🎸IN THIS VIDEO
In this video, I will be reacting to one of the most awesome ukulele Spanish duo I've ever seen.
I am referring to HONOKA AND AZITA Bodysurfing.
One thing that I love a lot about this video is how simple it looks-just two girls sitting by the beach playing beautiful music.
HONOKA AND AZITA's performance is flawless and smooth. Honestly, these two girls make it look simple, something that is not.
I hope you enjoy the video.
BodySurfing is actually a song on ukulele composed by Hawaiian Composer Herb Ohta. This is a cover actually.
teach us how to play this pls!!!!
yes plesea full tuitorial needed on this
There is a tutorial on Honaka and Azita channel
Yeahh mark !!! We want more ukulele reaction videos!!! And probably tutorials of those too😂😂😂!!!
Im with sangeeth on this one:-) Tbh Marco i find your 'reaction' video the only one so far (as far as I have seen of course) that is also instructive, thanks!
Jake Shimabukuro single handedly changed the ukulele forever! All these people playing today pay homage to the guy. Plus he’s the most humble player ever.
Jake and these gals caused me to buy a Kanilea for over $1000!!!! Of course, now, I've 5 ukes...
...including TWO Kanileas...
Almost didn't watch this after reading the "reacts to". Guess I've had enough of lazy RUclipsrs making lazy content. Great descriptions of the technique, keep up the good work!
Review Feng E, imho he is the best ukulele player alive. And at such a young age.
My favourite ukulele play is Marco😁
Big fan Sir ❤️
Absolutely something more spanish 😍
Coming soon.
Please check"Taimane" next she is dope🔥
Yes!!!!
Taimane and Jake Shimabukuro are the two best ukulele players
Jake ? Yes! Taimane ? 😅no...
@@Joero19 Jake do not compare with, Taimane, She used to practice with izzy when she was Young, A hawaian talent.
I love your reactions and the way you picked it up so easily! You're really talented
How can we forget about "Feng E" when it comes to ukulele!!!!
Aldrine Guerrero is a awesome ukulele player check him out
Check out Feng E!!
When you said that it's unusual to see her pick with her thumb and index finger, not in Hawai'i. The techniques that she is using is used by a lot of 'ukulele players in Hawai'i. I think that you need to look into the 'ukulele players as it doesn't that you are familiar with them. There are so many players that are fantastic but are not as well known outside the islands. 😊
I will! Thanks for suggesting this.
Why call them "Spanish duo" in the title when they're Hawaiian though.
They play something Spanish so that’s why I put that in the title. I am Italian, if I play something Spanish I’ll have to say I play something Spanish ... even if I am Italian.
@@MarcoCirilloUkulele this is actually a Hawaiian song by one of the greats, Herb Ohta. While there may be influences in Hawaiian music from other places, Basauri is correct, it’s a Hawaiian duo playing a Hawaiian song.
@@alynawatersmusica hawaïan song on Portuguese inspired instruments with a Spanish inspired chord scheme...
as long as we are all inspired I'm happy :-)
Love the video and also enjoying your playing too Marco … I literally have just taken up the ukulele, and purchased a Tenor Ukelele, so all this is way over my head at the moment, I never realised that the Ukulele was such a versatile instrument… thanks for your informative and really engaging videos.
Steve U.K.
Nice reaction! Try Feng E’s Body surfing too:)
Hi Please make 1 tutorial for bodysurfing...To play rhythms and riff by 1 person at same time...Please...Please...:)...I really wish to play atleast starting 1 minute part of it to begin with learning this in whole...
Check out Disney melody by the same 2 people on this video💯
I will! Thanks for sharing.
Yes please to more reaction videos especially for Toccata & Fugue by Tamaine. And a lesson? Thanks for your channel..so talented that you can arrange by ear. Amazing!
Found that, I am following your channel since 1 year with out subscribing you. So sorry for that. Subscribed.❤️ If you can make a tutorial on 'misirlou ' (Azita and Honoka). PLZZ.... 😊
Love from India ❤️
Marcus 'Feng e' his the god
You're amazed at their playing, but this is everyone's style in Hawaii
Yep. I am slowly listening more to their music! Great players 🎸
He's "Pretty impressed" - he should be when a constantly smiling 15 year old girl is a better player than he.
And, where's the "Spanish duo" nonsense come from? They are Hawaiian residents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are playing in Hawaii!!!!
Ahhhhh! I always forget to change the title lol. Sure they are much better than me and they are also much cuter than me so ... I have no hope! Thanks for reminding me looool! Ah, I changed the title :)
@@MarcoCirilloUkulele
They've gone there separate ways, though Honoka has her own YT channel.
It's so obvious that Azita was the better player. I believe that Azita had aspirations for med school - with her attention to detail and dexterity, she could become a brain surgeon.
