I am an atheist for many years, but watching your videos I sense something I felt as a child when my grandma took me to church. She told me that was the presence of the Holy Spirit. It's been 10 years now, but this Sunday I'm going to Church. Thank you brother C. or as we in Bosnia say ujače (uncle). P.S. excuse my English 😅
You are another good fruit of Fr. Casey or rather the Holy Spirit working through him. It only proves that God dwells in the soul of this young priest. Fr. Casey is truly guided by God. Praise be to God!
Bro. Raoul, I prayed 3 Hail Marys for you to ask God to give you grace of your complete conversion and the grace of FINAL PERSEVERANCE. We need the grace of final perseverance so that we can be sure of our salvation because St. Jerome said many begin well but few persevere. "But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved." - Matthew 24:13
Pray often or better every day for the grace of perseverance like the grace to persevere in praying the rosary properly or devoutly, that is, with humility, faith, hope, love and perseverance, to go to confession and Mass, to persevere in doing good, to persevere despite the many hardship and trials we may encounter etc. If we persevere in praying the rosary devoutly, our salvation is certain because praying the rosary properly or devoutly will give us the grace of true contrition for all our sins and the grace of our genuine conversion, thus, we are certain of our salvation. You must also ask for the grace of perfect detachment of heart continually. We need to break all our attachments because they impede our spiritual growth and hinder our salvation. We will achieve this gradually by God's grace. Praise God!
I thought that your purpose was clear as well. Christ is the center of our lives, not our causes. You were in my prayers over the weekend. I promise to pray for you at least once a week.
A MILLION DEAD BABIES A YEAR. Good luck answering to God for that when you explain you just wanted everyone to run around the Maypole and play patticakes.
"Over the past decade I have grown more and more disappointed in the so called pro-life movement that seems to care about only one issue of life and is so readily align themselves with the economic and social issues of the Rupublican party, I see Catholic so enflamed with passion for this issues that they not only willing to collaborate repugnant politicians and fundamentalist Christian theology, they are willing to cheer them on, even look for ways to support them... willing to uncritically support justices that also allow affronts the human family in other ways [no examples given] that are more in line with conservative economics than life issues, in this issue as well, their actions betray them" - Breaking the habit
The timing of the video is so convenient given the growing criticism of Joe Biden's pro abortion position. I get he is a democrat and overlooks the issue as not so important but he shouldn't be demonizing Republicans as unchristian.
@@debaterofeverythingpresent2775 Exactly, you can't be Christian and support abortion. Joe Biden and every Catholic who voted for him should be excommunicated.
Pro-life should not end at the issue of abortion. Support for children who are suffering from poverty, in orphanage, and in abusive households should be at the upmost importance as well. Children who have been born must be given the same attention and care as those who are unborn. It’s frustrating that people seem to forget that societal issues are not black and white. So many factors come into play. To be pro life is to protect life at all times, from conception to natural death.
Obviously, but abortion is the primary act that takes more lives than anything else. Comparing abortion to poverty or suffering in an abusive situation is a fallacy. While poverty and other sufferings are horrible, abortion destroys the lives of the innocent. It would be like saying the Holocaust was the same evil as the situation of those who are impoverished. Many pro-choice individuals use your argument to justify abortion.
@@laurenlee961 they aren't really Catholic/Christian if they do not save those who are alive and in need first, not those without even a notion of humanity nor soul.
@@robc8892 are you serious ? The fact that in the United States almost 10 percent of people do not have health insurance and are living below the poverty line. 4.5 % of all deaths in the US come from poverty. And this is in a country with the highest GDP in the world. Im not defending abortion by any means but to be pro life doesn’t stop there.
Bravo, Father! You handled that masterfully. As a priest for 31 years I have been impressed by the gift God has given you and your excellent use of it. I have used a few of your videos with my teen club. When I watched the first version of this video, I will admit I was uneasy. I knew what you were saying, but I felt your point didn't come through in the way you intended, and I was afraid you were going to get backlash. Boy did you!!! We all learn from our mistakes, but we have to be allowed to be human and make mistakes once in a while. I am appalled that people who call themselves Christians would treat you that way. I get the same thing on my blog from some people who disagree with me, so I say to you "welcome to the club!" But remember as well: "Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven will be great!" (Matt. 5:11-13)
As a non -catholic - but as a Christian, I am appalled at the responses you received because of your video! I am so sorry that you have had to put up with people who are somehow not "getting it". Pray for them, and for you Father Casey. You are my hero - You've done a great service to humanity. Congrats! God bless
I’ve had personal life experiences driven me to be intensely pro life, and even I understand what you meant. Abortion is a terrible thing to do, and it is a sinful action to ever advocate, but it is not worth selling our souls to the devil for. May God bless you, father Casey, For reminding me of that.
While you let that Happen know that you are allowing 200,000 children (Same no as the People killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki) to be killed Daily within their mothers womb. 6 million EVERY SINGLE MONTH (that's the amount of Jews killed in Holocaust). And 73 Million EVERY SINGLE YEAR. SO WANNA KNOW SOMETHING CASEY! IT'S A PRETTY HUGE DEAL! (oh yeah Btw 73 million is greater than the combined death toll of 1st and 2nd world wars, two of the most destructive world wars fought on the face of the planet! THE TWO WORLD WARS TOOK 10 YEARS TO KILL THE SAME THAT ABORTION KILLS IN A SINGLE YEAR).
Athiest here: Love your videos. I think you're a great guy with good intentions. And even though I may not agree with you about everything. I respect the crap out of you. Thanks for the interesting and educational videos. They are important to understand and humanize the people around you.
Comments like these are what made me realise not all the atheists are like the fanatical, negative nasty ones (of which I saw fair few on youtube, Yahoo Answers and websites about that awful boardgame Diplomacy). That and Jonathan Haidt videos.
Same! Like I'm pro-choice, except for late-term, but he describes his side so.... Civilized. It's nice. No yelling or anger. I really wish many Christians were more chill like this guy.

