jian mentioned!! i just want to say that i love the appreciation that petalcore/botanica is getting, seeing my friends and mutuals get attention from their art has been so inspiring for someone who has left writing in that field for a while now. i've used to write a ton of stuff in this scene before it became the crazy sound design genre that it is now. i still have a few tunes out there in that indie-tronic scene but it's not something that i write anymore but it still holds a place in my heart because of all the friendships i made along the way when doing so. so i just wanted to say thank you for this video and shining light on these small artists and especially jian, it's a bit rare to see them mentioned in a botanica tutorial and they were one of the first friends i've met on soundcloud and we even have a track together which is pretty old haha. once again, thank you for this video and i hope it inspires more people to become artists or push limits and create what they want.
wow thank you for such kind words! I hope the space gets a lot more attention too. Botanica is surrounded by very cool people with an awesome community around it!
i had just noticed you uploaded this video i love the charm of this video, so simple yet very informative, and also i'll prolly get into the botanica genre soon too. glad you got to finish the video, and also feel better soon! (if you aren't already) - lawful autism
omgg the video came out, ty for the mention !! This is such a sweet video format, it feels very comforting to me haha Great video, you should do more like this !!
oh my goodness, kiru thank you! this video was the result of pushing myself wayy past where I would normally go for a video :) i'm happy you got to see it!
Genuine thanks for this vid, not only was it sick to experience so many songs, but crazy to discover many talented I would have never heard of. the piano at 2:18 was also a nice touch to the whole vibe, amazing job with the whole production!
Ay JR thank you bro! I'm glad to see you got something out of the vid. It took me a while to gather all the info for it, so it's nice that it's already paying off. The artists who make botanica type music are so good at what they do!
I appreciate you! Keeping the vibe consistent was actually something I really struggled with throughout the video making process. Because it took 3 months to make, I would feel very different depending on the day! Thanks!
Thank you so much for watching! Novel has been instrumental in making botanica more readily accessible to people getting into it! You'll probably hear about it more as new people come along because they built the ladder for them :)
i'm so glad you saw the video! :D I was really inspired by your piece to give that section of the video a more melancholic vibe! I think it's sooo cool
another amazing vid my man. Botanica feels very familiar despite never having actively listened to it. I get the feeling a/some form of Botanica gets used in games a lot, or is that just me?
@@VikIsLost yuh he was like a child prodigy. He made a couple slaps and disappeared. I love seeing this sound come back. the genre literally came up on my algorithm this week. It’s good seeing people still push the limits of sound design in a fun way.
@@zonashi8645 yeah man, the people who make this stuff are so insanely talented - to the point where i made this video just to hype the scene. thanks for the backstory that's crazy

some botanica does sound like it would be perfect for video game music! especially the open world ones
@@VikIsLost Exactly what I was thinking!! like some Pokemon or Zelda type stuff
Damn! real ones remember grynpyret. He was making stuff extremely similar to botanica 10 years ago. Damn near wrote the blueprint.
yo I had to go check out grynpyret. I dunno how after 3 months of doing research I didn't find out about this person. Definitely an OG
