Friday Night Funkin' (often abbreviated to FNF) is an open-source rhythm game first released as a demo in 2020 for a game jam. The game is developed by a small group called The Funkin' Crew Inc., with the four founding members being the Newgrounds users Cameron "ninjamuffin99" Taylor, David "PhantomArcade" Brown, Isaac "Kawai Sprite" Garcia, and evilsk8r. The game shares some gameplay features with Dance Dance Revolution and PaRappa the Rapper and borrows aesthetic influences from Flash games. The game has been credited with driving users back to Newgrounds, a site whose popularity peaked in the early 2000s.
The game mainly revolves around the player character, Boyfriend, who must defeat a variety of characters in singing and rapping contests in order to continue dating his love interest, Girlfriend. Gameplay revolves around hitting notes with timed inputs while avoiding running out of health for the duration of the song.
The game was initially created for the Ludum Dare 47 game jam on October 5, 2020. An expanded demo was released on November 1, 2020, with updates being released in the following months. A full version backed on Kickstarter titled Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game is currently in development.

I like how you kind of explained metal halting .exe by the line, "cant fight something with no soul," showing that .exe's power is mainly based around souls and not physical strength
i think he's pretty strong tho, he probably forgot about metal because he can't torture him for fun y'know, because he's a robot with no soul, so exe didn't care much for him
People forget metal sonic is supposed to be a perfect counter for sonic with him being the same speed as him and probably more in strength and durability

Something I noticed at the beginning is (and I don't know if this was intentional or not) the anti-piracy is a great reference to the sonic pc port demo. For those who don't know, after lord X kills tails (or at least some point after) the game crashes and your given an anti-piracy screen. Your also given a text document on your desktop and every time you read it, the sonic on the anti-piracy screen get angrier and angrier till the window just closes and you can't open the game again. It really cool you referenced that. It also cool how instead of an fnf song with lyrics, this is an actual, original song. Great job! I hope to see more stuff like this!

So the sonic isn't meant to look like lord X. plus his disguised form doesn't have an X on his chest so it could just be him in his disguise form. Anyway I was just thought it was a cool reference In the animation.

I really enjoy the fact Metal Sonic can actually stand up to sonic.exe. Cause what better to fight with, then yourself.
This is hella underrated. I loved the animation when it first came out, and I'll be real, wasn't expecting a lot going in, but there wasn't one line where you dropped the ball. Every rhyme was impeccable and the consistency was astonishing! The only thing I could even critique was the effect on the voice made it a little hard to parce what he was saying, but it helped make it sound more ominous. Plus, that's what subtitles are for XD

I like how exe playing with his food us what makes everything fall apart. If he had just killed eggman instead of just toying with him then eggman wouldn't have been able to call metal sonic.
Exactly, he was top busy gloating to realize all the flaws. He spent most of his time messing with Tails when his biggest threat was ironically Eggman.
There's multiple ways he could've won, and one of them was destroying Metal.
Soul or not, it can easily beat you if you're too busy gloating and not actually focusing on your objective.

From what i saw, right before EXE could claim Tails, Metal interfered, freeing Espio, Mighty, Espio, Amy Robotnik and Knuckles. While also saving Sonic with all of them escaping from EXE. Did I understand it right?

The line "cant fight something with no soul"proves that sonic.exe he can mostly fight souls turning them to puppets but metal is a program and has no soul and was able to get sonic soul and saved him proving that souless beings have a change to fight sonic.exe
I thought about that too, very interesting take on the ending.
I also noticed, as soon as he drags exe and pulls him thru the stage, he’s using his Maximum Overdrive attack from the classic games ( which can break thru anything, which he got into the (castle?) and saved everyone.

I didn't notice it but in the animation when metal attacks exe eventually sonics able to control his own body again which explains why we see him at the end
also funny how metal sonic saved the real sonic proof he can be a good guy sometimes

I’m gonna be honest this was a lyric that I wasn’t expecting, yet I’m kind of glad I found it.
I don't know if it was intentionnal, but when Metal Sonic speaks with emotion (basically just past the "Target Acquired"), he sounds just like Sonic with a filter, it's almost as if they fused or if Metal Sonic reprensented the last bastion of Sonic's will to stop Exe, something like that
Anyways it was cool asf

I don’t think people give credit for how well metal and exe were characterized in the metal phase. Yes it’s cool but to me its alot cooler the more you think about it, They aren’t in a secluded area, they are in a open field with at most fragments of UI scattered about, Metal could’ve reasonably jumped him even before Knuckles even died and even if you’d say the corpses had to be present to free them(which it doesn’t seem to be implying based the souls being free after EXEs true form is revealed) the corpses were there for a solid minute and EXE was distracted for a long time. This isn’t metal just coming clutch, he literally waited till the last second to jump EXE and it’s obvious why he does that because right after he berates and mocks him (4:38 to 4:46). Metal wants not only to show EXE up, but is being as petty as possible while doing so. The back and forth is just as telling. EXE spouts “I’ll destroy you machine” This is pretty hypocritical considering he mostly exercises his demon powers on code within a machine. Metal replies “To wish to beat me’s obscene” keyword, “wish”, not “try” just the notion of him wishing bad upon Metal is shocking, offensive, differing from society to the point of collective shunning, not even EXE is obscene(Which he is), JUST someone like EXE hating metal can be considered obscene. The next line and how’s it’s said perfectly characterizes EXE as a narcissist, Why so? Because no-one gets folded like that and shouts “This isn’t what I’ve foreseen” like “aw shucks, people punching other people ain’t normal buddy”. He is so done he starts shouting orders at the damn universe. The next line is possibly the best executed duet line story wise I have seen “you don’t deserve to beat me”. EXE is probably using this line as the last of his vanity shield because he was stomped so hard but they are both right on some fundamental level, they don’t deserve to beat other, because they are the same. They are both vain clones of Sonic made for villainous purposes with immense power but just can’t live up to their expectations. The fact all the next few lines are duetted and the fact neither of them win or die from the encounter cements this fact, they won’t beat each other. Metal wins because of two things. He holds control within, he’s confident in his abilities and his wants. I mean gosh EXE spends the entire section before this gloating to tails, the person he wants to kill, right there, and he’s doing nothing. But. MONOLOGGING. He’s lost all his control. Secondly, there’s another hidden meaning to “you can’t fight something with no soul” the only line people mention with good reason. It isn’t just referring to the over-sight it’s a bold statement about the main he reason he lost, he had no agency. Tails and knuckles and eggman and sonic and mighty and ALL OF THEM had agency because they had something to lose and knew what it was like to lose. EXE lost because metal had no soul and he had no soul, EXE lost because he couldn’t confront metal and couldn’t..confront himself.
TL,DR: this is a mental rant because I love this video about how is metal is petty and showed exe up because they’re the same at a fundamental level and exe is also a incompetent indifferent loser
