I'm white and grew up drinking Kool-Aid. I had no idea that it was a stereotype until I was in my 20's. I was at potluck dinner and a friend of mine had invited one of his friends. His friend was black. Almost everyone else there was white. He got there and saw all these pitchers of Kool-Aid and he goes, wait, white people drink Kool-Aid too? hahahahahaha We all have so much more in common in this world than we think. This is just one example.
Y'know, I grew up in a way country part of Georgia around dirt poor people. All those foods that are "black people" food? Yeah, they're just what really poor people in the south would eat.
You could raise chickens in your yard. Kool aid was a drink with flavor that cost like a quarter a gallon. Cornbread - again, enough for a family meal cost just a few cents.
I didn't realize these were considered black stereotype foods until I was in college.
A guy in line behind me at a cookout at a frat was looking at this black guy in the front of the line and he was like, "I'll bet he's going to ask for fried chicken."
Me: Um, what?
Him: You know, chicken?
Me: Um, what?
Him: 'Cause he's black?
Me:Um, what?
He spent a couple of minutes explaining that black people love fried chicken and I didn't get it then and don't get it now. Every time I order Chinese food there's a damned piece of fried chicken in it. Every time I go to KFC, there's tons of whatever flavor people live in that area in the restaurant.
As far as I can tell, pretty much everyone who has access to chickens eats chickens.
@@sam12six wow. It was cool that your shared your own story. There is nothing worse then people pretending that BS isn't real.
I grew up in the country part of New York state and I had cool-aid all the time and watermelon
Dude, I'm white, and I drank so much Kool-Aid as a kid.
ruclips.net/video/TGwLJWPPgrc/видео.html
Y'all are such a cute couple, and have such great personalities.
I agree with you, Jason
I die every time I see Gabriel retreat backstage as he starts laughing in the part where G. Reilly says "OMG, there gotta be bout 5 or 6 of em out there" X'DDDD
What’s funny is that kool-aid was huge back when I was a young kid, and I’m Mexican! So that kool-aid stereotype could be associated with anybody, not just one “ethnic” group.
But like y’all said, stereotypes change, so what may have been stereotypical 10-20 years ago, may not be relatable today!
Fried chicken is also universal, however I drink strawberry kiwi kool-aid
I actually just made some kool-aid myself last night. I love this story every time I play it.
I drink mostly water at this point, when i was a kid i used to love the Blue Raspberry flavor
@@YBMJETT I loved that one as a kid too. Now my favorite is fruit punch. I just use less sugar or splenda instead so it's not as bad for me.
I just realized I never answered the question of the day. My song would be I kissed a girl. My sister sang it so loud all day every day that I just couldn't stand hearing it.
Y'all should check out The Gift Basket Part 3. It's about a guy bringing Gabriel a Mexican racist gift basket. :D
Do you have a link for this one?

Gift basket part 3 - full version
Since you reacted to the gift basket, you should react to "gabriel iglesias gift basket part 3". Too funny...
Your relationship is such a gift. Treasure it!! Laughing together is one of the keys to a beautiful relationship.
If you like this you're going to love " Fluffy goes to India". I highly recommend you watch that one.
Mexican Gift Basket has a hysterical punch line ....
Funny bit but I never got the racism I like fried chicken watermelon Kool-Aid not sure about the liquor though I'm just saying has a white guy from a different country if I ask a black guy do you want Fried Chicken it's probably cuz I want Fried Chicken
Most annoying song is Gloria Gainer's I Will Survive. It's just that it was played too freaking often. Every time someone was doing a documentary or news piece talking about Disco that is the one they chose to play.
I love BBQ chips - universal.
16:40 the whole basket are universal! I love every thing in that
I really enjoy & love your reactions to comedy, it's so genuine & authentic. Please keep up the great work 🤗
Ya know, I think sterotypes are changing. It irrates me that right now in the world, NO ONE talks about the millions of us who arent racis, have never been! Wth? Guess Im tired of the "Black Lives Matter" only showing one side. Hey, my family grew up in the north, never had slaves,... Listen, I get their are bad people who judge by color of the skin. Its wrong. And black people arent the only one discriminated against. I know. sorry for the rant guys. Love your stuff!