Fr. Casey, you're ministry is a huge part of why I'm reverting to the Catholic Church. I'm genuinely grateful to you, may God bless you. Don't listen to the haters.
Amen. You are just one of the many good fruits that Fr. Casey has produced or rather the Holy Spirit (working through him). Jesus said we will know who are His TRUE disciples or NOT by their fruit. "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit; a bad tree cannot bear good fruit." - Matthew 7:18 "So you will know them by their fruit." - Matthew 7:20
I am not sure if that is contradictory. If you are against abortion it’s because you see it as bad and a sin that would send you to hell; therefore, there is a part of you that realizes that someone can go to hell if they take certain action. And if you have a hope to go to heaven could that mean that there is a hope that sin gets punished with hell and therefore if you are a proliferation you have to hope that some people will go to hell?
Awesomelipe do you honestly believe that an omnipotent loving god would condemn people to an eternal (or even temporary but very very painful) torture? Like...really? Explain pls.
Who hopes people go to hell? This is just shadow boxing, people coming up with a fault or impugning a false motive in others to make themselves feel better about themselves.
@@awesomelipe8396 Actually when you think about it the main reason for some religious people and Catholics to be pro life other than life being sacred hence you shouldn’t destroy it (Thou Shalt Not Kill) is the belief that you cannot know God if you haven’t been baptised and if you do not know God how can you achieve Heaven. So for Catholics the 5th commandment and having the chance to be baptised are the two main theological and moral reasons. Every person should have the chance to know God
Don’t back off. you were right to begin with. It was clear to me, it was clear to your haters. They just gonna hate. Keep on doing what you’re doing. Your’re bright, charismatic, good man of God. I’ll keep you in my prayers.

@Gangari TheWanderer agreed! But being charitable and having hope that they will repent is necessary. From what Fr was saying, it doesn’t sound like people were being charitable. Also he wasn’t supporting abortion!
I think that what you say, Ann, is so powerful, that it deserves no answer starting with "True, but..." And if you start answering "True, but...": Can't you just once in your life stop trying to have the last word, and just support such an essential thought?
When Jesus spread the truth he was also ostracized for it. These attacks are further proof that you are on the right path. I am not a Christian but it's amazing to see you be strong in your faith.
As an atheist, I find you to be one of the few Christians that I’ve seen that are true and genuine in their faith, and I can respect your views on abortion as a result. Most are quick to judge and condemn and hate as has been seen here, but you... you get it. It gives me some hope that religion can still do good.
Glad you are here. True followers of Christ and His teachings, would NEVER hate anything but the sinful actions of misguided or ignorant people. All the Catholics on this site are praying for you, I’m sure.

Kindness is not a replacement for love, not even close. In fact, love sometimes require people not to be kind, for example when a parent needs to scold his child, he might come off as unkind, but in the long run those lessons will make his son/daughter a better person closer to God.