Thanks for the acknowlegement, now try to behave yourself ; )
Now, where did I put my Kanileas...?
Correction: "there" should be "their".
Amazing talent of host and duo uke players. However, the speed they play at looks to be sped up. Perhaps it was played at a slower pace.
Oh no way. This is 100% legit!
Pleasee make a video on " On the Nature of Daylight "
Please do a tutorial of Gymnopedie No 1 or Gnossienne by Eric Sate!!!
James hill - Billy Jean, Temaine (who plays by ear ...does not read music!) also with Feng E and Jake
These girls make me crazy with some of techniques but I will not give up 🤬🤬🤬😂😂😂😂😂
By the way, those are WOMEN, not girls (would you call Jake S a "boy"). And Taimane is a virtuosa, up there with Jake.
I just wish Honoka and Azita's video/audio was better! It was such a great performance, my wife and I want to learn it so bad. We aren't advanced enough. She got the intro picking though
I was curious if you were going to look into "Jake Shimabukuro & Taimane jam "Bodysurfing""?
My favourite ukulele player....Marco Cirillo. You should try something like this but in your version with your tutorial and your explanation on why. I’m still impressed by you ✊👍
Hi, Please create more classical romantic songs for ukulele, very very please
These island girls were awesome!!!
Oh wow
We need a Cirillo-Bodysurfing Tutorial!🤝🤯
When i have Just started playing on ukulele, my husband showed me this video and Said "when will you play like this?" I Said its not gonna be....
You got onto the best of the best. Azita's picking in this Bodysurfing clip is AMAZING. I didn't know that this was even possible.
John
Could you please play the flamenco "The Night" on ukulele?
Can u tell me the brand and model of your uke?
Makai “t80
This is an awesome type of video! I've noticed that as I get better I do this with songs I hear. So it's cool to watch you figure out songs too. Thank you so much! 💜
Enjoy :)
You should check Davie504 ukelele song/solo that is epic ‘slap uke’.
At the beginning of this year, I saw an online ad from a really low-end ukulele manufacturer using this clip to hawk its $29.99 ukulele. Given that the ukes here are a Kamaka HF-3 (about $1,500.00) and a Kanile’a K-1 (also about $1,500.00), . . . it was not exactly an “apples to apples” comparison.
I agree. Some of these ads really try to manipulate the audience. Honestly, even if the ad was about the same ukes they play, you will still have to put in years of work to match the skill level. A great ukulele can help you improve faster. No doubt. However, you still have to put in the work. Of course, using this video to promote a cheap Uke is misleading ☀️🎸
Thanks for your input
I got a new view on it
I though she was using her thumb for the speed strumming but i just realised she is strumming 2 strings with her index
review taimane taimane taimane pls
Please do more reaction videos
I enjoy them :)
I’ll try!
It kinda sounds like the theme song to Gravity Falls.
Kudos to the editing. 3:53 the way sound increases. Little detail

This is really amazing, cant think of it but would love to learn it, dont know how... I am a newbie in Ukulele but so impressed that somehow want to climb the mountain in a day, so inspiring really. Can we have some guidance on how to move in this direction
I’ve been playing ukulele since 2017 and learned this song after 2 years of playing by watching the video he’s reacting to and taught myself by slowing down the speed and pausing it every now and then. It took and about a month to learn and a year to master but if you learn it which I highly recommend you do cause it’s just so fun to play, just keep playing it and practicing each time you pick up your uke and you’ll get better at the song as time passes on. I covered this song on my music channel Dawson Reid Music and it’s so fun to play.
Hawaiian classic!
Amazing playing, great reacting video, good to hear what you think they are doing to make the duo sound so good 😊
Is the spanish thing a click bait? What or who is spanish in the video?
The technique she used with the thumb is called tremolo.
You should figure it out and do a tutorial!🙏
Wow 😮 Amazing 🤩 Love your review.
Hi Marco, first I’m a uke newbie and really enjoy your videos. I love that you watched this for the first time on camera, made it very fun. Yesss, they are awesome and 7 yrs later these young women really rock the ukulele. I agree with others, check out Taimane. Plus we all get to visit Hawaii virtually…
Thanks a lot Elise.
Aloha from Hawaii
Aloha 🎸☀️
Loved it , been seeing them for so long . And your reaction inspires me to learn some from them 🌻
I suggest dont watch feng e U will get Feng ed..n get addicted
Love this video, it's not just a reaction but very interesting to hear your opinion and talking about technique and stuff like that!
First of pronounce the name of the instrument incorrectly. Its pronounce d ookoo lele, not yuku lela. The meaning in Hawaiian is dancing flea.
