Third Eye Blind came into the restaurant I was managing about 21 years ago. They were very cool.
Love Third Eye Blind, only really started listening to their other albums in my teen years, haven’t stopped. I discovered them late but they are one of my fav.

Without Kevins 10 compositions on the self titled , 3eb does not gain a major nor devoted fan base

you should. They have some really nuanced and well-arranged material, aside from their big singles
They were mtv darling back in the day in your era,,lots of airplay, should know their stuff if you watch mtv much back then
Listen to their first 2 albums front to back then go see them in concert. You’ll be hooked forever
And I will also add to the list. Third album…Into The Vein is killer.
I'm sure they Hollywoodized it but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true as they're known for being ridiculous.
Yeah just bc tommy didn't confront them like they did in the show DOES NOT MEAN they didn't all sit there talkin mad shit about them in studio B or whatever it was 😂 that's why is was used for the show

My two cents. Context is king, 3rd Eye Blind was not a Grunge band they were marketed as a "Pop-Alternative" band. Meaning no weird lyrics, no dark lyrics and no weird music, ala Pearl Jam, NiN, RATM and Nirvana. So in the eyes of critics, record collectors, and pop music historians, Third Eye blind wasn't to be taken too seriously. So Motley Crue was really playing second fiddle to this super accessible Alternative band, was kinda mean. It shows how low on the totem pole Motley Crue was.

@@EMAWmeister You are right. But let's compare the depth of the dark and weird lyrics. Nine Inch Nails has lyrics like "I wanna fuck you like an animal because it takes me closer to God" or anything RATM does about some Leftist political prisoner. 3EB would never touch that kinda darkness with a 10 foot pole. They have dark and weird lyrics that are easily digestible by the casual Music/rock fan.

@@EMAWmeister Is Third Eye Blind really not Grunge? I always assumed they were a part of the scene. Jumper, Semi-Charmed Life and Graduate all talk about the same issues Grunge did.
I'll admit they were definitely more BubbleGrunge a la Everclear, Goo Goo Dolls and Foo Fighters, but they're just as Grunge as anyone else in the 90s