@Be Skeptical Of Everything You completely misunderstand the meaning of the quote. Read 1 John 4:19-21. You do not love God, whom you cannot see, if you refuse to obey His command to love your brother who you HAVE seen. The point being, anyone who CLAIMS to love God but does not show it in the way he or she treats other people is deluding his or herself and is, in point of fact, a liar.
@Be Skeptical Of Everything No, all Salvation is given by the Grace of God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. But genuine Faith in God ALWAYS demonstrates itself *through* works "you will know them by their fruits." If someone has the Holy Spirit, he or she will demonstrate the Fruit of the Spirit in the way they live their lives. If they have a conflict with someone, they will at least attempt to reconcile differences. If you claim to Love God but hate your neighbor, you are a liar. Period. The Bible flat out says so in clear, precise language.
Two millenia ago, Christ brought a simple and straightforward message to the world that the vast majority of people did not understand or listen to. Can you imagine what his twitter feed would be like if He had done the same now? You are a true disciple, Fr Casey, and we are blessed to have you show the courage to speak top us the Truth of what our Faith involves. Thank you and God Bless.
Fr. Casey, I want to apologize on behalf of my fellow anti-abortion activists. You were absolutely right in your first video, and I for one truly appreciated the reminder that anything that causes us to sin is to be cut out of our lives if we can't control it. Please know, there are those of us who actively speak out against abortion that took the time to watch your whole statement and value what you said.
I left the church and spend several years as an atheist because of the amount of hate that I felt from so many people similar to the ones you lament about in this video. I was was brought back to God by a wonderful woman who expressed her feelings for God through kindness and love for me. That left a lasting impression on me and taught me that the only way the church can bring people into communion with God is through love and kindness. You remind me a lot of that woman who had such a profound affect on me.
There have always been factions in the Church with some horrific stories recorded in church history among ourselves (we are human after all). But, I agree, the ability to spew hate so easily via media is saddening. I try to stay away from such church ugliness in person and online (but I am human, too). Peace and good be yours from the God of love who created and gifted the world to us.
Jesus Christ said “love one another as I have loved you”. May we all accept to be follower of Jesus, and not just a fan of Jesus. I support this Priest’s message.
"If you judge people, you have no time to love them." -Mother Teresa God calls us to love one another. We are not merely put on this earth to see through one another, but to see one another through.
"this was not some outside attack from the enemies of Christianity, /at least not how we usually think of them/" That might be the most cutting thing I've ever heard a man of the cloth say, yet it's perhaps one of the most true
As Christians we should not forget that the enemy, (the devil) can use even a good course like being pro - life to destroy us and pull us away from the path of righteousness. Let's remain focused and not lose our souls. Let's hate the sin and not the sinner as Fr Casey is saying. Let's act like Christians.
A disaster? I’m not sure what to think. Your video made be re-evaluate my life, and how I’ve separated myself with God. I didn’t think anything would ever do that.. anything! It’s quite possibly the most important message I’ve ever received, and it’s hard to understand how some people have seen it so negatively. How could something like that be a disaster? I separated myself from the Church many years ago because of thoughts and behaviors like that, and I guess in a way it made be understand why I left. God bless your Fr. Casey.
Father- my husband and I totally understood what you were trying to say. You explained it so well and cleared up anxiety that we had over the last few months of our political chaos. You are in our daily prayers and will continue to watch your wonderful RUclipss. 🙏
Fr. Casey, many things are absent from society at this time: dialogue, respect, reason and wisdom are among them. You attempt to open a pathway to dialogue, showing respect, by using reason and wisdom. It has often been pointed out that we can be comfortable in our views, and are opposed to being challenged to consider when we are wrong. To paraphrase Chesterton: We do not need a religion which agrees with us when we are wrong; We need a religion to set us right when we are wrong. What you spoke of reached many that exhibit a hardened heart. This was a step on the path they are on, and may lead to them eventually adopting a repentant heart. It also reached those that were more open to, or needed to hear it. It also caused a few to stop and think (including after posting an unkind response), and...among other things, you learned how narrow in sight and mind humanity can be at times. This will have an effect on how your future videos are named to some degree. The video in question would be a failure if no one viewed it. For myself, early on I learned the titles you use can be provocative at face value, but can be considered tongue-in-cheek compared with what you actually say in the videos. God love you sir.
Your good job can't be cancelled out by someone's inability to hold the Gospel up to their lives like a mirror. Keep speaking Truth; we need to hear it.
Father, I spent virtually the entire weekend defending your initial video! Certain viewers just DID NOT get your message. Our country has become so polarized over political identity. Yet we Christians have the Gospel to unify us! In many cases, my politics and my faith are aligned; but when they are at odds with one another, faith ALWAYS trumps politics (pardon the pun). Politics is for this life alone; our faith touches our eternity. And we will be judged accordingly. Hopefully, this follow-up video will shed light on those who responded with hatred to the first one. Your brother in Christ, Deacon Paul
The biggest problem with Christians is we have forgotten that Jesus focus was on loving your neighbor. I am not catholic but I honestly believe I learn something new about the Bible through most of your videos. you have help open my heart and eyes to loving people no matter what they believe or what sins they are part of. Thank you for being open and being a true Christian.
I do believe that the world needs more christians like you, and christians who speak out this important messages and truly act like Jesus. I am so terribly sorry that you had to face this hate. Because of this kind of behaviour, I often avoid saying that I am a christian. I am so sorry that you have to justify yourself again! I pray for fundamentalism to stop. I am truly SCARED of this behaviour inside christianity... and more often than not, ashamed of parts of this community :((