Oddly, in the Bigger and Blacker dvd, there's a reference from Chris Rock to Koolaid and the Family Feud.
My mother is native american and my father was white. Born and raised in Texas. We were broke, my father in and out of jail for DWI’s. Fried chicken was something cheap to make and eat at home. I love bbq potato chips and watermelon. I do prefer actual grape juice to grape soda. We drank Kool-Aid when I was a kid but I don’t know any adults that drink it.
I'm married to the most beautiful black woman and YES she loves kool aid ... She likes Gabriel Iglesias but always got mad at me when I watch these reactions...
We in Alaska love kool-aid along with tang, even chicken, ribs, moose, whatever animal there is up here, even fish. We also love rice, noodles, whatnot. We kinda know the culture of almost every race, we watch a diversity of shows and movies even music, r&b, metal, rap, gospel, country, pop, k-pop, and so on. We get this is messed up but we all got our sense of humor
Dont take it personal guys it's a joke I am Mexican and I dont like beans or chile, but its funny 😉🙋♀️🥰
Answer to the question: Anything my kids sing. It’s been a long lockdown. 😆✌🏻👍🏻
I think it depends on what area of town you grew up in. We drank koolaid and had a lady across the street that sold cold cups(frozen koolaid in a cup) for 25 cents. My mom would cut a huge watermelon on a hot day and divide it between the kids on the block. I didn't know I grew up in the hood till someone mentioned it when I was 14. Koolaid is terrible for anyone, though. I believe everyone in the south likes fried chicken and bbq.
What you said about not knowing you grew up in the hood until someone told you rings very true to me. My maternal grandma was born exactly in the middle of the Great Depression to poor Midwestern farmers. She said she didn't know she was poor until adulthood because everyone else in the area was at the same financial level. It was just life, and she had fun.
i love kool aid (but now its rare here) I love chicken, I love watermelon, i love barbecue chips, i love love loooove grape soda... I dunno about the ebony magazine, i would like A chris rock dvd. but I dont smoke and drink anymore.
Drink the Kool-Aid still. Neighbor uses it as temporary hair coloring. Says it washes out easy and is a lot cheaper and is not as damaging as true hair dye.
Hey...I still make koolaid, man!! I gave up 40oz bottles in the late 90s!!! Love what y'all doing!!!
Honestly...
Happy by pharrel.
I HATE THAT SONG!!!
If you haven't seen him do the India thing, watch it. Funny af
I dunno if people DO still make Koolaid, but I do see it quite often in a few specific stores whenever I visit said stores, even after months of not visiting them, they still have Koolaid on their shelves.
Whether that means they're so popular they regularly get it or it's so unwanted it just sits on the shelves for months on end, I have no idea
I have never met a person that doesn't like fried chicken or watermelon....
It always makes a comedy reaction more fun when you overanalyze everything.
Most music made today! I prefer music from the 80’s!
first time checking you 2 out. funny funny! nerding it up for real! subscribing right now. hope to see more content in the future.
Despacito. I HATE that song. HATE IT.
Haha Staci used to loveee that song!! She even learned the Spanish part
This is the best 10 min standup ever. Perfect delivery.
This is a generational joke, for those of us over 40, especially if you grew up in the south, this gift basket was 100% accurate!!
I still make my own koolaid! The green is my favorite. 😊
this couple must be protected at all costs
We keep 2-3 packets of Kool-Aid and just mix one up once in a great while (maybe a couple of times a year).
I have never had Kool-Aid and I wouldn't drink The malt liquor but it might be a useful disinfectant
Lol yeahh idk about the malt liquor thing, i don't know if our liver is supposed to take in those kind of things
oh.. that shirt... i see, you are a man of culture sir..
I never really understood the Fried Chicken being black food thing. Who the hell doesn't like fried chicken?
Fried Chicken is a food that's basically anti-racist, it unites everybody under it's crunchy greasy goodness.
Me neither, but I like my chicken barbequed..
