thanks for the review Mark, have this bike for over a month now and puts a smile everytime I ride on it, I usually listen to music while riding but stopped doing it now with how great the soundtrack is on this bike, glad I pulled the trigger right after its launched. The wait was long and exciting 😂. will definitely sell like hot cake wherever it's available and accessory manufacturers will have a field day. my build is almost complete , it's well over 200kgs now with all of it installed lol, but can't feel it when I ride and I'm a short 5'4" 53kg guy haha, glad an adventure bike like this has come out to accommodate tiny riders like me.

Just a few things to add for anyone wanting some more serious off roading and that come as standard on this bike (but would be extras on most others). Folding in mirrors, folding brake pedal end, folding gear lever end, big wide footrests with removable rubbers, bar mounting for sat nav or whatever. That's a saving of at least three hundred quid if you had to add with aftermarket parts. Switchable abs, on the fly (rear only though). Bigger screen and crash bars coming soon but already available on Ali-Ex*ress. ;-)
Nice review. They have been released for about 4 weeks now here in Australia. I actually got mine on Saturday 4 days ago. I've only ridden it a total of just over 160 kilometers. So far I'm loving it but it's a learning curve coming from a Yamaha FJR 1300 which I still own. Here the engine is rated at 44 HP and 44 NM
Nice review I had a Himalayan 411 73 plate done Scotland it didn't have enough but it was OK, I bought a 650GT after seeing your review and very please with the quality the 450 will do well in sales many Himmy owners are waiting on this. I rode tested the 450 Himalayan too many vibes ended the ride with numb fingers. Lovely review again

Just did the first 1000 km here in Poland. Yep great bike but...... It has short gearing, 125 indicated (120 gps) you are at 7000 rpm with 8500 red line. I have already installed 15T front sprocket, that drops the rpm about 500. The fueling off idle is not great (thx euro whatever it is). Throttle cable adjustment helps, but a good tune is the real solution. The exhaust is actually on the loud side, ok I guess I am old. Skid plate is paper thin. Mix riding computer shows 3.7/100, refueling math shows 4.0/100. Hope this helps someone.
@lucaconte7812 We actually have 2 mt450s, my friend and I. My has 15t, his still 14t, so I have back to back comparison. The 15t, "calms" the bike donw a little bit, the 14t is obviously bit livelier..........15t does drop the rpm around 500 for any given speed, it's not a huge difference. With both setups, the engine pulls well everywhere. For city riding, this bike would be great. It will do 120-130 with 14 or 15, but the motor is up there in rpm. Doing this for 500 or 1000km.........most likely is fine, it just feels bit "wrong" for me. This is no longer a "dirt bike", yet most reviews are mostly in the dirt. I think it's a miss on CFMOTOs part with the 5th and 6th gear. They should have made them taller, in my opinion. There is plenty of power in the engine. It is a good bike, all the features are awesome, quality is 90% Japanese......The Royal Himalayan 451 just dose not do it for me. My Rally 300 required $300 to fix the suspension and let the motor breathe, still not highway machine. Again, hope this helps. Very cool bike, it just spins the motor a lot at highway speeds.

If this had been a review of any Royal Enfield, there would have been loads of comments about the 3000 mile service interval. Haven't seen one mentioning this here! Nice enough bike, but I'd be servicing this almost 4 times a year!

Hi Mark, greetings from north east Victoria, Australia. I'm a big fan of what CF are doing and I've owned 2 of their bikes in the past. I'm not in the market for an allrounder but I thought I'd nip in to our local CF dealer (Buzz's) in Albury, NSW (just over the border - only 20 minutes ride) to take a look and the 450MT looks even better in the flesh and the finish is genuinely fantastic. I might even be temped on 2nd thoughts. I'm 5'6" and managed to get my feet down without too much of a problem. 9450$ ride away in Oz. Great review as usual !