The humility of this man. 🙌🏻👍🏻 Kudos to you, and my heart aches for you, but often such attacks come when a priest or pastor touches on a subject that had to be addressed. Protestant Preacher to Franciscan Friar, I’m learning a lot from watching you handle this difficult situation. Thank you!
We love you, Father, and you are in our prayers!!!! I got your first video and stand with you on this one as well, WE are called to BE coherent! Blessings!!!!
Pro-life means you care for all people. A fetus, a child, a teenager, an adult, an elderly person. Mothers, fathers, leaders, sinners, saints. I’m sorry you had to face so much controversy Fr. Casey. I think you handled this very maturely. 👍
Father, we can all learn something from this moment. I learned how skeptical, quick to judge and defensive we are as a people. Where does this stem from? Fear. What combats this? Patience, meekness, and an open ear to the truth. Who preached these things? Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May we all continue following him towards conversations that lead towards effectivity. Romans 14: 10-13: "Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God; for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall give praise to God.” So each of us shall give account of himself to God. Then let us no more pass judgment on one another, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother."
The only way to change peoples thinking and in turn their hearts is to love them first. Then to educate them, not to hate them or yell at them. We must love them first because God loves us first and none of us is perfect. We all make mistakes and we all sin! I really hope we can grow out of this culture of othering people! This culture of anger and hate is leading us more and more away from God!God is not anger God is not hate! God is beautiful, light, hope, and above all God is love. Thank you father Casey for all you do! You bring people closer To God.You’ve done that for me for many years thank you!
Thank You for this. I am an atheist, but your other reaction videos, particularly your Dogma video, made me see that faith is actually about helping people see each other as more than an obstacle to our desires.
"The enemy" that we as Christians are desperately searching "infiltrating our beloved Church" is as close as de evil in our own eyes; the harshness of our own hearts...
Father Casey, my dear brother in Christ! I actually thought that your first video was a prophetic word for many Christians and so called 'Christians'. To those who attacked you and call themselves followers of Christ I say REPENT! For they have spoken against a godly priest and will be judged. Had people listened to the video, and heard what you said they would have seen you were speaking God's truth. I related completely to your first video, in my early days as a priest I was part of a group Christians who opposed abortion, however their tactics and attitudes towards women who sought abortion became deeply hateful and frightening! Their hatred twisted them to become deeply sinful and they truly looked totally unChristian. I left that group quietly but they turned on me savagely and attacked me too! Please Father, keep up your online ministry, you are a blessing to many and even reach many non-Catholics (like me). I usually pray for you but I'll uphold you even more now and I hope the Lord uses this firey trial and persecution for His sake to further refine and strengthen you as His servant. Hi Father. I am very sorry to hear about your experience with people threatening and insulting you. I want to say that I agree with you 100% with everything you said in the initial video. I also want to say that I am thankful for you for having said yes to God's call for you to be a Franciscan and a priest. I myself am currently a seminarian, and I am discerning a vocation to the Dominicans, so I especially appreciate the point to which you have come so far. I can only pray that the Lord leads me in such a direction with the grace that you have shown. If you would, please pray for me in my discernment. I also wish I could have sent you this message privately since I hope for you to see it and that would be a place where I could be more vulnerable. I don't see an option for that though, so this will have to do! Please say a quick prayer for me that the rest of my words are "in a becoming manner, not with impudence and harshness, but with gentleness and respect", as St. Thomas Aquinas teaches us. I want to begin by affirming a few things that you brought up. The first is that people did precisely what you spoke against in the video you released on Thursday. You're absolutely right that they did, and that is not excusable. You said it best that even if you had endorsed abortion, the responses you received were not becoming of a Christian. However, I do understand where this impetus for anger came from. I stopped watching your channel a little more than a year ago for a few reasons, the main one being that the clickbait titles would cause an unbidden emotional response that I didn't want in my life. When I saw this one pop up in my youtube recommendations, the immediate response I had was anger. I did not want that response, but alas I am a sinner and have some temporal effects that I need to work through. Because I know that you use these types of titles to provoke a response, I clicked on the video to see the good thing you had to say as an exercise of getting rid of the anger that arose automatically, and I am glad I did because I know good people who are trying to be the best Catholics they can be who had a similar reaction to those you are addressing in this video. I had the opportunity to tell them that what you had to say in the video was important. Nevertheless, the title and thumbnail left a first impression, and the first impression is a lasting impression. You said, "I can't control people making stupid assumptions without even watching the video." Later you talked about how clickbait titles are just how RUclips works. I would agree that clickbait does generate attention, and the purpose of it is to create an emotional response that engenders intrigue. You have a great deal of control over what kind of response a title or thumbnail may elicit. Looking in my recommended section right now, I see several great video titles from you: "5 Must-See Catholic Movies," "STOP Saying these 5 Christian Cliches!," "What's the Difference Between Friars, Monks, and Jedi," and "10 Hilarious Catholic Jokes". I could gladly click on any one of these videos and yet their titles are still click-baity. More importantly, they do not provoke a response from people on what is currently a *very* heated topic. This brings me to where I think you could take more responsibility for your actions. You did apologize towards the end "if" you caused someone to be provoked to anger. When I look back on myself, there are so many situations where I did provoke someone to anger because of what I said or how I said something even with the best of intentions. I remember the pain and heartache and how I misrepresented Christ to people such that they are further from Him than they were had I not been a fool. We are the sheep. The sheep are dumb and they stink. The shepherd needs to know this, so when he speaks, be it in the video, the thumbnail, or the title of the video, his voice needs to be His voice so that His sheep follow his voice. That didn't happen here. When I look at other Catholic RUclipsrs who have garnered great success, such as Ascension Presents and Pints With Aquinas, they do not rely on clickbait as much as giving a title that is descriptive of the contents of the video. I think truth is found in leaning towards the latter than the former without abandoning the former. My hope is that moving forward your titles will be more like the new one you gave to the video from Thursday. I hope that you will take all of these words as coming from a true place of charity, as it is my prayer that the Lord uses me as a vessel as such, not by my will but by His. I am clouded by the "double darkness of sin and ignorance," but He is all-knowing and all-loving. I hope you in turn read this with the same charity that you preach of knowing that I do not say any of this desiring that you go to Hell, but rather looking forward to the possibility of embracing in Heaven...provided that social distancing has been lifted by then. ;) May God bless you and your ministry Father Casey such that you may be a pure vessel that shines forth the Lord's glory upon the world.
Hi Sir, Fr Casey is just perfect the way he is (with that provocative part of him). I think God has created Priests with different type of personnalities and messages to commnunicate,. It would be dull if they were all the same. May you find what kind of Priest or Servant God has called you to become and what kind of message he has called you to deliver.May God bless you.
I will say, when I first saw the title, I was jaded, thinking "how can abortion not be that important, it is one of THE most important issues of our time" and almost didn't click on the video. I'm glad I did though, because that thought process was exactly what you were talking about in the video, making everything about God and not just the issues, which has become all too common in our time. Your words, Father, helped me to realize just how unforgiving I have been and I hope, with God's help, that I can be more loving and forgiving in the future. I pray that your words reach these people that didn't actually watch the video as they reached me, and move them as I have been moved.
In the words of one of my favorite artists. “Let mercy lead, let love be the strength in your legs, and with every footprint that you leave there’ll be a drop of grace”.
I see this on Facebook all the time....people will post articles...then others will summarize/critique/attack/etc. the entire article solely on the headline itself. People need to actually read, or in your case--watch, the entire article (video) before commenting. I have enjoyed and gotten much out of all your videos. Keep up the good work!
I think it doesn't matter how you would approach this subject, it is so emotionally and politically charged, you will get threats and insults one way or another. I am a big fan of your content, you are doing some great work Father Casey! Thank you for your courage!
At this moment, 3.9% dislike this video... We must work really hard sharing this message of what Christianity is about. Still 3.9% of viewers don't understand something so essential to Christianity, or actually, don't understand Christianity at all! Thank you Father and peace and love to all.
Unfortunately, RUclips / social media and being anonymous gives people the feeling of superiority. I feel bad that there are people out there that responded to you in such an awful way! I doubt these people would talk that way when in the house of God. I love your messages, and the more popular you get, the more hate that will come your way. You know you are loved, and you know you are on the right path. All anyone can do is pray that others will take a moment to think outside of their own minds. You have caused me to do this, and caused me to rethink many things I thought were right. You caused me to research more, and help see through the gray scale of the world. Thank you!
This kinda proves ur side - no one wants to listen when it comes to their own values - even if Jesus were to say himself people still won’t listen unless it fits their world view - it’s just sad - but ur video was correct for anyone who actually watched it and understood it...
This is exactly the point made in the parable of Lazarus the beggar and the rich man- people can quote from the Bible with chapter and verses, people can name all the prophets, and kings and judges, yet if people do not LISTEN to and UNDERSTAND the point of the events in those stories and what God is trying to tell us through them, then we are dooming ourselves. And- as Jesus tells us- when we ask why we aren't allowed in to Heaven, we will be told because we failed to love Jesus by failing to love those he inhabits (who is literally everyone).
@@Rsobregon52 Very glad to hear! I hope more people learn to take the lessons of the parables to heart, I think the world would be a better place if we did.
This is Great, Kudos to Fr. Casey for being so bold with a truth that many really need to hear the most. As Christians, we are so devoted to the idea of fighting for a good cause, but it is truly important to know that there are limits to how much we should do before we harm our souls. You are absolutely right Father!!
As someone outside of the Christian community, and a person who doesn’t necessarily agree with everything posited on this channel, thank you for sharing your message in a constructive way from a place of love and guidance. I have often felt threatened by how I’ve experienced judgement and hate from religious people, but your calm and measured teaching creates a space that feels safe for me to learn and grow to understand a perspective that I do not share. I’m sorry for the negative response the video generated and that it revealed a dark side to some people in your community. You’ve handled the situation with grace and humility and I’m in awe of your unwavering resolve. I don’t know if my respect is worth all that much to you, but you absolutely have it. Take care, Fr Casey!!
Oddly, your last line was very much center of a discussion I had on Sunday. Priests (and rabbis, imams and other leaders) can have a very lonely and depressing life, always hearing of problems, always seeing that their preaching and ministry very often goes unheeded. Your message of respect is one of the great antidotes for that potential depression. Your respect is worth a very great deal.
Fr. Casey- As you know, I am not a Roman Catholic. God in all of His infinite wisdom led me to The Episcopal Church. As a deeply committed Christian, I am truly saddened by the comments I saw posted on your previous video. In my opinion, those comments were not the “fruit” that Jesus would have expected of people who believe in his example, his words and his ministry. Your vocation is a heavy one - teaching discipleship! We know that Jesus had his disciples with him non-stop for three years and at the end of those three years they were still infants in their development as Christian disciples. Trying to make disciples through a series of brief (wonderful) videos is an arduous task. We live in a time where people expect to get their news and information in under a minute, and after that minute, many believe they are now experts on a particular topic. Your chosen task is to make disciples from people like that. I have studied theology for over 40 years now. I learned Greek and Hebrew. I studied the Scriptures in both languages. I have been taught by theologians (Jewish, Protestant and Catholic). I was taught biomedical ethics during my time at The Catholic University of America. Now some 40 years later, I believe that I have only scraped the tip of the iceberg in becoming a true disciple of Christ. Experiencing the death of my own teenage son some ten years ago, my understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Christ and to believe in loving and caring God has changed dramatically. Jesus never promised us that the life he called us to would be easy. This is one of those moments for you, perhaps. You took on an extremely difficult topic (abortion) and you used it to talk to us about discipleship and our life in Christ! That is extraordinary! You are extraordinary! I know you are not looking for accolades or applause, but you have my admiration and my deepest respect as a Christian and as an “Anglican Observer.” Do not lose hope. Do not worry about those that cannot hear you over the noise of their own egos, anger and pride. God often speaks to us in stillness. God speaks to me from the mouth of a quiet, poor and lowly Franciscan father. That is extraordinary! You are extraordinary! Peace be with you my brother! Your friend in Christ, Tim!
Dear Friend in Christ, Tim You have a beautiful heart. May many find a lesson in your message. Also please know I shall pray for your son and for you today. Your hope brings me hope too! Wishing you peace and comfort, Tiju Thomas (Likely half a world away from you - India. May we all be one!)