With the air date on that special (April 2013) and the subtraction of 7 years, the time of the gift basket incident was 2006 or 2007.
IDK the name of the song but i think it's a Katy Perry song. "CAUSE BABY YOU'RE A FIIIIIIIIREWORK! SOMETHING SOMETHING FIIIIIIIIIIIREWORK!"
That song came on like every 20 minutes at my old job. I probably wouldnt hate it so much of not for that
Haha i can't stand that song either! The beginning is like "do you ever feel, like a plastic bag" hahah!!
”Y’all still going to hell”🤣🤣
I don't know the name of the song. Celine Dion sings it. I think it's the song from "The Titanic." She sings something about "alone."
I made kool-aid for my kids with Stevia instead of sugar. The 2010s version of kool-aid.
There is a second gift basket the Gabriel tells about when a fan gives him a basket. Check it out.
My most annoying song would be a tie between "Red Red Wine" by UB40 and "Don't Worry Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin.
Seriously? You don't think the lyrics are amazing?!
"Red red wine, you make me feel so fine
You keep me rockin' all of the time
Red red wine, you make me feel so grand
I feel a million dollar when you're just in my hand
Red red wine, you make me feel so sad
Any time I see you go, it make me feel bad
Red red wine, you make me feel so fine
Monkey pack him Rizla pon the sweet Dep line
Red red wine, weh give me whole heap of zing
Whole heap of zing, make me do my own thing
Red red wine, you really know how fi love
Your kind of lovin' like a blessing from above
Red red wine, I loved you right from the start
Right from the start, and with all of my heart
Red red wine inna eighties style
Red red wine inna modern beat style
Yeah"
It's like they got an 8 year-old to rhyme some words for them...
Ikr!
Ok, I didn't know it was a stereotype till I joined the Army but......... Grape soda, Oatmeal, and Macaroni n cheese. Yep, you will be called a redneck kracker if caught eatn' any of that while being white. LOL! (you also will have a urinalysis every month if you drink grape soda) I pissed into a cup every month til someone told me about grape soda.
I'm white as snow and I love all that shit too
Totally loved it when G.Riley said no one ever smells chicken and thinks of racism. haha ha too funny.
Both of you are great.....I enjoy your comments and reactions
Justin did you pass gas?? That was a guilty I just farted swing of the hands and giggle at the end.!😂😂😂
Uhmmm I plead the 5th!!! Haha I didn’t know we left that part in the video!
I love the fact you guys brought up the NEW stereotypes because those are stereotypes from WAY back, such a great point that I never really thought about. Godd*mn you two are awesome! And sorry, but I have to say that Stacy is gorgeous, with all due respect to you both! Keep the content coming!! I think this kind of reaction video actually helps racial divides, so thank you!
Honestly, I thought most of that food was stereotypical of the South in general, not blacks particularly. Didn't really see BBQ chips until my brother-in-law from Louisiana married my sister.
First time on your channel because I wathced another reviewer and yall popped up. Well yall had a great reaction so I figured Id go ahead and check out your channel and now Im subbed. So to answer your question, I do lol. I have always loved all the things in the basket and Im WAF. Look, Yall got a great channel and I appreciate what youre doing you two seem like reall ass people. Thanks for the video
I still drink koolaid and I am in my 40s, never drank 40s of any kind of beer because beer actually makes me sick so I was always a hard liquer guy.
Bruh I love your shirt I love miku
good reaction guys, I like how you don't talk over the comedians like some other reaction channels do and miss some funny lines they say and have to go back.
I'm late but I still make koolaid 😂
Growing up white in the deep south, all these “stereotypes”, were ABSOLUTE necessity’s in our home. They still are. Chicken is my favorite meat, watermelon is my favorite fruit, we cook meals with cornbread all the time. I do however prefer orange soda over grape. Racism just makes no sense to me. I hate it.
I grew up on Kool aid and still drink it! It's poor man's juice!
Kool Aid is the equivalent to the Apple juice they sell in stores (like the Minute-Maid brand), nutritionally speaking. They're both just water and sugar. And I love them both.
