If you couldn't tell we were a little excited for our first lambing season!
These are our first lambs at Keeling Farm but also our first set of F1 Katahdin x Australian White lambs. We are excited to develop the Australian White breed on our farm and build a parasite resistant flock to sell to others.

What is your sheep plan? 50/50 Australian White and Katahdin? Or? What's your main market you are aiming at? Love the intro music!!!!

Our plan is to breed up to full AW then be a seed stock producer. What drew us to this breed was their high quality meat but we’ve found it’s too much for us to be the ones who produce the stock, grow them out, and also sell to consumer. So we are just going to focus on the genetics and producing great AW for the US 👍🏻

Read between the lines , although when i got into katadins i thought they were an un finished breed. Now i dont know what your environment is. I made the ones i had into what i wanted real quick. I dont know what you are doing or planning but if feed lot i would suggest dorper or these Australian whites. They look more fluid moving than a dorper which would make them more likely to be an open range animal .i honestly dont know . But i know katadin would be hard to.beat . I went into this with no prejudice . Black bellies and st croix are great range sheep but i have found katadins to have all there desirable qualitys. Dorpers do not . They suck in parasite resistance and they are not fluid movers open range. Australian whites look like better movers than dorpers. But i would be wary that they are better than katadins. Im only guessing but 5 years experience in sheep life time of breeding quality animals .racing sled dogs and rolller pigeons and field trial beagles. My guess is if on small acreage, lot of grain dorper or Australian white. Open range no shelter no grain katadin or st croix or black bellie. Im not a master on sheep yet only 5 years . But i can only tell you figure out hiw you are going to raise them ,then pick a breed. I have land so naturally im predudice for the tough breeds and honestly cant understand why anybody would raise sheep.in a barn all the sheep i bought fro. That environment were full of worms or CL. But theres many people claim o ly way to keep sheep worm free is a c lean dry barn. But i havent had a problem since i.got the worms out of my origan a l stock