Thank you for verbalizing my feelings. These past few years I have felt a great number of losses. I don’t Feel like Americans are my people , I don’t feel like Christians are my people and I don’t feel like Catholics are my people. I feel ashamed. Nothing shakes my faith in Catholicism but I DO feel alone in my faith. I became a catholic after 3 years in a Catholic school. My folks put me in it at the age of 7 because I stopped talking when they divorced( this was late 1950 ‘s. ). I fell in love with the Mass and never missed a day going for 3 years. My family was not Catholic. When I asked my mom if I could become Catholic, she said yes and gave me an alarm clock as a baptism gift saying “you’ll need to get up for Sunday Mass”. It was a gift of acceptance and kindness. The next 15 years, I spent trying to figure out how my families behavior “ fit” with my faith. We had multiple divorces and 2 babies born with both of my sisters still in high school. It WAS hard on me with the negativity from fellow Catholics. BUT, coming to the realization of the CONCEPT of your video on abortion helped me greatly. I could have used it 40 years ago. Carry on young man, with confidence and joy. I don’t feel alone anymore.
What amazes me is that “following Jesus” means fight and kill for some people, who could think Jesus would do that? In my understanding following Jesus means to imitate him, to do as he would do.
I was one of those people who didn’t really make it past the first minute, thank goodness for the comments that explained the real message of the video. I wasn’t upset or angry when I clicked on the video, but curious and scared. I’m sorry that you’ve gotten so much hate. I completely agree with you. I’ve always tried to be loving and understanding of others no matter how hard it can be sometimes. I’ll pray for strength for myself and I’ll pray for those who attacked you.
@@fatesrequiem no I didn’t, I feel as if he made himself clear enough for me. And if anything I can’t change what he says in his video, I can only hope for the best and pray.

