I'm so proud of how far she's come. Just a few years ago she couldn't talk about the show without bursting into tears. It's clear that she's been working through her trauma. It's amazing how self-aware, humble, and down to earth she is, especially considering the environment she grew up in. I love that we continue to have the opportunity to watch her grow, with the added bonus of seeing her get to be her authentic self now. 🩷
I'm super late to this but I just found this interview so cool to see and so inspiring. I'm the same age as Maddie and I completely identified with her as a kid, cause I was (am lol) an overemotional perfectionist who cried whenever I "failed" at anything, and now seeing her again when we're both 20, and such different people than when we were kids, it's so inspiring to see how much she's changed, but also how she's recognized the core parts of herself she needs to accept but also manage differently. And mostly I loved seeing that she, like me, is constantly focusing on self-analysis and self-improvement! I've been that way as long as I can remember: I'm obsessed with looking at things that are either wrong or that could just be better about myself and trying different strategies to change them and I love that Maddie seems to do the same!
Its so interesting how the girls never explicitly name the show or abby.... they always just refer to it as "my dance teacher" or "the show i was on as a kid".
Legal reasons. Abby is severly litigious and by saying "my dance teacher" they have plausible deniablity because even though we all know that they're talking about Abby, if questioned, Maddie can be like "well I said dance teacher not director." As the girls had multiple actual choreographers such as Gia, Paul etc.
I’ve noticed this too. It’s probably for legal reasons. I’ve heard Christi and Kelly say her name on Back to the Barre, but girls typically say “my dance teacher”. I guess it’s because the girls are talking negatively about her, so they have to say “my dance teacher”. It’s like how Jennette McCurdy said “the creator” in her book. We all knew it was Dan Schneider, but for legal reasons, she couldn’t say his name.
I enjoyed the vibe where there was a connection or link that was a constant delivering of each circumstance. What stood out the most was Emily being so secure into just moving on from things. I am sorry about control. Trap makes it so difficult but never faked. I wish understanding. So better then this.😢
28:31 i actually liked hearing about money from this angle i feel like this conversation kinda gave me some clarity on the whole concept of “if i had their money i’d…”

I love Maddie so much she is such an inspiration
Maddie has always been a pleasure to watch grow ❤ I can't believe how much time has gone by! It's sad these girls have blocked out so much from their childhood... you really don't see everything that goes on behind the scenes... the producers only show what they *want* to show us. We could already see it was a toxic environment for the kids.. but it was so entertaining that we brushed it off just for our needs.. and no amount of money is worth risking your child and their mental & physical health 💔 #MoneyIsTheRootOfAllEvil
Oh God, that little girl tolerated so much.. I sm so happy she is gealing ❤
I could’ve listened to this for another 3 hours
And even to remove power from that person. Without a name, they are no one.
4:27 this was me until a few months ago! I relate to this so much❤ I love hearing her talking about how much we change

I love hearing Maddie be so authentic and open. This is such a good natural conversation between two strong bright women. Love to see this.
They said the word “like” more than a million times. Barbie world
Love Maddie's personality.
Maddie is an icon.
TOTALLY!
So proud of Maddie and all of her growth :)
I enjoyed the vibe where there was a connection or link that was a constant delivering of each circumstance. What stood out the most was Emily being so secure into just moving on from things. I am sorry about control. Trap makes it so difficult but never faked. I wish understanding. So better then this.😢
I never heard the word ,,totally” this much.
Love Maddie❤
