not all dragsters are top fuel some people bracket race with them because they are light these means you don't need as much horse power as a full body car that also means its easier on the wallet
Also keep in mind the dragster is a Super Competition dragster. NHRA Super Competition cars are required by rule to run no faster than 8.900 seconds in a run. Any faster and that's a disqualification. Super Gas is a similar class for 9.900 seconds. Bracket vehicles are required to run no faster than the posted time or face a disqualification.
Help me out, here, dragster drivers. I'm wondering what affect the cold temperatures had on the stickiness of the pavement and the slicks. Plus, did the driver burn in his slicks? Traction may have been a considerable factor here. The snowmobile had a lot more rubber on the ground. The dragster may have had to baby the throttle to maintain traction.
Sorry I've driven Super Comp dragsters for 17 years and have run off the throttle stop 7.70 @ 177 mph. No way was that dragster running full out off the stop. Even on the stop running 8.90 he should have beat that sled. 129mph on that sled would maybe put you in the 9sec range. Totally fake video
Im guessing most of you have never ridden a 4 stroke yamaha. They maybe heavier then 4 strokes, but they have a lot of torque and this is a drag race not a crosscountry race so the weight isnt that big of a deal.
The dragster was clearly throttle stopped, I know that track is up in the altitude but the dragster was clearly throttle stopped. He said it usually goes 168 mph, that should be atleast low 8's may be high 7's. Gil
@THESHITTTTT65 A 505hp 3300lb Z06 goes 125 in 1/4 mile, you can't tell me an 800hp, guessing around 2000lb dragster is going to be going any less than 140. I also doubt that sled got going any more than 120, after re-gearing and everything you can't expect the speedometer reading he got to even be in the ballpark of what it was really doing.
Ocman 60 super comp dragsters don't usually launch much harder than a pro street vehicle but they have such long gears in them and only run 2 gears they usually run smooth up to their top speed. Capable of running low 7's in the quarter but generally running in the 8.90 index. They have a wide range to tune for but the reason a 130mph sled can beat something running much faster is because it can get to top speed a lot quicker.
I am familiar with the class that you are talking about. This video does not make sense. First a Super Comp dragster uses a delay setup. You are incorrect about the gear setup. Even with the delay box turned on the car would still run in the 8.90s. If the delay was turned off he would be running much faster. This sled running at a 128 miles per hour would not be in the 8 second range. More like in the 10 second range. The driver is peddling or just not giving his all from the start.

