great percussionist. he came up with all of the guys, eric moore, ronald bruner, thomas pridgen, the berkelee crew and the gospelchops crews. I'm sure he knew thundercat as a kid.
Yo Justin ain’t new. I learned of him in the Gospel Chops Shed Session videos on RUclips back in like 06 or 07 before he went out to NYC and started playing jazz. He got his rep up there….that’s where most people know him for. He switches between the Herbie Hancock gig and Thundercat now but as a gospel drummer I’ve seen him play stuff I thought was impossible. And he was maybe 18 or 19.
As a professional drummer myself thundercat group they have a sound of their own they are very unique they're very special very talented I love the the way they sound they have their own unique sound that's what makes this group
JUSTIN! 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️ My brother, you are killing so badly in this video!! You have such a unique gift, and you make it look easy!! Blessings... By the way, this kit aounds amazing! I saw you play live with the Craviotto. This one has its own tone as well. Big up!
It would be nice to see live music again. I guess have to get used to the reality where only TicketMaster and LiveNation exist. Hopefully you guys (and others) do tours outside of that monopoly in the future. Maybe 10 or 20 years down the track I'll be able to afford live music again.
As hilarious and ungrounded as your comment you took time out of your existential dread-induced neuroses is, the obvious answer to your condescending question is that no, 80s musicians objectively did not have this high of a technical skill ceiling to be capable of playing the compositions in this video. But good try jazz guy Interesting of you to quantify music in terms of time but not evolutionary spectrum
@@jerma7x WOW deep, too deep for me to even comprehend. Actually you sound offended. You shouldn't, it was a simple comment from a existential dread-induced neurotic. Lighten up, would be my suggestion. I liked whatever this was
Please do more drummers don't get enough least of all jazz ones people have no idea how much you carry the band literally everyone else in the band could dissappear and that would still be preferred over one without a drummer why as a bassist im always doing percussion on my instrument because I'd just sound boring and plain otherwise keep up the work
I never get tired of watching you play Justin, there's so much to learn from you! You killed this bro!
I learn of a new player everyday it seems…. This guy is special. Chops, feel, creativity, tempo all high level stuff.
He has solo stuff also.

It's on a venue by venue basis. This show for instance, was not under LiveNation...
Just use klarna payments bro
Go to a smaller venue NOT owned by these. Local clubs, theaters. Just saw one of my favorite bands for $30 and I was literally a foot from the stage!
@@Rimlickaz23 They all went broke.
LFG
This guy plays just like me🌚
9:56 ohhh

So...what time signature was this?
Infinity / 8
Poor floor tom mic... around 10:13 😢
7/4...
Bro your a great drummer. That’s ALL Thomas Pridgen licks my guy. You’re good enough enough to create your own sound.
Those chords are reminiscent of 70s Stevie Wonder LPs
..do I hear some Mahavishnu Orchestra...
name of this song pls
lone wolf and cub by thundercat
1:43 ..... I'm quitting playing the drums
ummmm isnt this *80's fusion? Hey cool too bad those 80's fusion guys didn't sell out those arena's but wow fast hands bro
80’s fusion bands weren’t doing colabs with rappers. 😉

When bass players want to be guitar players or worse…keyboard players?
When a bass player becomes an extraordinary musician.
You new to this? Ever hear of Jaco? O.o
Whatca terrible angle.