"Discipleship" means to be a learner, a person who is a pupil or adherent to the doctrines of another,(Jesus) one who embraces and assists in spreading the teaching of another.(Jesus) Fr. Casey you spoke the Truth, in both videos. God Bless You Always. St. Joseph, pray for us.
Really? I thought discipleship might be something like "Dont sit idley by while a million babies a year are murdered in the womb." That's Vatican 2 for ya I guess.
@@brandonrichardson1398 Who is sitting idly by? Is prayer idle? Is donating to people who minister to the women who visit abortion clinics so they can continue to minister being idle? Not all people are called to stand and protest in front of abortion clinics. None are called to harm or destroy the people associated with them. We are called to love and obey the Lord and the authority above us and to pray for all people. With much love I remind you of these things. God bless and keep you!
@@brandonrichardson1398 I have never met a pro-choice person who thinks abortion is a good and noble thing to do. @@farrellmartha8207 then you haven't met many millenials. Go look at "shout your abortion". We want strength, honor, courage and the TRUE love and guidance of our spiritual Fathers. Do you fight sexism? Do you do anything? Or do you just sit behind a keyboard judging anything you dont like, while doing nothing to change it?
Not “we”. Dedicated Christians operate in love. Weaponizing God is the height of false righteousness and narcissism. Unfortunately, there are a multitude of individuals as well as misguided church ministers who are led by anger and hate. Think Westboro Baptist Church for example. So many folks are being misled by false teachings but... each of us knows that God is Love and that we have the individual right of free will. God gave us free will to turn away from any thoughts of hate or turn away from anyone that preaches hate. Folks are capable of turning toward God with love. Folks are capable of turning away from God with hate. I am appalled by Social media hate. My heart hurts when hate is used in harming others or their property. These are such obvious ways to place oneself above God, above love.
I am an atheist for many years, but watching your videos I sense something I felt as a child when my grandma took me to church. She told me that was the presence of the Holy Spirit. It's been 10 years now, but this Sunday I'm going to Church.