Yes I'm 57 years old and I still make cool-aid. My favorite is grape.
baby shark
Hands down "What does the Fox Say" feels like my ears are bleeding whenever I hear it
Oooo I hated that song so much!!
@@YBMJETT I'm from Norway. On behalf of our country, I extend my deepest apologies for that song
Destruction of rascism through comedy.. PRICELESS
It is a great honor to be part of the Good time krew, and to you as our leaders
you forgot the Chris Rock 'Bigger sand Blacker' DVD....lol....I loved this. And it was all in good fun.
Mariah Carey and Morissette Amon singing, Fly like a bird.
I wanna know what love is by Morissette Amon.
Rise up by Morissette Amon 107.5
The prayer by marcelito pomoy.
Power of love by Sohyang.
I'm an Asian girl I grew up in the projects I grew up with a lot of fried chicken and kool-aid.
Think the only thing different is
We had import tunnel magazine,
A lot of fish, Hennessy or vodka,
And Anime and Drifting videos.
But I never knew fried chicken was considered a black thing.
To answer your question about our least favorite song, I CANNOT stand the "Tootsie Roll"...every time I hear that song, it makes me think of something inappropriate...knowing you, you're probably used to the "Tootsie Roll" song.
I'm white and I love water melon. Prefer honey melon or whats it called in english
Honey dew right?
The song that annoys me the most - Now don’t get me wrong, I love Ella Fitzgerald, adore Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin is the bomb , BUT, “Mack The Knife” is about a ..... murderer! Why are we singing about ..... a murderer?! Just sayin.
God is a woman by Ari grande
Gods plan by Drake.
The theme song from Batwoman trailer.
Hate those songs with a passion
I'm a white guy from MN... I mean, super white. At least 80% of my blood is a combo of English, Scottish, & Irish (in that order).
I have blue eyes, dark blonde hair, & a reddish moustache / beard. I don't tan in the summer, I just get painful sunburns.
In the winter months my skin is so pale I'd swear it glows in the dark.
Anyways, I grew up on Kool-Aid. Green lime flavor, orange, cherry, and yes, even grape from time to time.
I had watermelon as part of picnic lunches, my family ate fast food quite often (maybe a little too much).
I gotta say, Kentucky Fried was damn good in the 80's, but at some point people started freaking out about wanting their takeout to be healthier, now KFC just doesn't taste anywhere as good as it used to. I don't know what they changed but it sucks. Actually, as a kid, I preferred the taste of Church's Chicken... although my mother swears it's more greasy than KFC.
As an adult now, I don't mind the occasional 40oz bottle of Miller Genuine... and I've learned something about myself: my taste buds say Kool-Aid is too sweet.
1 cup of sugar + a packet to make 2 quarts? No thx, I gotta cut the sugar down to 2/3 of a cup, and add a little extra water to make it drinkable.
To sum up, yeah, maybe new stereotypes are in order for this 21st century.
45 cents to make 1/2 gallon of Kool Aid. 3/4 cup sugar. That works out to approx. 10 cents a glass. Ain't nothing wrong with Kool Aid. Lol
Anything by Taylor Swift, she's just overrated and overplayed.
"Take your time, you'll figure it out." I watched that special, and watched a few reaction videos and it wasn't until like the third reaction video that I got the joke, and it was because the reactor said "fat guy problems". So yeah, I took my time. OVER A YEAR. I'm an idiot.
this is probably funnier for those of us who remember the 80's, as this does describe some of the things that were considered "Black": Newports, (Marlboros would have been considered "white") 40 oz Colt Malt Liquor, etc..
Native Americans and Alaskan natives are the biggest demographic of smokers currently.
I agree that some stereotypes change with time. I'm I'm whiter than bread, and I grew up loving barbecue chips, fried chicken, watermelon, kool-aid, all that stuff. I didn't even associate that stuff with black people, I just really liked kool-aid and chicken. And who doesn't like barbecue chips at a cookout??? Lol Dave Chappelle had a great bit about stereotypes: "Looking at me because I like watermelon and fried chicken. Look, if you don't like fried chicken or watermelon, there is something wrong with YOU!"
