These guys are smokin'. Pure American pride. And let's not overlook the great vidoegraphy. What a delight to see this captured and shared to the world. Inspiriing musicians all playing at their highest levels. Loved it uvisnigreen! Many thanks for sharing.
Bobby went to my high school in pasadena california..john muir high. He was two years ahead of me...I remember an elderly lady on the bus sitting next to me as i was reading my latest issue of downbeat magazine and she said is that bobby!..i used to hear him playing all the time, we were neighbors and i would hear him in the summertime when all the windows were open. I Really miss his soul and could always hear the relaxed warm sound of los angeles in the sixties in his playing. R.I.P. Bobby...We miss you.
Bobby is gone now. Another warm light out. The room of my world keeps getting a little dimmer with the passing of these titans who were once providing us substance for the soul.
Leave it to Bobby Hutcherson to breathe new life into this old standard. I once saw him in Philadelphia, along the river. A tugboat blasted its horn, interfering with the music. But Bobby played that note again, then over and over again, in time to the beat. Then he exclaimed something like "That's a Bad Note"! What a fantastic musician he was!
This song is great. You can take it so many different way. This version has great drive. From the start they just take off running and they don't let up.
Great players all - BUT! they had to have worked really hard to have fucked (this great tune) up as bad as this cut :( Ouch! Mort Weiss SMS JAZZ "The Mort Report" @ All About Jazz.
I cannot understand what you mean. They cut badly? My English is a little scholastic. But about my feelings they were tired and that's all fantastic anyway

Rest In Peace Bobby, Dwane, and Eddie. What an inspiring reminder of your time among us.

Man, that 's a great memory.Once they are gone there are no replacements! that rival them in terms of soul!
What a great memory in this time of self- isolation. Thank you for sharing!!!!
Thanks for sharing your heartwarming memory Alan. Bobby's soul is out there with us mere mortals. Very humbling to think this.
Bobby Hutcherson......always and always a terrific performance. May his soul rest in peace
Dynamite. Love the stand up bass.

Wish you all the best !!!
Just seeing Burno’s face made me happy, let alone what he played
Nobody was better; no one had a more colorful, beautiful or evocative vibe and marimba sound...
Rest well Dwayne. Your musical voice will go on, thankfully. A pleasure to hear you play gentle soul.
Joe Gilman is the sole survivor of this set.
Mucus running down Bobby Hutcherson's nose but he doesn't care he's deep in the music~ Dwayne Burno also gone. Rest in Peace fellows
Outstanding rendition of Waller's classic! The Vibes work wonderfully with this piece as Bobby expands it and reinterprets it..
Such a pretty tune
Bobby Hutcherson - Always intelligent and interesting a great improviser !
Nice to stumble across a real gem like this every once in a while. Thanks for uploading!
..... An exceptional performance by all these musicians here.......
---Jitterbug Waltz is actually a souped-up Fats Waller piano composition, dating back to 1942, believe it or not...
Love especially the first couple choruses of Joe Gillman's solo. Love it. Listening over and over.
YES, AWESOME. WHAT A GREAT PIANIST.
RIP Bobby + Dwayne
Great solo of Dwayne Burno :)

I first heard Hutcherson on the album with Andrew Hill four decades ago and since then have been following his music... always so fresh and brilliant