Praise God!

@@thepopeyesapologist6636 Maybe just Joe Biden because he is actively pushing for abortion.

“You can’t be pro life and hope people to go to hell”. So important!

@@awesomelipe8396 Actually when you think about it the main reason for some religious people and Catholics to be pro life other than life being sacred hence you shouldn’t destroy it (Thou Shalt Not Kill) is the belief that you cannot know God if you haven’t been baptised and if you do not know God how can you achieve Heaven. @Be Skeptical Of Everything - you don't get it.
A perfect summation of 1 John 4:19-21
@Be Skeptical Of Everything You completely misunderstand the meaning of the quote. Read 1 John 4:19-21.
You do not love God, whom you cannot see, if you refuse to obey His command to love your brother who you HAVE seen. The point being, anyone who CLAIMS to love God but does not show it in the way he or she treats other people is deluding his or herself and is, in point of fact, a liar.
@Be Skeptical Of Everything No, all Salvation is given by the Grace of God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. But genuine Faith in God ALWAYS demonstrates itself *through* works "you will know them by their fruits."
If someone has the Holy Spirit, he or she will demonstrate the Fruit of the Spirit in the way they live their lives. If they have a conflict with someone, they will at least attempt to reconcile differences.
If you claim to Love God but hate your neighbor, you are a liar. Period. The Bible flat out says so in clear, precise language.
Brother, you're a much needed disciple of love needed today.
Two millenials ago, Christ never said "This is not my Body" and later on explained to his followers " No! that was not what I meant!"
Father Casey, I got it the first time, but I respect your coming back on here and explaining it, again. That takes a lot of integrity and courage.
Judgement is easy. Remaining silent and not judging someone is hard in our society. That is why I do my best to not judge. Christ is the judge.
Yes! Well said!
He's also the judge of what is true discipleship, which is why the original video is mainly at fault.
If all Christians start understanding love and discipleship the way you talk about it in this video, the world will genuinely be a better place... 🙏🏻

God love you sir.
beautifully said!
Very well said, except the Chesterton quote should say "We don't need a religion that agrees with us when we are right..."

