Unpopular Opinion: The amount of Gourmand/Vanilla content is OD! There are so many interesting scent profiles, but the amount of content for gourmands is crazy. I don’t wanna smell like foods! 😂😂

Yessss! I agree 💯💯💯 I don’t like overly sweet literal food smelling gourmand fragrances either. I’m not jumping on any hype trains and I’m not participating in this mass over consumption mindset. I buy what I like and take most social media content with a grain of salt. There are a handful of YT Perfume channels that I watch and trust. Nowadays with paid sponsorships and “Influencers” pushing overhyped products a lot of things are over rated and not worth it. IMO Perfume is just too subjective and personal. You really have to know yourself and what you like otherwise a lot of money will be wasted 💸🤯🤦🏾♀️
Vanilla is my absolute favorite scent. Since the end of last year I have been trying new fragrances. Vanilla is still at the top but I have learned to like other fragrances as well.

Too many new releases, i agree. This year, I limit myself to 5 fragrances max. And I already bought two. I need to remind myself that the fragrance will still be here years later so no rush to buy everything right now

I love single scent reviews! Especially Love, Like or Letdown!! They're so detailed, but they're also varied from the standard one fragrance reviews. I also like when a new fragrance is compared to an oldie. You can get a good idea if you'll like it if you are familiar with the older one.
I agree with you on blind buying. Once you are experimented enough to know the notes and styles of frangrances you like, blind buying kinda becomes a game. I love smelling my fragrance and see if it matches my expectations or not. Most of my blind buys are successful but I got burned too.
I agree!! I think I’ve blind bought more than I’ve actually sampled first. I know what notes I like and if they’re in the fragrance I’m sure I’ll like it. I’ve only been burned once!!
My unpopular opinion is I’m tired of HOS. I think it’s because of all the new affiliate PR girlies. It’s like every time I’m scrolling through my subscribe tab. all I see is HOS has a sale go buy. HOS released a new fragrance this week go buy. It’s just annoying now 🤦🏾♀️. I feel like we as subscribers are constantly pushed to buy from certain brands like HOS, Sol de Janeiro etc. I personally don’t have anything from those brands, because, I just can’t seem find something I genuinely love.
Frankly like House of Oud, HOS relies on its package. They have a couple of nice scents but not for those prices.
We as consumers arent obligated to buy though. Influencers are supposed to influence, thats what the job entails. We just shouldnt follow ppl who make us feel preasured to buy stuff🤷🏻♀️
@@HennyCranberryy I am aware that is what an influencer job entails. Along with you and everyone else. No we will not all buy, everything an influencer post, we will not all use every affiliate link etc. I am just expressing how annoying some brands are becoming.

I couldn't agree more with you about missing one fragrance reviews. Unfortunately, these are not very popular and that's why we don't see them so much. It's a shame
I am with you on not everything needs to be beast mode and we have too many new releases from several houses: Tom Ford, Kayali, DS & Durga, just for starters. They lose the feeling of being special imo. I see this in makeup too. We are constantly bombarded and it's overkill to the point that I'm no longer interested in some lines. You're so right and it's a turn off.
I have chosen to put my concentration only on certain niche brands that I have come to know and love. This keeps me centered and focused and saves money.
Unpopular opinion: on social media, Kayalı's fragrances are graded on a curve. The passes that reviewers give the releases from this house are incredible. It the brand repackages urine, 99.99% of reviewers would tell us how "fun" and "amazing" it is.

I actually wear my fragrances for me because it a mood boost for me, but if i get compliments it makes me wear it more, the thing is that when they ask for the name I usually don’t even remember. It’s bad .
This is why i like Dyptique as well, they typically only release one new scent a year.

I really enjoyed listening to this video Ayesha! Honest opinions are so, so needed! Very few content creators will express their opinion about the fragrances they have received as PR. I hope the fragrance houses like Guerlain, Initio, Rojas, Marly MFK, Nishane, ExNihilo don't continue to raise their price as I don't care either for houses like Kayali and Navitus which in my opinion are more marketing than quality.

