Damn that deduction about the mage secret was pretty insane, knowing runes, barrier and counterspell are the only ones with types in this set and having checked for CS deducting it had to be one of the others.
I appreciate Kibler understanding this should be a leaner, 30 card deck. Being able to reliably deal in excess of 30 damage in two turns with just your hero attacking after Odyn makes this a sort of long-game combo deck, not a control warrior of old where you grind through fatigue.
2:50 Yeah this makes no sense, clearly the animation is understood as a death, it has the death voiceline, that doesn’t happen with remove from the game effects. That should definitely work
Another inconsistency by Blizz, if there are no hand space when Rogue played Shadow Scabbs for example, the minion simply died, but that Thore Belore doesnt even got dormant in the process, lol.
While I’m not defending Blizz, I think it makes sense that dying through “my hand is too full” is not really “dying”. It’s more like you’re cast out of the game. It’s a simple fix. Just take the skull and cross bones off the animation (and my the code consistent).
@@leeartlee915 nah it's clearly a bug with the dormant tag. Any deathrattle minion that is returned to a full hand triggers its deathrattle, and it has worked like this since launch
@@theOneAndOnlyLordArthur Well perhaps I’m just projecting my own wants and wishes as I minion that can’t return to hand doesn’t really “die”. It just has nowhere to go. I think the reason that you didn't get the Thori'belore egg when it was Ice Trapped was because it wasn't on the field anymore when it died. When it died it was either in your hand or some in between state but since it wasn't on the field when it died, it couldn't produce the egg. At least that is my best guess. Not saying that it shouldn't produce the egg because this some very technical behind the scenes stuff that Hearthstone does a bad job communicating to players.
@@PluffyCZ I agree. It is a bug. If they are going to show it dying on the field, it should count as dying on the field and you should get the egg. I was just hypothesizing on why I think the bug was occurring.
i can see why the thor’belor deathrattle didnt trigger, as it wasnt actually on board, and didnt have any room in your hand.. so it was ‘floating between hand and board’ when it did die.. but.. has that been changed from when the card first came out or something?
That Mage at the end was almost dead on board. Between the minions, the weapon and the hero power giving attack, I count 28 damage from Kibler on board. Were they really not planning to play around ANY buff, damage or armour gain?! They could have at least rolled secrets to try and get some disruption. Or remove a minion. Edit: they also would have known about the Astalor in hand. So they knew Kibler had lethal
I am not surprised that the card vanished after being returned to a full hand. Because as I understand it technically it did not die(at least not on the field) and so the deathrattle would not get triggered. It is like Sargeras sending minions into the Twisting Nether. That would also prevent the deathrattle to work. They should perhaps remove the death animation from this kind of situation to make it more clear.
@@basvanderwerff2725 He did in fact. He had 14 health, armored up and attacked with hammer (+6 armor). However he ran into explosives and wandering which summoned Voone which dealt exactly 6 dmg to him again and all he left on the board was Astalor. Instead of that, playing the second Odyn had the exact same outcome in terms of health and he would have a better board and future possibility. The Odyn, in case it lives could then trigger the wandering and he could smack face and win the turn after. The opponent could have only traded King Krush in (which they would never do) so the Odyn living is actually very probable. It was the same situation as when playing the first Odyn: He is behind, true, but his opponent doesnt have lethal setup, not even with a King Krush and then you just have to go for the biggest counterplay of setting up potential counter-lethal.

for those wondering, the trigger effect of freezing trap forces a minion back to hand first, then increases the mana cost of the minion, if there is no space in hand for the minion, it is then destroyed as a hidden mechanic to deal with overfilling of hand size, meaning that the game registered the card being 'in hand' when the trigger to destroy it went off meaning that it couldn't trigger the deathrattle as it was no longer 'in play' hence why it just went 'poof'.
@@WaynerMachadoO i mean it's a well known mechanic, the fact that it's a surprise to people means it happens extremely rarely or that it's not been seen for a long time, hence my initial comment explaining it.
I'm sure most deathrattle register correctly with freezing trap unless they patched it. (at least it did for last 5 year or so) But in this case it may have something to do with the deathrattle specifically being replacing the minion with dormant egg.
The minion technically didn't die on board, it was picked up and returned to hand and as there was no hand space so it was destroyed but since it wasn't on board no deathrattle can trigger.
The thing is when you have full hand and your minions get "return to your opponents hand" they get insta killed. And the deathrattle says goes dormant. It should've summon a dormant Thori'belore. This interaction has been around since Rogue's sap and vanish is still in standard. That was definitely a bug.
I swear Kibler always finds the weird interactions, thor belore dieing from handsize and not having the revival egg is hilarious to me

I've always assumed bounced cards sent to a full hand were destroyed in your hand, not on the board. Is this really a bug?
you can see the deathrattle animation go off meaning it died on board, its a bug
Other cards trigger the deathrattle, the dormant interaction makes it bug
