I have a set that looks exactly like that. Bought it new in 1985. Never could get rid of it. It just held up so well all those years, it sounded good and never let me down. Even the steel snare drum that came with it sounds good. So I keep it around for a practice / gigging set. The interior finish is called zola coat.
Wow! I have an identical kit, right down to that amazing snare drum. My black Swingstar snare sounds exactly like yours. It's a great snare to record with. Here's my kit ruclips.net/video/suqdlwwSWNc/видео.html (with a Rosewood Superstar snare - all early 1980's vintage). If I didn't already have a black Tama Swingstar kit I''d have "drumit envy" big time now. Thanks for sharing!

I have mine too..The best giging kit ever, so solid and still sounds awesome
The granitone interiors are perfect to play rock.
Still the BEST kit Tama ever made.. still sounds better than overpriced DW. i still play mine
I owned this kit - same color and model. Purchased at Sam Ash in Manhattan, new.
Does anyone know any Tama drummers?
I can't see them behind those mounted floor toms.
I have a double kick set with 6 Tom's like this. Still in mint condition.
Sounds nice. Bass drum could do with a 'thud' sound i reckon
I concur,says this drummer.
A REAL SASSY LITTLE SET!
nice job

Good afternoon Please tell me how you adjusted the resonant head relative to the drum; higher or lower? And at what interval?