Your good job can't be cancelled out by someone's inability to hold the Gospel up to their lives like a mirror. Keep speaking Truth; we need to hear it.
This is a great way to phrase it!
Father,
I spent virtually the entire weekend defending your initial video!

Thank You for this. I am an atheist, but your other reaction videos, particularly your Dogma video, made me see that faith is actually about helping people see each other as more than an obstacle to our desires.

I hope you in turn read this with the same charity that you preach of knowing that I do not say any of this desiring that you go to Hell, but rather looking forward to the possibility of embracing in Heaven...provided that social distancing has been lifted by then. ;)
May God bless you and your ministry Father Casey such that you may be a pure vessel that shines forth the Lord's glory upon the world.

Beautiful comments brother in Christ .... I was sorry to read about your own loss! Peter
@@prevco58 Thank you, Peter! Very kind of you to reach out.
Dear Friend in Christ, Tim
You have a beautiful heart. May many find a lesson in your message.
Also please know I shall pray for your son and for you today. Your hope brings me hope too!
Wishing you peace and comfort,
Tiju Thomas
(Likely half a world away from you - India. May we all be one!)
As if in discipleship, fight against abortion is not one of them. Right on, Fr Casey, you're leading the way!
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
Romans 12:2 ESV
Thank you for verbalizing my feelings. These past few years I have felt a great number of losses. I don’t
Feel like Americans are my people , I don’t
feel like Christians are my people and I don’t feel like Catholics are my people.
Don't stop being you - you bring faith to the lost better than so many - keep doing you!
Oh Brother Casey, I'm so sorry for the attacks you received.
Jesus was misunderstood too.
😔
You are one of the best catholic canals I discovered on RUclips so far! Thank you for your imput in my life 💕
What amazes me is that “following Jesus” means fight and kill for some people, who could think Jesus would do that? In my understanding following Jesus means to imitate him, to do as he would do.
I seem to recall bracelets in my youth everyone wearing saying just that. 👍🏻
Out of curiosity, did you happen to go back and watch the rest of the video?
go back he was wrong
@@fatesrequiem no I didn’t, I feel as if he made himself clear enough for me. And if anything I can’t change what he says in his video, I can only hope for the best and pray.
Im a dominican from Angola. Be strong and continuo helpping us with your reflectios. Thanks, Brother!
Just here to say I will always love you Fr Casey😂😂😂
Me too Fr Casey every word you said on both videos leads me to want to hear more from you and to confirm my love for you as a pastor, teacher and friend
In the name of the unborn, you can’t forget about them when they are actually born and leave the womb.
And I'm pretty sure most women don't hope that they will be able to participate in the abortion process. Perhaps if we acted as disciples of Christ rather than as stone throwers, desperate mothers would be able to hear the voice of God rather than all of the cultural and political cacophany.
@@farrellmartha8207 then you haven't met many millenials. Go look at "shout your abortion". And the reason why is because of the failure of the clergy of the Church to hold any discernable, meaningful, tangible line. I am a millenial who was fed lies by people like this "priest" for decades and myself and many others are fed up. We don't need or want dialogue. We want strength, honor, courage and the TRUE love and guidance of our spiritual Fathers. But no matter how much we beg and plead and prostrate ourselves before them, THE CLERGY REPEATEDLY FAIL US WITH THEIR LEADERSHIP AND EXAMPLE. This is truly a sad, sad state and I pray it is remedied soon.
@@brandonrichardson1398 what have you personally done to make a world where abortion is an afterthought? Do you feed the poor? Protect battered women? Do more than tithe or stand on a corner with a sign to make this world truly equitable for all, to the point where no person would ever even feel the need to do such a thing? Do you fight racism? Do you fight sexism? Do you do anything?
Or do you just sit behind a keyboard judging anything you dont like, while doing nothing to change it?
I always hated the trope: to defeat your enemy, you must become like them.
You defeat darkness with light, not more darkness
We need to stop using 'God' as our "right" or weapon to hurt people.
People hurt themself with their choices.
Sandra Real We? need to stop speak for yourself.
You are in my prayers. My parish had a similar experience when we stood up to anti racist behavior.
