New Pen Day ~ Unboxing Sailor Pro Gear Slim Wagashi Sakuramochi ~ Episode 149

Here's the STUNNING, sage green Sailor Pro Gear Slim Wagashi Sakuramochi; I got mine from my favorite fountain pen shop: Stilo&Stile.
This is a Pro Gear Slim, which is likely my favorite fountain pen size, style, model. I saw very early photos of this pen in a few places online, including at Sailor Japan's website before vendors had listings for it. The 'official' Sailor photos made this pen's body look matte like the pens in the Sailor Shikiori Sound of Rain series, so I was STUNNED to see the sparkling glitter and the polished finish; I could not take my eyes away from the pen!!
I am a sucker for Sailor's glittery-bodied pens, so I am really, really glad I pre-ordered it as soon as it was available (way back in March) because the green pens tend to sell out lickety-split, and this one was no exception.
The color is simply gorgeous, a gentle, sage-grey-green with very soft pink finials with more glitter than on any of my other Sailor pens. I think it's been bedazzled. Really.
Many of you already know the inspiration behind this series: Japanese Wagashi (Confection) Sweets, and this one is based on sakuramochi sweets - which consist of sweet, pink-colored rice cake (mochi) with red bean paste (anko) filling, wrapped in a pickled cherry blossom (sakura) leaf.
Like the Manyo Series, each of these pens comes in a set with a bottle of ink; the ink included with this pen is Sailor Shikiori Miruai Seaweed (nori). Very coincidentally, I already had my Shikiori Manyou pen filled with a cartridge of this color.
Please ignore the Styrofoam/paper fuzz on the pen. I was too transfixed by the glitter to wipe the fuzzies away.
Because the online photos of this pen are somewhat misleading, I compared the pen to two other fairly familiar Sailor green pens, the infamous olive colored Manyo Nuts and the super shiny, highly polished blue-green Shikiori Manyou. Each green is pretty different from the other on these pens, as is the gold-colored furniture. Don't ask me why I wrote Sailor 1911 for the Shikiori Manyou; perhaps I was too enthralled with the Sakuramochi to have any memory of names at that point.