The end of Elton John's Saturday night
Yes this is a little dated, but all these things I would see at the houses of my black friends back in the 70s .
And I still make kook-aid.
Made a gal two days ago.
The trick for making good kool-aid is use half the sugar.
Happy 4th of July
❤🤍💙
Song that annoys me the most "We Didn't Start The Fire" Bruce Springsteen. Song the makes me cry like a little bitch "Love Before Time" Coco Lee from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (English or Chinese version)
I'm asian and i love koolaid. Never tried newports tho. Never got to the 3rd world of the Philippines. We love ribs and barbecue chips too. And we love and drool over chicken too = jollibee, kfc and Popeyes is ❤️❤️❤️
I make kool aid, cherry and grape. I liked everything in the basket except I like the sunflower seeds without the shell. We're Hispanic and love that stuff so... Tbh, with the exception of the magnums, most of that could be considered universal.
Love you guys but you kind of did miss the entire point.... The very point of "stereotypes" is they are a widely seen "view" of But Not Necessarily true (or still true) that's what makes them stereotypes. They are in essence what "most people think" and not necessarily correct or even relevant (as you pointed out and G did too BBQ Chips or Fried Chicken Most People like regardless.... so making it a "black thing" is what makes it a stereotype. IF it was universally true it would simply be FACTS. Any way You guys are great keep up the fun vids just dont overthink this type of stuff....lol
Agreed. Regardless of skin color, don't we all love fried chicken, watermelon, and koolaid? xD I love cornbread to.
You know who else likes fried chicken? EVERYBODY! In the south, you eat what mamma put on the table. Fried chicken, black-eyed peas, collards, cornbread (damn, making myself hungry!). Then as I got older, I started seeing on TV, jokes about "soul food this" and "soul food that". Soul food? What the hell's soul food? Some exotic, African, Jamaican - no. It's just food. Food we've been eating forever in the south! And by south, I don't mean down on the farm in the back woods by the crick - no. Just regular houses in a neighborhood in a city. In case y'all get all stereotypical about what you THINK the south is.
What song annoys me? Gotta be Ice Ice Baby. Totally ripped off the tune from Under Pressure by Queen
I have a couple of songs that make my ears bleed. "Friday" by Rebecca Black and "Work" by Rihanna. Rihanna has so many great hits just not that one. 😅🤣
I drink Kool-Aid I don't make it super sweet tho I try to cut out sugar from my diet 😂 Kool-Aid is a Mexican thing too idk why people say it's only blacks but growing up as a child even in my Mexican friends house there was always Kool-Aid around
The first time I ever watched anything Gabriel was in, I think I was maybe 10 or 11, and I had no idea he was famous. I saw him on =3 here on RUclips and just assumed he was simply a friend of then-host Ray William Johnson and filmed an episode for him.
Also, Billie Jean by Alyona.
These songs are well known songs covered by new great singers. Alyona sounds so much like Michael Jackson. You're not going to believe your ears.
You are an adorable couple.
I love it when the black community reacts to this joke, because they're laughing at something that some would see as a negative and turning it into something positive and I love that
And this is coming from a native american/ irish man ok, so I get to deal with 2× as many stereotypes about my people and I just laugh cuz I find them funny
Guys it was a joke is a comediant !!! Smile 😁 I am a Mexican and I dont fit the profiles but I have sense of humor ...
To be honest, most of Billie Eilish annoys me. Growing up listening to Boston, Queen, Rolling Stones and other class acts, it annoys me when people make music when their singing can't match the music. No offense to her fans, but I can't stand it.
I spent a couple of years on the streets as a homeless person, and I can tell you black people do still smoke Newports. I'm white, and don't smoke, but selling Newports is the most popular way to make money among the homeless. I did have my own little hustle selling drink flavor packs and was known as the Kool-Aid man. But other than Ebony, Newports, and Magnum condoms, I love all that stuff too.
My kids love kool-aid. And I grew up drinking it. Don’t have it all the time, but we have some cherry in the house right now.
