UBI has real costs that motivated people have to pay.
Our current system of earnings is based on production whether it be personal or corporate. If you are successful and the government comes along and says we want 50% of your wealth because you have to pay for people who aren't motivated how is that fair? The truth is a restaurant owner or a hamburger stand owner who works 18 hours a day deserves his just reward which is seen in profits for labor. I don't see a benefit in Universal basic income but it is a topic worth discussion.

To make UBI a reality they need to start out in gradual steps. First they need to make the CTC permanent and then they need to move on to making similar incomes available to the disabled, the elderly and finally the rest of US society. It will not be easy since almost all the GOP politicians and those Democrats like Manchin and Sinema who have accepted bribes from the billionaires and wealthy corporations will fight it every step of the way. Thinking about it will make it seem like a long and drawn out war.
