  • During the Second World War there were a number of executioners who became infamous for their work slaughtering many people. But there was one man in Hungary who stood out because he was a priest who lead a death squad or a group of executioners that carried out chaos inside of Budapest. Following the Arrow Cross Party coming to power, Andras Kun wielded power brutally against civilians and he would break into hospitals and would slaughter hundreds.
Andras Kun's behaviour got too much even for the Arrow Cross Party and the Germans and because of this he was arrested and he would then sentenced to death at the end of World War 2. He was charged with being responsible for the deaths of around 3000 people, and Andras Kun was brought into Budapest for his execution on the gallows.

What a morally bankrupt man Andras Kun was, and to think he was a priest. It is bad enough for any ordinary person to commit crimes against humanity, but whenever a priest, who is supposed to be dedicated to serve God and man, chooses to commit those ghastly acts in the name of his religion, is just plain unholy. Worse, to bring God's name into such evil deeds is, in my opinion, blasphemous. Maybe I am wrong, but it sounds that way to me. Thank you for this latest eye-opening video of a rogue priest who later became a war criminal in Hungary during WW2. Keep on educating your viewers about the dangers of bigotry, hatred, and prejudice.

Morally bankrupt? Unfortunately, no. His morals were rooted in Christian ideology. If he were morally bankrupt, he wouldn't have specifically sought to murder Jews and other non-Christians. This priest's ideology is a direct descendant of the Crusades, the Inquisition and many other pogroms that Christians have waged against non-Christians. His morals were the entire problem.

Many more stories could be told of Catholic priests, all the way up to Cardinals and even the Pope, were complicate in the deaths of thousands of Jews. Most were never brought to justice, as the Church seemed to have some kind of Moral Immunity that I still cannot understand. Many war criminals were hidden by priests and given passage to safety after the war. To my knowledge, the Church has never atoned for these injustices, and as time goes on, probably never will. To me, the Church is a corrupt organization that preys on those unable to defend themselves, mentally and physically.

The Japanese hierarchy would not surrender, despite knowing they had lost.
They were allowing their soldiers and citizens to starve to death - that was how much THEY cared.
None of those bombs would have been dropped, if the Japanese in power had accepted that they had lost, even though it was quite clear they had. Hirohito SHOULD have been executed for war crimes.
EVERY last bit of blame for those bombs are ALL at the feet of Japanese war cabinet and Emperor.
The Japanese were warned repeatedly and chose to ignore all warnings and allow more of their military, and civilians to die unnecessarily.
If you are educated enough to research the dep ravity of torture and cruelty, starvation and murder of Japanese against Allied POW,'s, natives of the Pacific, the extra savagery of Indian POW's torture and murder, it would be hard to feel any sympathy for any Japanese.
The Japanese also a te Allied POW's - especially Indians. Favoured cut of 'meat' the back of thighs - but other human m eat also favoured. There was one case of 3 American air crew being killed just to have favoured parts ea ten by a particular Japanese officer, although they had plenty of food at the time.
The long proven depra vity of Japanese military in the Pacific, meant in the end, nobody cared what the cost was to the Japanese, to stop their evil.
It was known that the Japanese were going to kill all the slave POW's being worked in Japan, as soon as Allied troops landed. Therefore, the choice was forced on the Allies.
In fact, the only reason the Japanese DID give in, was not because they wanted to save their own people, but that the Emperor was terrified that the next bomb would be dropped on him.

I keep hearing about the banality of evil. Ordinary people you would never think would become mass torturers and murderers. A priest in this case. Ordinary young women who went in for jobs as low-level authorities in concentration camps. Young revolutionaries of particular ideologies. But I think the one thing that's common to all these cases is simply this: at some point they became absolutely convinced that they were never ever going answer for ANYTHING they did. That in the end, I think, it was really determines what is inside a human being. If you become convinced - really convinced - that you will never answer for something you did, that's when there will be no low to which you will not sink. Those of us that think we're basically good are usually aware that there persons around us that can make us answer for any evil we might do. Goethe once said "There is no crime of which I do not deem myself capable" Or, as Richard Pryor once said "Thank God we got prisons!"