Good review of an excellent alternative to the Japanese alternatives. Unfortunately, as far as I can determine seeing one in the flesh would mean a 160 mile round trip to a dealer. A bit too far for me to consider it in terms of dealer servicing for easier warranty claims etc. Top marks to the owner for letting you borrow it⭐️
Have to say I'm really interested in this bike after watching a bunch of review videos. Hopefully this will wake up other manufacturers to explore this size bike
Great review, Mark. I would seriously consider this over the bigger adventure bikes which are just too heavy for me. One think that seems to blight all of this class is the afterthought end can which sticks out from more than it needs to. The Multistrada is the only one with a neat and tucked in exhaust. Even a minor drop and it’s done plus obstructs luggage. Its biggest draw is spec for the money which looks unbeatable.
Very nice and reasonably priced, the finish looks as good as main stream competitors albeit the service intervals could be longer. I’m sure this will sell well however the CF Moto dealership network is still severely lacking in the UK. I live slightly north of Newcastle, nearest dealer being around 100 miles from me so ownership would be very painful for service and warranty trips 🙄. Good stuff Mark and I believe the first UK in depth review before the usual clowns get there hands on it 🫣
Awesome, would love to see you go back to the 800mt and review the explore edition. I know the bike is mostly the same but the additional tech is very compelling including the blind spot detection.

Hi Mark (guys), thanks for your excellent review. I test rode a 450MT last Monday. Coming close to buying this bike, only thing putting me off is the snatchy all-or-nothing throttle. Low speeds, especially around tight slow corners in town made for liberal feathering of the clutch. Any thoughts on this situation?
There may be some ECU updates to improve this ...have a look on the forums ...I didn't find it too bad I got used to it after a couple of hours...just gently roll throttle on/,off Cheers mark
Handsome bike for sure. Great value, for your money. That screen, would bother me though, with all that scaffolding, that block's your vision. Great to see that it's adjustable, but would be a real pain, when you're on the fly.
I like your consistency of reviews which is very helpful to compare bikes. This bike would put nice pressure on Honda NX500. Honda should change the engine to tastier 270 degree crank engine and reduce the price, while maintaining the reliability and longevity.
The menu has got to be better than the one on my 800MT, I've had it 3 weeks now and still can't figure it out. I like the CFMoto bikes but they just can't seem to get the fuelling right at low revs, saying that my Voge 300 Rally isn't that much better at low revs.
Awesome review, but I'm lost now after watching the NX500 and the Voge DS525 review as well. Which one would be your choise for general road use and ocasional gravel road use Mark ??
So interesting about the fuelling. I went and test rode one of these (was going to buy one) but the one I rode was horrible at low speed. Surging throttle, wandering up and down in rpm when sitting at a constant throttle input etc. joined a fb group and a lot of owners having the same issues
CFMOTO have recently released a software update through their app to address the snatchy throttle. I’ve recently updated mine and can confirm it’s fixed. It’s a great bike✌🏽
@@twowheelin7361 unfortunately doesn’t fix it for everyone, quite a few owners in the groups have done the update and still bad fuelling. I’m so close to buying one but holding off until this is fixed either by CFMoto or a third party
@@twowheelin7361 im waiting to see how that ecu flash by sss motorcycles turn out.. they claim they have fixed it completely and it’s smooth all the way through rev range. If that’s true I’ll get a 450mt and a spare ecu to get flashed by triple s. I’ve had a few bikes with choppy low rpm and I really dislike it. If it cant be fixed I’ll look at getting the transalp 750 instead
I know this isn't a replacement for a dirt bike but do you think it would still be fun to ride it around an enduro style course? Just zipping between trees, around a pond, and through a prairie without jumps or massive obstacles. There are full on enduro bikes like the XR650 and DR650 in this price range but I have tried buzzy air cooled bikes on the road before and I want something more refined.
Great review Mark. It looks a good do it all manageable bike. A tempting upgrade to my Serow? Most reviews I have seen rave about it except they say the suspension is very hard and the tft display font is too small for data such as range etc. many decry Chinese built bikes for their quality but it seems to be good. My concern with Chinese bikes is service and maintenance - several mechanics have told me they won’t touch them because of unavailability of parts. So where can you go for servicing ?

