This video helped me realise that I just can't be good at drawing by just looking at other people doing it and forcing myself the thought of "I like art", or "I like drawing". I understand now that I'm supposed to be ENJOYING what I truly like. I guess I'm more comforted now that I know this instead of thinking everyday that I'm just embarrassing myself by drawing something that doesn't reach my expectations. Thank You!

Holy shit bro, I’ve been doing art for 14 years and I’m incredibly envious of your progress! I had skill regression due to masked autism, and lost some of my art skills that I learned during coping with traumatic points in my life, I’ve basically given up relearning because not being able to do as good as I used to is disheartening. But this video gives me some motivation, it’s proving we just have to be consistent to do better.
Exactly! Consistency will lead to improvement, and when it doesn’t, it just means that your artistic eye is improving at the same rate.
I grew up drawing every chance that I got, but then I used it as an unhealthy coping mechanism during a bad time in my life, so I have a hard time doing it right now. Watching this video though made me realize that I can still get simple enjoyment from drawing again if I allow myself to simply see it as such. It doesn’t have to be a competition to be the best.
Also notice how he still judged his art,, as an artist it’s easy to feel upset and not happy with your own art. Anyway I think u can do it! Goodluck

Potential tip: if it’s on paper and you have access to a photo copier/scanner, scan it/copy it so you can try out the colors without worrying about ruining the original. Not sure how well this works if you’re using a specialized paper but it’s a thought

It varies a lot from person to person. I don't draw often, but I'm often thinking about technique and carefully taking in day-to-day sights. Next time I pick up my pencil, I'm doing a better job. Most important is to think about what you're doing, shed awareness to your own actions, and it will make you better.
I think it's a combination of good practicing methods and repetition. He already started with learning from many references and also how to break them down into simple shapes. Shapes and forms are fundamentals. They make drawing much easier. He also stayed in his area of interest for a while and kept repeating the same or similar things. In this case, the faces. Then, he started to expand into areas relative to what he already knows, like expressions, bodies, and he also started experimenting with different angles. I don't know if he realizes this or not, but he's very smart with how he learns and practices.
Your growth in skill is so inspiring. And you genuinely have such a nice style. The girls have such cute fashion and the little characters you add are so creative. Good luck on the journey going forward!
I can feel the words... "I was too scared to commit to coloring." This happens when you take too much time, and the sketch is too beautiful. I do suck at coloring so I really relate to those words.

As an artist, the reference for poses we do on our own can get wild lmao. I like to imagine Felix's facial expression also changes on reflex to match the face of the character while he draws

A very quick out of the blue tip, when shading with white, use blue instead of gray, it looks so much better! This is genuinely amazing!
Also in the drawing with the circle behind, pewds, it would help a lot if you just keep the colour but avoid the black inking, it will give a better contrast between character and background

It depends bro, sometimes grey is better, sometimes its blue tint is better, sometimes its yellow tint is better
its situational, depending on the background, if the background is hell, you dont use blue

This is pretty inspiring. I have been in an art rut for 5 years. I lost my motivation for many different reasons and just recently decided to try to get back into it after hearing about your draw progress videos. Part of me wishes i could start from scratch and go back to that time where i just drew for fun, not overly criticizing myself, always over analyzing and just adjusting over and ovet and over...to see such progress in a third of a year from when you started is amazing. I cant wait to see where you end up in a year 😌 dont lose your drive!

Totally relatable. I think it's where you come to a place where you start becoming a perfectionist or have higher hopes of yourself - but you never get satisfied, forcing you to do things differently than what you actually know and the results lean that way. I've experienced it a lot with writing music.
Even if you can't tell a physical difference from, yesterday till' tommrow, the linework condfidence is definitely noticeable! Keep drawing felix we can see the improvements!! ✨️
ive been struggling with art block and watching this reminded me why i love art so much. i got so caught up in trying to do the best i possibly could that i forgot how fun it is to just draw. how much fun i had in my first few years doing it and the joy i got from learning and progressing. 1:22 as a artist call this the "potemkim phase" because this happens after you go crazy and start improving but the next day the improvement you had disappears. This happens because you see something wrong and you fix it but you don't understand why and you revert back to the stage where you didn't see the mistake. Then your soul starts singing "im a fool,I know nothing. I take the role of a silly clown" hence the potemkim phase. So to counter that, you must understand everything to the point where you can teach and or fundamently understand why it's supposed to look like that
And don't forget to Pot Buster the sketch book when you rage at it. It helps to keep your mind clear

Watching the progress pewds made not just inspired me to attempt the same method, but also reminded me that it's always never too late to learn something you were passionate about but procrastinated for years because of how unsure you are about the imaginary disappointment it will lead.

not relly any different, i had a similar experience with pixel art when i first got started, if you're entusiastic to do it every day you and you find the right learning resources for you, you improve incredibly quickly, the hardest part is being motivated to sit down and do it.

@@thatundertalegenius9961 same. That's just a part of what happens when you're an artist. And you wonder if you should quit and never paint or draw again but then it's over and art makes you feel even better than before. It just takes some time. You got this 👍
It’s hard to convince people on how much they can improve by drawing daily, you can improve so much in the span of a month if you’re willing to suffer through the “bad days.” You just need to be willing to spend a lot of time feeling frustrated before something clicks and all of a sudden you start to get it.

I was lucky enough to start at a fairly young age so I was proud of even the worst ones lol. (I still get frustrated all the time but it's just the common artist frustration)

I do that a ton as well, the one I remember specifically... Someone at work asked me to draw them a picture of Trunks from DBZ, I had a cool thought of posing him in his black tank top, holding his coat over one shoulder and his sword over the other. I thought "Well, I have a coat, and I have a sword... And I've been hitting the weights pretty hard... I could pose!" Lost of a lot of self confidence that day... But the drawing came out sick lol

It’s so inspiring, as an artist, to see this. Art I believe can be learned by everyone, it’s a skill that develops everyday. A muscle so to speak. The therapeutic results are insane
As an artist i believe you’ve understood way more than i could ever, considering how much time u put into it i can undertstand how u got this far, i never commited to art bc i found it dissapointing when i made a artpiece that didnt sit right w me so i gave up, i knew that i shouldnt have put myself down but ur way better at colouring and perspective good job though, its rlly amazing wt u can get with commitment.
you have a very intuitive sense of color. I've been drawing for over 15 years and I still can't get the hang of coloring, but your colored pieces already look like a sketchbook you could apply to a color assistant position 😭 if you improve in composition and original character design you could probably be at a level to apply to art school 😭😭😭 the envy is killing me

5:56 Pewds, it’s 100% not weird. Literally every artist does that- using yourself as a reference for a pose is a common thing that most artists do. It’s wayyy easier to use yourself as a guideline than a 3D model or going on the internet. Artist moment fr o7

yup, i do that too it was so relatable when he said that. sometimes i’ll scroll through my camera roll and just see photos of me doing poses for drawing references lol

one of the best things i learned that made my art better was warming up I always start with drawing circles squares cubes and cylinders with cross hatching and squiggles I instantly saw improvement with warmups

Sometimes you use it so much that your characters start looking like you! So maybe adjust the promotions when you're posing for a reference lmao
I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW MOTIVATING THIS IS!!! Been Drawing off and on all my life, and I've felt like I messed up by not drawing as much as I should have for the last 5 years or so, But Seeing How amazing your art is even after 100 days reminds me that If I want to be better it's not unattainable. I can't Wait for the Next update!
