When buying into CXT I decided to go brushless where possible and got the HP332D. I’m a fork lift truck tech, and went 12v for lightness and compact size, to get in those awkward places. It is an excellent drill and I only really use 18v if necessary, which usually means drilling over the capacity of the chuck, i.e.10mm. (In metal) It’s powerful enough and doesn’t overheat, I’ve certainly never had it smoking, I’m very happy with it. However...it’s currently about 3 times the price of your HP333D! Yours really is a bit of a bargain, you can almost write it off as a consumable.
Makes you wonder if the 40v is really necessary especially as there are new and better battery cells coming which should provide longer running times at sustained voltage. Yes agree, body only and they have a life. I have to say I really punished that 331d and when I get a new motor in it, which I will when I have a number of parts to buy to justify the delivery charge I am expecting it to be as good as new. That's the quality of Makita. Good bang for bucks in my opinion
The delivery charges on a lot of things really are a joke when you look at how cheaply it can be done via the likes of Hermes, even allowing a bit for packaging and labour time it is still crazy how they charge so much. It would be great if you could do a video about why Brushless is better. I have never had a brushless tool so don't really know what I am missing out on?
I assume BL motors are just more efficient and maybe smaller. Can I tell that when I use the tool? Maybe not, I don't think it's big enough a jump but it's only going one way
Don't understand your 331d drill smoked out due to being under powered for your job loads yes you replaced it cheap enough, very cheap at £30 which is better than a repair or buying a drill kit and means your 331d charger & 331d battery etc aren't wasted, remember my makita smoking breaking part, but won't you run into the same problem of over heating ?
No I've also bought a DTD153 18v monster for the bigger jobs, video to follow. The 331d and 333d will be user for lighter jobs. I should have invested earlier but there you go

Do you have any info about HP333 is it brushless too?
I think this is a brushed motor, still good though for the price
Is the hp333d good enough for somewhat thick concrete?
No, you need an SDS drill for that. A corded one will be cheep enough or Makita have a 12v one I would recommend
How long do we charge the batteries ? I just got mine and new to this tool just to use at home..any comments much appreciated
I guess it depends how much you use it
Nowadays, everything are rushing for speed, I see, slow will be good too .in drills tools.soft wooden drilling, driving bolts,nuts,...will be smoothly
Very true

Thanks, we have more coming 👍
У меня тоже подгорел, неудачная модель
I think I just used my one on jobs that it wasn't designed for. I got more than my money.worth