Excellent review again Mark! What's the seat comfort like over a longer period if you know? Currently got the Enfield GT650 and the seat is awful after an hour or so. Looking to change to more ADV style and really like this, but don't want to be in seat purgatory again 😂 Thanks.
Another great review, I really like the look of this bike. My decision has become harder as the new Himalayan was favourite but this bike seems to offer so much more and it's cheaper! The only issue I'm finding is that none of the reasonably local dealers have this bike in stock.
@@AliasMrHackenbacker I would assume that such a huge company as CF Moto would be capable of supplying the numbers in the long run but it does seem there is very limited supply in the UK at the moment. The RE is (apparently) readily available but, when I made the choice, I decided it was going to be worth the wait. It's an awful lot more bike for the money. Regards how many came in. I've heard the first batch released was only six but can't confirm that.
@CosmikDebriis Thank you. There doesn't seem to be an issue with finding a Himalayan. I would agree with you regarding pricing, and the specification of the CFmoto is hard to beat. I'm in no hurry, and in the meantime, I will see how Charlie from Restdayrider gets on with hers
Thanks for the review Mark. It is such a stunning machine! I'm bit concerned about the fuel consumption. It looks like the consumption is bit higher comparitively. It may improve after the first service.
It seems to be a very well thought out bike. If the reliability is good then it looks like it will do well. Service intervals seem quite low but I am not sure what the service intervals are on its competitors.
Simply love your reviews Mark and bought the Zontes 125 U1 based on your review of that , it's been brilliant over the last 3 years . BUT I have a question that others looking in this cc range may also ask - you have also recently reviewed the Voge DS525X and I am a little torn between that and this CF Moto MT450 . Would the extra 50cc of the Voge be better cruising at 70mph on the highway rather than perhaps pushing the revs more on the MT450 ? I would not use either off road so not concerned about that comparison where I expect the 450 would win by design anyway . Your thoughts please on the motorway question. Thanks.

This bike seems great. A more modern update from my GEN 3 KLR, but not much more capable. What i would love it a bike like this with some longer legs that can easily Cruise 80 to 90 mph which is more realistic freeway speeds without feeling like I'm topped out. That's my only concern.
Thanks Mark. Nice review as always. I checked the specs on this and the 2024 Himalayan 450 and they are very close with the exception of the weight and number of cylinders. The Himi is about 30 lbs heavier... very noticeable. I'm going to guess that your riding impressions with the CFMoto's engine and weight, that you prefer the CFMoto. Would that be correct? Gord
I did a bit more research on this bike by others who have put it through some paces. Their impression was that it is excellent on road and some off-road. The suspension setup works very well for advanced riders going fast over challenging terrain. But the setup does not respond nearly as well at slower speeds over the same rough terrain. It seems the rear shock is rather springy at those slower speeds and tends to buck the rider around. Their assessment was that the rear mono-shock was a little too stiff for lighter beginner off-road riders. They indicated that a different softer rear shock setup should resolve that. For heavier riders, the preload adjustment may be enough to resolve that but not for lighter riders. It needs to be a real upgrade with multiple adjustments so that it can still be adjusted for higher speeds as the skill level increases. I thought their evaluation was very useful and insightful. On an American channel [sorry can't recall] he fitted an after market slip on exhaust from Yohsimura to his ss model [cost 500 USD..ouch] and was giggling about how much better it sounded , looked the bomb too.
I got mine about 12 days ago and like you I have short inseam. I want to hae it lowered but i cant find anyone to do it. Even the CFMoto Dealership. So strange! Have you have lowered?
What's it like for turning the ABS off? Is it just one push on the button or do you have to scroll through menu settings? Does it reset if you turn the bike off. I know the KTM 390 drives people mad in this respect, have they got it right here?
I really like the look of these Mark, but my main issue with CFmoto, is the lack of dealers. My nearest one is over 50 miles away. Ok, to some that might not be an issue, but to me it is 😢
That's so weird that some people don't have cfmoto dealers nearby, I quite literally have 3 of them right in my area and If I want to drive an hour+ it expands my options to 7 total cfmoto dealers near me.
Another excellent review Mark. Really like the look of this bike although we are getting spoilt for choice in this category. My only disappointment in most if not all is the quite short service intervals,. Just makes my question about the durability of the engine and components.
Hi Paul once out of warranty...with modern engines tight tolerances and quality oils these engines are absolutely fine for 4/5 k mile intervals... these Asian manufacturers are always cautious Just my thoughts Cheers mark

Ive got the NK which I love, but at 62 years old I'd be tempted with the MT as I like the comfort of this seat over the NK