    Some extra detail.
Kun as a Franciscan was an anomaly only insofar as to the exremes he went. His Franciscan brothers supported the Arrowcross party as far back as at least 1938. This is well documented, including visits by Szálasi to their monasteries.
The OP is very moderate when talking about the torture. Under Kun's eye, the Arrowcross men forced their prisoners into various sexual acts with each other and their tormentors as a matter of course. Their families, including small children, were forced to watch and shout encouragement.
When one of the hospitals was raided, the younger nurses were taken to the district Arrowcross headquarters. Kun then asked which of them were virgins. Two stepped forward. Kun then deflowered both with a police batton.
"Lined them up and shot them into the river."
The usual process was this. The policy was that every victim had to be tortured for a minimum of 20 minutes. For this, they had to undress to be naked, sometimes they were allowed to retain underclothes. After this they could reclaim underclothes if naked. Then they were tied together in groups of 4 and marched to the Danube and shot into the river. The reason for the technique was threefold. 1. Make running away almost impossible. 2. If a person was too weakened by the torture, the others would drag them along. 3. If a person was missed during the shooting, the others would drag them under the surface to drown. These trips to the river were called by the Arrowcross men "taking the Jews swimming", "cleaning the smelly, dirty Jews", etc.
It should be noted that Jews were not the only victims, just the largest group. The Arrowcross also kiled soldiers they thougt had deserted, younger men they thought should have bern soldiers, people they considered left wing (this could be anyone), or just people they wanted to rob. Any papers people might have had were usually ignored, they relied on their "intuition".

As to your implied denial ... There was plenty of small arms ammo available and the Arrowcross party members (since the party was in power since their German organized coup in October 15, 1944) was well supplied by both the Hungarian and German armies. What was in short supply was ammunition for heavy weapons and anti-tank weaponry. They more or less understood that they had no hope stopping the Red Army for long. So they expended what was available on killing their perceived enemies: Jews, suspected deserters, or shirkers, those with suspected left wing sympathies, and generally where valuables were available for looting, etc. 10-15,000 were killed by them in the 3-4 months after October 15.

As I said, small arms ammo was plentiful.
The events described here took place around January 12-14 on the Buda side. The defenders withdrew from the Pest side on January 11 blowing all 9 bridges. There was a breakout attempt around February 11. A complete fiasco with 1-2% of about 29,500 reaching their own lines.

*American* soldiers kill you for "God and Country!", *Muslim* soldiers say, "God is great", and on both sides of the war throughout history, have been Catholics, praying to their own national versions built upon "religious traditions", all devoid of God, because they do not know God. @neilfoster814 Год назад +3

Apparently it's called the "Hungarian Method" of hanging. Popular in Czechoslovakia, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. In one version the criminal is hoisted up to about 0.3m of the top of the pole, a 1.5m length of rope and noose is placed around their neck, and at the given signal the chest strap is released, as they drop the executioner pushes down on the head which in most cases is enough to dislocate the neck. The second method is similar, but a rope is also tied around the ankles and down to a pulley at the base of the pole. As the condemned drops, a second person also pulls hard on the ankle rope giving extra energy to the falling body, which if timed right is enough to make necky go snappy.
There is a video on YT of nazi Karl Herman Frank being executed this way , not as instant as the British hanging, but still got the job done.

    • @michaeljames4904
      @michaeljames4904 Год назад

In some ways arguably faster than even the long drop but an especially tactile form of capital punishment in which the hands of several executioners physically contact the condemned’s body, to directly cause death, with a loud dislocating _schlock_ and gravity just the helpmate.
A central European disregard for the illusions of conscience in which no one gets to pretend afterwards that, “the rope did it,” or “it was the guillotine blade, really, we just fastened him and pulled a lever,” or, “it was those naughty needles and injected chemicals, not us.”

@@neilfoster814 It's a continuation of the Wuergegalgen as used in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and continued in Hungary & Czechoslovakia after it was separated. It didn't snap the neck or dislocate vertebrae, it caused instant unconsciousness by pressure to the carotid artery, like a sleeper hold. After that death ensued. It was actually very humane and the Chief Executioner of Austria Hungary, Josef Lang, even got his assistants to do it to him, obviously not allowing him to die, so he could find out how it felt to be made unconscious this way, and he described it as pleasurable.

Hitler’s Pope? Hardly. He had already sent out an encyclical condemning what the Germans were doing, such that Hitler had planned to have him brought to Berlin to face charges. Goerbbels, however, persuaded Hitler not to do it, since it would not look good internationally.
It was no less an Israeli hawk than Golda Meir who praised openly “that wartime Pope,” who had shielded some several hundred Jews in the catacombs of Rome from exposure to the Germans in Italy.
The play “The Deputy” was commissioned by the Soviet Union to discredit this outwardly anti-communist pope. The Soviets decided to wait till he was dead before releasing it, knowing that Pius XII and other Vatican officials would otherwise have vehemently denied that the conversations depicted in the play ever took place
