The way I see it is many men can play the romantic comedy character quite well - all they have to do is be charming and good looking not necessarily be able to act. But all the roles he has taken more recently really show his acting ability and that is likely the career he wants. He wants to be more than a charming guy in a romantic movie, he wants to make people think and feel things beyond adding to their romantic fantasies. He is really a gem of this generation!

And now it seems we will never see him in a comedy again because he probably gets so many dramatic offers, and drama is seen as "above" comedy (which is a shame--they're just different genres with different purposes and require somewhat different skillsets, both of which he possesses).