Hi Mark (guys), thanks for your excellent review. I test rode a 450MT last Monday. Coming close to buying this bike, only thing putting me off is the snatchy all-or-nothing throttle. Low speeds, especially around tight slow corners in town made for liberal feathering of the clutch. Any thoughts on this situation?
There may be some ECU updates to improve this ...have a look on the forums ...I didn't find it too bad I got used to it after a couple of hours...just gently roll throttle on/,off

I think the cable for the ABS(?) is not routed properly it should be under the handlebar just like the rest of the cable

Handsome bike for sure. Great value, for your money. That screen, would bother me though, with all that scaffolding, that block's your vision. Great to see that it's adjustable, but would be a real pain, when you're on the fly.
With a wider dealer network they should sell if proven reliable, another excellent review Mark.

I like your consistency of reviews which is very helpful to compare bikes. This bike would put nice pressure on Honda NX500. Honda should change the engine to tastier 270 degree crank engine and reduce the price, while maintaining the reliability and longevity.

The menu has got to be better than the one on my 800MT, I've had it 3 weeks now and still can't figure it out. I like the CFMoto bikes but they just can't seem to get the fuelling right at low revs, saying that my Voge 300 Rally isn't that much better at low revs.
Awesome review, but I'm lost now after watching the NX500 and the Voge DS525 review as well. Which one would be your choise for general road use and ocasional gravel road use Mark ??

So interesting about the fuelling. I went and test rode one of these (was going to buy one) but the one I rode was horrible at low speed. Surging throttle, wandering up and down in rpm when sitting at a constant throttle input etc. joined a fb group and a lot of owners having the same issues
CFMOTO have recently released a software update through their app to address the snatchy throttle. I’ve recently updated mine and can confirm it’s fixed. It’s a great bike✌🏽
@@twowheelin7361 unfortunately doesn’t fix it for everyone, quite a few owners in the groups have done the update and still bad fuelling. I’m so close to buying one but holding off until this is fixed either by CFMoto or a third party
@@slakk5093 mate the throttle wasn’t a problem before the update. All bikes take a while to get used to. You won’t be disappointed if you buy one.
@@twowheelin7361 im waiting to see how that ecu flash by sss motorcycles turn out.. they claim they have fixed it completely and it’s smooth all the way through rev range. If that’s true I’ll get a 450mt and a spare ecu to get flashed by triple s.
I’ve had a few bikes with choppy low rpm and I really dislike it. If it cant be fixed I’ll look at getting the transalp 750 instead
I know this isn't a replacement for a dirt bike but do you think it would still be fun to ride it around an enduro style course? Just zipping between trees, around a pond, and through a prairie without jumps or massive obstacles. There are full on enduro bikes like the XR650 and DR650 in this price range but I have tried buzzy air cooled bikes on the road before and I want something more refined.
Great review Mark. It looks a good do it all manageable bike. A tempting upgrade to my Serow? Most reviews I have seen rave about it except they say the suspension is very hard and the tft display font is too small for data such as range etc. many decry Chinese built bikes for their quality but it seems to be good. My concern with Chinese bikes is service and maintenance - several mechanics have told me they won’t touch them because of unavailability of parts. So where can you go for servicing ?
Hi Ian there are lots of cfmoto dealers in the UK ....or any general motorcycle mechanic will service it it's quite a simple bike

Hi yes cfmoto.....first for me .... engine is ace ... voge...then Enfield.....but all are great 👍

Excellent review again Mark! What's the seat comfort like over a longer period if you know? Currently got the Enfield GT650 and the seat is awful after an hour or so. Looking to change to more ADV style and really like this, but don't want to be in seat purgatory again 😂

Another great review, I really like the look of this bike. My decision has become harder as the new Himalayan was favourite but this bike seems to offer so much more and it's cheaper! The only issue I'm finding is that none of the reasonably local dealers have this bike in stock.

@@AliasMrHackenbacker I would assume that such a huge company as CF Moto would be capable of supplying the numbers in the long run but it does seem there is very limited supply in the UK at the moment. The RE is (apparently) readily available but, when I made the choice, I decided it was going to be worth the wait. It's an awful lot more bike for the money.
Regards how many came in. I've heard the first batch released was only six but can't confirm that.
@CosmikDebriis Thank you. There doesn't seem to be an issue with finding a Himalayan. I would agree with you regarding pricing, and the specification of the CFmoto is hard to beat. I'm in no hurry, and in the meantime, I will see how Charlie from Restdayrider gets on with hers

Thanks for the review Mark. It is such a stunning machine! I'm bit concerned about the fuel consumption. It looks like the consumption is bit higher comparitively. It may improve after the first service.