The fragrance releases are overwhelming! I agree. My unpopular opinion is, just because it's niche, doesn't mean that it's better, doesn't mean that it will last longer, and doesn't mean that it's more complex. I truly believe that you blind folded the frag girlies, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. 🤷🏾♀️

Hello Ayesha! I’m *always* here for these videos! Some influencers seem scared to tell their genuine thoughts on products. Probably their truth will block brand deals or sponsorships…
The funniest thing is to see them bend themselves into the figure 8, trying to extol the virtues of a bad or mediocre scent. I cackle every time they spend more time talking about the packaging (which is really not that special) than the actual scent.

This was a fantastic video 😊. I will agree that some houses are pushing fragrances out so fast. They don't give you time to get to know the fragrance before another one is pushed out. Which they are starting to smell similar to me. I know ive gotten caught in the 'I must have it, because so and so said I needed it '😂. I have been doing my own thing of chasing fragrances that appeal to me, not hyped. I enjoy your content because you have a true passion for fragrances. You give your honesty opinion. I am an over-sprayer but I have to agree that not all fragrance should be beast-mode. I was over spraying Elba Pura so much as a beast-mode fragrance that it is, and now I can't stand musk in some perfumes, I also ended up giving the perfume away. I've learnt to not over-spray the beast-modes ones. Also, blind buys get me excited😀

So do I but I feel like I gravitate to all the pretty full sized bottles I have. I stopped buying full sized bottles last year. I'm done. And thousands upon thousands of dollars gone in the process.

I agree with you, so many fragrance releases. For a normal consumer, or a smaller collection like myself… I could keep up even if I wanted too. I really do miss single fragrance reviews. I hold out for some of those reviews when I get something off my wishlist.

The tea was hot!!! 🍵 I only jave one Tiziana Terenzi perfume Tabit, 2 decants and a few samples. I understand what you mean by them starting to smell the same, although they are different.
Now, what you said about the amount of fragrances that were released last year. Yeah, that was too much. This year I will, most likely, purchase fragrances that are on my wishlist from last year. I am trying to get a system going, so I don’t overspend.

I love single fragrance reviews when it’s detailed. Has been worn for a few days and the content creator really took their time before releasing the review. Nowadays a lot of people are trying to be in the first group of people to put out a first impression when that doesn’t help me personality. I want to know about projection, sillage and performance before purchasing something

And how many shower routines are we gonna get. Please please..... we know by now how to layer. Nothing is wrong with blind buying a fragrance, i have bought a few gems from this. And I buy my fragrances on what I like not what you are gifted. That's just my rant. 😅😅😅

I agree with you on this entire video. I just can’t do another Tiziana fragrance. I own Delox and that’s enough for me. They are too beast mode for me, and I love a hot and heavy fragrance. But they all smell the same to me because of how strong they are. It’s just too much for me.
I love Kayali and Mona seems to be such a beautiful soul… but they could’ve given us one oud fragrance and I think we would’ve been satisfied lol. The four coming out at once was a bit overwhelming for me. Though I do understand that they wanted to offer variety, so I appreciate that as well.
I love Kayali as well. Not all are hits but most are for me.
In my opinion it’s often hard to smell fragrances in climates like FL. The wind from the ocean and the oppressive humidity can just wilt a fragrance.
And yes RBF is an affliction that only my fiancé can see past. Lolololol
I agree on blind buying!!! I mainly stick to blind buying from a fragrance house I know I get along with but sometimes I just want to take a risk and experience a new house totally blind. I did that recently with Profumum Roma and I have not looked back. I love everything I have purchased thus far. I love the experience of spending time with a new fragrance. Getting to know it. I think I feel a stronger connection with it or something like that…. Maybe that’s weird but there it is. Lol

