain pushed clean sound.
Another great comparison video. I found it very useful. Thanks Alex. Those UA amp pedals really do reproduce the tonal vibe of the amps they model. In comparison, I think of my RevivalDrive (Compact) as its own style of classic "amp." More than any real amp (or pedal) I have tried, the RDC is capable of bringing sounds out of my guitars that I never knew were in there. I think of it like "Vox, Marshall, Fender, RevivalDrive.". I look forward to your RD deep dive video.
Slide! Thanks for watching again, my friend. And I think you are right as well. The whole RD family is really their brand of amps right? Its the Origin Effects take on the classic amps that we know and love. Cheers!
I’m waiting on this video. I’ve had my revival drive custom basically since it came out. I love it but I also just ordered a Dream 65 and I can’t wait to hear the differences!
Just got a revivaldrive custom and jesus, running it into my reissue 62 princeton it turns the thing into a full. blown. PLEXI. I'm just stunned. The ghosting, the dynamics, it's all there, and I can finally achieve tones from albums I LOVE verbatim. It's like living a dream. I only got it because my Wampler Plexi Deluxe died, too. It was good, but this is the best.
Nice! I got mine over 12 months ago, use it a ton AND still discovering that there is much more I have not learned yet. You are spot on when you say "it's all there" as the Revival Drive is just filled with so much tone character to really get the sounds and tones that are in our head.
Listening with headphones, to me the revivaldrive has a much more natural sound. Less scooped and muffled sound like the ruby. The revival has really sweet harmonics. It has it all, lows, mids as well as highs. Really like the tones you get out of it
I appreciate that, Thomas. Thanks for watching. I try to make these videos entertaining and fun bc the subject matter can sometimes be a little dry haha. Cheers!
great video! If I may, can we see the UA compared to the Simplifier DLX next! Would love to hear the difference between the best digital modeller compared to a fully analog solution. Thanks!
I look at these new and fantastic pedals and wonder how they could possibly be worth the extravagant cost, and you've done an admirable job at demonstrating why here. There go the tax returns!
Most older AC30's / 15's had similar characteristics, but all sounded different - I think it's ultimately finding a sound we like but stop doing the tone chasing... Nice video.
Thanks dude! I was using Bias FX2 in Logic Pro X. This is how I get an FX loop with the Strymon Iridium & Bias FX 2 ruclips.net/video/xlK4XmMejUE/видео.html
@@SuperdangerStudios another super useful video! Thank you! I am new to this direct rig/ amp sim to FOH and am think a separate IR loader pedal would give more flexibilities in placing the modulation pedals in the chain. Please kindly do a video to stack uafx amps with revivaldrive going to FOH if possible. Thank you!
I would not do that only bc the Ruby is so specific of a tone that having a RD in front would be too confusing tone wise to dial something in. Really works best into a really flat/neutral amp/modeler.
Wait, are you saying the Revival Drive can be used as a cab/amp sim? Or just an amp? Not sure if you're running this though a cab... I feel a bit confused, since the Ruby is meant as a direct out cabsim-in-a-box.
Yup! The RD is an amp simulator! Tone stack, power amp, and everything. Here is an in depth video I did on it. ruclips.net/video/U7yL9DEooKc/видео.html
Ive done a FM2 and thought it sounded great. But i only was using it live with a wireless system so didnt get to sit down and really dive in. Do you have one?
I think it’s a bit unfair 😊 the revival does a lot better the Marshall sound to me. The Vox settings on the revival get close but no cigar imho -- but man, Revival is such an amazing platform
It was definitely unfair, but I think they needed to be compared bc the Revival Drive gets a lot closer than one would expect. But yeah, the Ruby smokes everything rn.
what are you going for here _ a blues tone? when I hear it I cant think of it sounding like something i would want in any song... not saying its bad.. if you like abrasive tone you got it. sounds fake
Yeah AC30 sounds aren’t for everyone. I’d love to hear what you think is a good tone. Maybe you can share some pointers on how you get your tone. Thanks for watching!

No way! Luckily haven’t experienced that with any of mine. Glad to hear that UA was helpful in getting you new units.
I recently bought a revivaldrive compact and a compact hotrod and OMG - words (and youtube) can't describe how good these pedals are
Isn’t it crazy? They sound amazing!

Wow, that Revival drive sounds really amazing as an AC30!! Says an Edgewannabe 😉👌👌

Right on dude. Have you seen this video I did w the dream and the Revival Drive?

Like so much your toys.... 😂
I have an iridium but wow... You show us always great ways to explore our sound!
Happy new year!
Happy new year! The Iridium still has so many sounds to explore. Thanks again for watching.

Yes dude! It is insane. One of the most transformative pedals. Works great as a direct in for recording as well.

Nice one man - you're a very good and soulful guitar player - which adds a lot to a video topic like this I think!
I appreciate that, Thomas. Thanks for watching. I try to make these videos entertaining and fun bc the subject matter can sometimes be a little dry haha. Cheers!
I hope you ran the Revival Drive into the Ruby :)
Ah! I did not. Sorry! I’ll do one where I have revival drive going into the UAFX pedals. Gonna get the Woodrow soon and that’ll be on the list.
great video! If I may, can we see the UA compared to the Simplifier DLX next! Would love to hear the difference between the best digital modeller compared to a fully analog solution. Thanks!
Noted! I will look into it!

Haha thank you! Some pedals price points do not correlate with their quality but these definitely do. Enjoy!
Thank you for such a great comparison
Glad you liked it!
Great stuff man, love this channel 📢
Appreciate it! Thanks for stopping by!
@@SuperdangerStudios I purchased the York Audio fender pack and was blown away by the difference in my Strymon Iridium so thanks for that 👍🏼💯

Super great video!!! Which IR loader did you use for the RD in this video? 🤘🤘 thank you

@@SuperdangerStudios Right, so it can't be used as a standalone pedal without a cab, unlike the UAFX sims or Walrus ACS1...
@@forestchild3261 yes you need to load an IR either in your DAW or with an IR pedal like the one from TC Electronic.
8:25 How called this lick?
Just some improv!
@@SuperdangerStudios I just learned this lick ([slide to fret 11]-->F# - A - E-->F# bend), I thought its origin is from specific player.
