Never seen this rig before looks great. What do you call the spring and middle bait clip and what size did you use?
So it's an SRT spring and a cascade swivel. Breakaway branded. Thanks for commenting, This rig was in this months sea angler
Carp fishing tactics…..adapted n changed makes the best sea rigs. Anti tangle, perfect presentation
Yes really good point , we can learn a lot. Sea fishings biggest problem is we don’t half loose a lot of gear so it can get expensive, I know Bass anglers who hate shiny leads and use camp carb ledgers
One of the better tutorials I have watched.
Thanks Ross, i keep trying to make them a bit better
Happy New Year!!! All the best in 2019 from Rodney and Leanne from Down
Under Perth, Western Australia!!! Take care and tight lines!!!!
Enjoyed watching the video, would be great to see some videos of your beach sessions too.
They're coming, promise ! Thanks for your comments. Next year will be more vlogging and venue based
Excellent looking rig ! Crimps are ok but powergum is so much more line friendly and acts as a shock absorber/buffer when a fish is hooked.
Yes agreed that balance between easier and quicker to make and a better rig
I was just at the tackle shop and didn't pick up cascade swivels, damn you!
I used to make these rigs in the 90s before Gemini ripped the idea off
What is the benefit of the springs? Are they really required?
Good instructional.
Yes I love the springs keep the hooks and bait close to the rig body stopping bait flying off - not required if your lowering them off a pier or a panned cast. Good question thanks
Luke use the F=ma ;), it just don't sound the same :), very informative Video nice.
What is the point of the first 5 turns on most of your knots, it’s only the second 5 that actually create the knot the first 5 just twist round the line. Watch the video and you’ll see it happen on both the swivel and the power gum stop knots.
Hi Andy, Yes I understand what you meen, you watch all those initial turns disappear and think well what was the point in that! There's a couple of reasons;
I find that those initial turns although playing no point in the knot do add rigidity making the knot assembly easier to hold with thumb and finger and it keeps everything tight. It also makes the turn neater and more uniform. You make a good point and this was brought up in previous episodes. I think I've also got in to the habit now! Thanks for watching and your comment, Matt
@@SaltwaterAngler - I thought exactly the same as Andy when I first tried this knot. The first turns end up outside the knot when you pull it down, so what you're left with is basically a uni-knot.