It seems to be a very well thought out bike. If the reliability is good then it looks like it will do well. Service intervals seem quite low but I am not sure what the service intervals are on its competitors.

Simply love your reviews Mark and bought the Zontes 125 U1 based on your review of that , it's been brilliant over the last 3 years . BUT I have a question that others looking in this cc range may also ask - you have also recently reviewed the Voge DS525X and I am a little torn between that and this CF Moto MT450 . Would the extra 50cc of the Voge be better cruising at 70mph on the highway rather than perhaps pushing the revs more on the MT450 ? I would not use either off road so not concerned about that comparison where I expect the 450 would win by design anyway . Your thoughts please on the motorway question. Thanks.
@@paulcollings5424 Hi Paul ....no not really any difference at all for 70 mph cruising....the voge is brilliant but the cf,moto even better...it's 270 crank engine is a gem ...and it feels slightly better quality

This bike seems great. A more modern update from my GEN 3 KLR, but not much more capable. What i would love it a bike like this with some longer legs that can easily Cruise 80 to 90 mph which is more realistic freeway speeds without feeling like I'm topped out. That's my only concern.
On the video the frame that raises and lowers the screen looks like it's right in your line of sight. Wasn't it a distraction?

Thanks Mark. Nice review as always. I checked the specs on this and the 2024 Himalayan 450 and they are very close with the exception of the weight and number of cylinders.
The Himi is about 30 lbs heavier... very noticeable.
I'm going to guess that your riding impressions with the CFMoto's engine and weight, that you prefer the CFMoto.

I did a bit more research on this bike by others who have put it through some paces. Their impression was that it is excellent on road and some off-road.
The suspension setup works very well for advanced riders going fast over challenging terrain.
But the setup does not respond nearly as well at slower speeds over the same rough terrain.
It seems the rear shock is rather springy at those slower speeds and tends to buck the rider around.
Their assessment was that the rear mono-shock was a little too stiff for lighter beginner off-road riders.
They indicated that a different softer rear shock setup should resolve that.
For heavier riders, the preload adjustment may be enough to resolve that but not for lighter riders.
It needs to be a real upgrade with multiple adjustments so that it can still be adjusted for higher speeds as the skill level increases.
I thought their evaluation was very useful and insightful.

On an American channel [sorry can't recall] he fitted an after market slip on exhaust from Yohsimura to his ss model [cost 500 USD..ouch] and was giggling about how much better it sounded , looked the bomb too.
I got mine about 12 days ago and like you I have short inseam. I want to hae it lowered but i cant find anyone to do it. Even the CFMoto Dealership. So strange! Have you have lowered?
@@augustbrante8117 it can be lowered using the other hole by the rear suspension lower bolt have you tried this ?
What's it like for turning the ABS off? Is it just one push on the button or do you have to scroll through menu settings? Does it reset if you turn the bike off. I know the KTM 390 drives people mad in this respect, have they got it right here?

I really like the look of these Mark, but my main issue with CFmoto, is the lack of dealers. My nearest one is over 50 miles away. Ok, to some that might not be an issue, but to me it is 😢
That's so weird that some people don't have cfmoto dealers nearby, I quite literally have 3 of them right in my area and If I want to drive an hour+ it expands my options to 7 total cfmoto dealers near me.
Just needs a longer front mud guard and they have nailed it!!
Another excellent review Mark. Really like the look of this bike although we are getting spoilt for choice in this category. My only disappointment in most if not all is the quite short service intervals,. Just makes my question about the durability of the engine and components.
Hi Paul once out of warranty...with modern engines tight tolerances and quality oils these engines are absolutely fine for 4/5 k mile intervals... these Asian manufacturers are always cautious

Am part of TRF, but the two trails I’ve tried to explore locally on my Himalayan were both under ‘voluntary restriction order’ or whatever they’re called, would love to know some fairly easy / accessible tracks around wilts / Dorset