-everything doesn't smell like baccarat.
-Stop using frargrantica for notes when these companies have the correct notes that They Created.
-stop down playing grey market sites just because YOU don't want to shop there!
-This vanilla trend, exhausting

Kayali reminds me of how Beyonce is to me. I like the person, admire the work ethic but dont care too much about the products. Now I think the Vanilla Royale is excellent and the Pistachio Gelato is a lovely headturner but those are the only 2 I truly enjoy. I returned Vanilla Oud immediately (im not too big on ouds anyhow,Vanilla 28 is the type of vanilla I hate and it was ever present in Silk Wedding and yet so many people love it so its whatever, but I think Mona is a such a sweet lovely hardworking person, very supportive to others so just like with Bey. Again Like the person, love some songs but can take or leave her music for the most part and the most recent album cemented that which is crazy because the house music genre of Renaissance is one of my fav genres, I just dont think she did it justice. anywho. yea lol.

How do you do that though? How do you make your choices? Assuming you mean full bottle buying. I’m wearing Roja’s Elixir pour femme today and would have been VERY annoyed had I blind bought a full bottle. Does not smell anything like I expected from reviews. Maybe it comes with experience as another poster suggested. Well, I’m obviously not there yet.
@@LouisaDD covid changed my sense of smell so because my smell is not correct and but perfume based on reviews and then I get my husband's or children's opinions when it arrives. It's so exciting for me. As long as I smell good and not in a mature way I'm happy lol. I blind bought all of my parfums de Marley and those bottles are expensive lol

Keep glazed is my favorite bc I found it unique so I rushed to collect more from that house but found they are underwhelming and easily cloned by other brands. I feel the same about HOS. I blind brought three and was disappointed in the lack of originality; everything from them smells like something I already own. But I’ll never stop blind buying. Once you know what works for you, you can have more successful blind buys with just the occasional miss. I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for being honest!

I’m with ya about the speed of new releases and slowing down. Kayali releases too much and too fast for sure, but at least their stuff is semi-affordable. Navitus and their related brands are ridiculous, including the pricing and I have no plans to patronize them - EVER. I recently watched one creator who believes the frag market is saturated and that the bottom is about to drop out. Interesting prediction…and as we all know, markets are cyclical for sure.
I don’t blind buy as much as I used to however most of the fragrances that I’m interested in are not available over here🇿🇦🇿🇦. I have already blind bought a fragrance from Maxaroma when they were having a massive sale🤩🤩. Yes the new releases are just a lot but I have a choice of not buying them just like what I have done with some hyped up brands😉😉. I’m only going with what I love whether it’s hyped or not only because I learnt to trust my nose 🤩🤩.

Good video...I totally enjoyed hearing your opinions. I too need to like the bottle and the name of the fragrance. Packaging to me is important. Tiziani - I have not found one fragrance that I like from that house..there is something in that DNA that I don't like or doesn't work on my skin. I have given up on them. The house of OUD...love the bottles and I have sampled several, there was maybe 1 I did really like...but I don't even remember the name, so I couldn't have liked it that much...lol. I have only been on a real fragrance journey for about a year and I am enjoying your videos, opinions, recommendations, etc. Thanks so much. Have a great weekend.
You are right✅️ So many new fragrances and before you can buy and enjoy one, 3 more has been released. Some fragrances smell alike. I like when comparison videos point out the similarities like Love Don't Be Shy Extreme by Kay Ali and Oriana by Perfume De Marley, they smell the same. I enjoyed your video😊
right now is the best time to get mind games because none of the counterfeiters = discounters, have them yet. they are having a hard time replicating the bottles. and I'm so happy about it. 😂