Oh wow. The Italian pronunciation is the same as the Hawaiian pronunciation. I guess I’ve always watched not Hawaiian people pronouncing the word so i though it was how you pronounce it. But if I pronounce ukulele in Italian I get the correct pronunciation so I’ll try that from now on ☀️🎸
This was amazing!!
I love YOUR unique playing. Still struggling with spanish cord progression to get close to your sound
Take it step by step. These progressions aren’t simple.
Spanish duo?? They Hawain ye tit
Grazie! Really enjoyed this vid. Take a look at Kalei Gamiao. Modern Hawaiian player (somewhat understated?) with interesting technique and beautiful tone.
what genre of music is the song?
yeah, there is another famous youtuber named Taimane, she can play ukulele like a super star.Another interesting bass player on youtube called Davie504(known as slapper),says that Ukulele is a mimic version bass, and it's weak(I wanted to slap on his face).
Plus,Taimane has a special kind of ukulele,I don't know what type it is called,it has a double G string, which makes it sound unique when playing especially classical melodies
Wow really good stuff
Very good chanel 🎶
You should definitely check Taimane :)
Looks like everyone is suggesting this 😊
@@MarcoCirilloUkulele sure, she's an awesome player. A duet, or even better a trio would be something great (or a quartet with you)
If you get a chance, check out Jake Shimabukuro's song Dragon. He has been compared to as the "Jimmy Hendrix of Ukulele", he doesn't sing so me makes the uke sing for him.
nice some names of chords and/or some chord progressions even if non exhaustive would have been appreciated by (noobs) uke lovers...yum yum :-)
I really enjoy your videos and channel Marco. I've been learning the uke for 3mths you have helped heaps
Check out Evan De Silva. He's an amazing ukulele prodigy.
"Body Surfing" is somewhat of a ukulele classic with the best uke players. Jake Shimabukoro is of course great.
Really insightful, Marco. You mentioned that you are also a guitarist. How about a video at some point aimed at guitar players crossing over to the uke?
I would love a tutorial to learn some of these phrases and licks
I’ll try.
It's so amazing how you catch on this video like nothing! What at awesome talent you have! I wish to acquire someday! And thank you so much for your videos I've learned so much!😊
That moment, around 7:30, when you just sit hugging your uke and watch the girls playing - that's me every time watching your videos :D
Need this kind of reaction videos with complete guitar tutorial +tabs.
Thanks in advance..
Enjoyed this immensely. Wondering, how do you keep your fingernails from breaking?
I don’t know 🤷♂️ I stay away from gardening and climbing 😆
The gals are using acrylic nails instead of guitar picks.
Interesting commentary. I wouldn’t have seen or heard what you did even if I watched it 100 times.
Unravel Feng E pls
Marco, here is your challenge: Get me to their level!🤣🤣🤣🤣😂 malagueña 👍
This is the video that made me want to get a uke and learn just to play this song! Can't find any good tutorials tho on how to play it so.. that sucks!
Amazing
Do review Feng E
1stttt viewwwww
Yes please
Lesson ?
Love this Marco. Its a step up from your last video though.
Today m practising your spanish melody composition
Let me see, outside the obvious players that perform on a professional basis (Jake Shimabukuro, James Hill, Feng E...), I find that some non-professional players are really fun to watch and some have techniques I'd dream of being able to reproduce.
For example, MusicalMylow for percussive playing (watch his video titled 'Stolen Dance Ukulele! (Gluten Free)' or the one for Teardrop by Massive Attack).
There's a single video from this guy: John Dupra (Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Solo Ukulele) I wish I can eventually reach that level.
But there's also so many talented 'regular' players I enjoy watching - and trying to understand what they are doing, many say they play without partitions : WS64 (ex: Drive), erivel and dozens more, mostly men, but fortunately more and more women.
Many are asking you to watch Taimane, she's pretty much the only one I cannot stand, I find her exaggerated manners interfere with enjoying the music. Or maybe her long nails, I don't know!
But even tough usually I find the videos 'xyz reacts to abc' useless, if you actually comment with your ukulele on hand and give a few insights on the techniques and/or chords being played, then that becomes a useful exercice.
Take Care.
I found remained difficult to watch too...close your eyes ...look away???
Nice breakdown of what we're seeing and hearing. Those girls are awesome players!
Yes that video is amazing! I love it as well, the girls are super cute and true virtuosi 😍. Wonder what types of ukuleles the used here? And hope they were able to monetize the video, it would be unfair if with 20mln + views and keeping up with the comments they were not paid at all. *** re reviews - I love Tamaine's Neptune Storm and curious about the difference between a 4-string 5-string uke.
Type?? If your mean "size", they are tenor size. Brand? Kanilea.
I’ve been trying to learn this song for a year now and I still can’t get it right lol
She seems like a prodigy to me, how do we find this video?
yes we want the similar version you mentioned!! a tutorial please!!!