Absolutely agree about the blind buy. For reasons! A) there is no greater joy than going “hey okay I’m gonna do it,” and checking out…that terrible wait for it to show up…and then you open it and it’s a SUCCESS, you have validation that your what I call “brain nose,” the way you *think* a perfume smells, is correct! Love that. B) I’ve tried scents in store as well, loved them, got home and took the plunge to order and been sooo disappointed and underwhelmed. Case in point: Burberry Goddess. LOVED her at Macys. But when I saved up a lil and bought the big girl gift set and it arrived, I didn’t like it so much. Ended up selling all but the travel spray, kept because I remember all I went through to get it 🤣 I could go on, but those are the two biggest reasons I love blind buys. Yes I’ve been disappointed-Narciso Rouge-but I do trust myself more and more each time. And often, even the less-successful (but not necessarily UNsuccessful) ones grow on you and become something special that you can’t live without, and you/your nose grow a bit in the process.
Anyway, continue lol had to give my two cents!

New Initio??!! Did I know about this and forget?! EeeeK! Excited! If I didn't blind buy, I'd probably own about 5 fragrances! And the Kayali hype ruins every release for me. The hype and campaigns for Kayali are just TOO much. And how many are actually amazing?? Usually a let down imo.Having said that, I do own and love a couple. Ex Nihilo Love & Crime is delish🤤 but that’s all I’ve tried & they are not spoken about on RUclips beyond that fragrance. EDIT: Forgot all about Fleur Narcotique & I guess Lust in Paradise. But I don’t see this house sticking around if something doesn’t change.
I absolutely STAN Tiziana Terenzi as a house.... but im not mad at all about what you said. I find myself in the same place with them. I did sample a few of the new releases. I think Borelli, which was beautiful, and Abbrivio which was decent. But i wasnt pressed to buy. And havent been interested in even trying anything else. But i do love and enjoy the ones i already have.

I totally agree with you on all points! I once thought that a small sample would suffice but really wearing full body all day for multiple days in all temperatures are really a way to test out a fragrance. I really dislike those useless dapper vials, I need to spray to get the fragrance to get the experience. As for brands that bore me are Tom Ford, way too overpriced and boring since they’ve been bought out. Also I will never own anything by Marc Jacob’s and all those ridiculous flankers of daisy, all the same boring juice.

But I have to say, sometimes you don't get complemented because no matter how 'unique' you think your fragrance is, you might live somewhere where many noses are adjusted to a diverse palettes of smells and nothing is 'special'. I live in Madagascar, which is sometimes called "fragrance island". Every perfumer or fragrance house sources ingredients here at some point. In my garden alone I have two ylang ylang trees, jasmine flowers, white flowers, artemesia, a frangipani tree, a lemon tree, a eucalyptus tree, and I own more essential oils than you can imagine. We produce a lot of coffee, cloves, and the big one, vanilla. I make my own extract which i think Kayali's Vanilla 28 smells exactly like lol. A family friend sources ambergris for perfumers in the UAE.
This is to say that fragrance is a personal thing. My own personal fragrance habit is not that elaborate. For the longest time I refused to purchase frangrances costing over $50 usd (I chose a chaotic makeup purchasing habit instead). However, I've recently gotten into the niche perfume game and i'm mainly interested in developing my nose, I would like to be able to identify notes and accords. Smelling a fragrance is not the same as smelling one "raw" ingredient, which I am exposed to more. So I recently purchased a lot of samples of fragrances mentioned by yourself and other YTers. Unfortunately, nothing is available to me in person here and shipping is expensive, so I won't risk blind buying. We have a store that sells designer fragrances here, but it costs an arm an a leg (import taxes) and they don't even let you spray on your hand smh.
I see the Virgo came out in opinion #2 LOL. Yea someone looking mad in a bonnet aint gonna get a compliment loool, you'd be afraid they'll bite you if you said something or maybe you're the type to try to use fragrance to cover up poor hygiene. Many reasons lol.
Also completely agree regarding Mind Games. First off when they did come out for them to charge those prices. You're not Guerlain. They use their packaging to cover up the fact that they are overpriced, same with House of Sillage. Alos Creed is boring and severly overpriced