not just like, they look pretty mutch the same but some things in the chassie and suspension + more are different and I would choose a Lynx if I had to choose between a Lynx and Doo "of the same sort"
@sergeantblackman There are many different classes of dragsters. Yes, a top fuel dragster can hit a top speed of 300mph. But this was most certainly not on of those.
Snowmobiles (at least the ones used for drag racing) have the fastest acceleration in all motorsport, dragsters included. The finishing speed is something else, though :) But the snowmobiles can do a 1000 feet drag in the low 7 seconds. This video, however is obviously just a fake ad for yamaha.
the owner of the car said during his interview that it was a 7 sec. car, then hauck says that he has a race with a 10 sec car. yeah the car clearly didn't have to try to hard it was capable of being 3 secs faster
F you, your the one that said 15, maybe on that run, 7's would typical. I think you me and everyone else in the world know that was rigged. Nice try is a good name for you, you should keep it.
Snowmobile guy said he hit 129mph, that is good for about 11 sec 1/4. The dragster said he was good for 8 second 1/4 mile, to pull that off requires a trap time of around 170 mph... something is a little fishy with the math.
@TurbinePower69 "The INDEX is 8.90." 8.899 or faster is legally, in the rule book, a breakout. A breakout means you're disqualified unless (a) there is a foul start, (b) boundary line violations, or (c) the opponent is faster than you (double breakout, closer to index wins).
What yall don't relise that drag car is not a top fuel it runs on race gas not nitro not anything specail. A family friend has one they are only good for 9's or 10's
This...seems kinda fishy. they didn't time the race, so there's no quarter miles times, and you never really hear the dragster during the actual race. He had to have been soft shoeing it. Not saying a snowmobile couldn't win that kinda race, seen it done, but not THAT snowmobile. Air filters and slip on noise makers won't pull off a 10second pass. The Yamaha commercial says it all.
My 900 Zr ran it at 9.8 seconds at 133 mph. Stock. That dragster was not even acting like he had nothing. Didn’t even spin it’s wheels looks rigged to me.
ehhh, i did see a teenage girl do low 7's in the 1/4 mile at the track near my house... talk about scary as shit! she's there running her modified snow mobile all the time
ok, dragsters are made for nothing other than speed. the snowmachine would not have had a chance in real world. good thing it was filmed in commercial dreamland where anything is possible!
The problem is the Nytro makes 130hp-150hp. The CFR1000 makes near 200hp. And the CFR1000 weighs 50-80lbs less than the Nytro. The Yamaha Nytro will get smoked.
That was the slowest dragster ever made
not all dragsters are top fuel some people bracket race with them because they are light these means you don't need as much horse power as a full body car that also means its easier on the wallet
top fuel frame
Prius engine
this is so fake. that dragster was way less than 50% throttle
brandon b I agree
U don’t understand how fast sleds are
world record for slowest dragster
i love how the front end of the dragster doesnt even hop up when it launches
Next time the dragster driver needs to put some pressure on the throttle, at least 50% so it won't look THAT fake.
They try so hard to make the new Yamis look good... but fail every time.
Felt like a advertisement yamaha made
the dragster did not even closely run as well as it could just my two cents.
the dragster was on 5th gear or neutral
If that nytro is so fast put it up against an 1100 turbo cat and then see who comes out on top...
Also keep in mind the dragster is a Super Competition dragster. NHRA Super Competition cars are required by rule to run no faster than 8.900 seconds in a run. it all depends on what kinda dragster it is and the sled is lighter to
Slowest dragster ever. Calling the bullshit card.
yeah it was like a bit more than 8 seconds, didnt the dragster say he did mid 7s?
I love their accents! Hahaha, that snowmoblie is pretty swwet though
Im guessing most of you have never ridden a 4 stroke yamaha. They maybe heavier then 4 strokes, but they have a lot of torque and this is a drag race not a crosscountry race so the weight isnt that big of a deal.
oo! this is hauck power sports in rice lake, wi. correct???
3 cylinder 130 horse..in 1997 they had a triple with 120 horse that was 50 pounds lighter.
awesome !
How much did Yamaha pay the dragster to throw that race
What were the best times?
Just the facts man.
"Why don't we just take care of this right here in Brainerd?"
dude. power to weight ratio comes into effect. but yea the dragster does seem kinda slow.
The dragster was clearly throttle stopped, I know that track is up in the altitude but the dragster was clearly throttle stopped. He said it usually goes 168 mph, that should be atleast low 8's may be high 7's.
Gil
cuz they would just melt as there is not snow to lube the track, they have rollers instead
@THESHITTTTT65 A 505hp 3300lb Z06 goes 125 in 1/4 mile, you can't tell me an 800hp, guessing around 2000lb dragster is going to be going any less than 140. Please talk about a setup. How does a 129 miles per hour beat a Super pro dragster.
Ocman 60 super comp dragsters don't usually launch much harder than a pro street vehicle but they have such long gears in them and only run 2 gears they usually run smooth up to their top speed. hahahahahaha i like the ricer math when he's explaining the sled!!! lol!!!!
If you time it from when she dropped her hands to when the dragster crossed the line, its about 11 seconds, not 7. He let the snowmobile win
That a boy Pat!!!!
Yamaha are pretty smooth ride on hard surfaces though, pavement ice hard pack snow on a slat surface
are you guys in Ontario? Saw Rice Lake lol
ntlaml minnesota
jake heikkenen
It's Rice Lake, WI. How do I know this? I bought my sled from them.
Because i have a BIR in my city and its brainerd international raceway sooo are there more than one idk do you know?
Hauk is in Rice Lake, Wi...

the rail eather had a throtle stop or a low revlimiter and didnt the dragster guy say it can run high 7s
thats what super comps all about smart guy....
Do you believe that all media "----of the year" awards are real unbiased assessments? The "sledhead" group released this little gem.
Think about it.
pretty slow fucking dragster...........
not just like, they look pretty mutch the same but some things in the chassie and suspension + more are different and I would choose a Lynx if I had to choose between a Lynx and Doo "of the same sort"
So what was the final 1/4 mile time?

The dragster ran 7's what was the sled time?????
no way in shit hell that dragster ran 7's. Try in the 15 second range.
+nicetry64 You ever been to drag race, a stock Vette is faster than 15.
Rick Becker
you ever been out of your house? Guess not. The race was rigged dumbass. Dragsters do NOT run that slow. He ran in the 15's.
F you, your the one that said 15, maybe on that run, 7's would typical. I think you me and everyone else in the world know that was rigged. Nice try is a good name for you, you should keep it.
Thanks for telling me, I own 4 ski doo revs and a drag car.
where can i buy a k&n filter for the nytro, ive been looking all over and cant find em.
is that why Yamaha has taken the sled of the year for the past three years. 06 Yamaha Apex GT , 07 Yamaha Phazer, 08 Yamaha Nytro.
Snowmobile guy said he hit 129mph, that is good for about 11 sec 1/4. The dragster said he was good for 8 second 1/4 mile, to pull that off requires a trap time of around 170 mph... something is a little fishy with the math.
there went the credability of sledheads 24-7, not like i even get it anyways.
Damn right it never looked back!!
@TurbinePower69 "The INDEX is 8.90."
8.899 or faster is legally, in the rule book, a breakout. A breakout means you're disqualified unless (a) there is a foul start, (b) boundary line violations, or (c) the opponent is faster than you (double breakout, closer to index wins).
i pass through brainerd alot and pass right next to the track but never been there.
the nitro owns
Can you say throttle stop on?
it says they tested it against every other snowmobile, except, there is no ski doo they tested it against.
Fuel that burns slower, so you get more power out of it....
the dregster smart one
That dragster sounds like he's cruising down the strip at 2,500 rpm. Not even half throttle.
no Christmas tree, no radar and no timing clock. Hmm, anyone have any idea why not???? Guess it makes it easier to lie.
5:30 is the funnest part where they drag.
They did this on ASSphalt?
The driver of the drag car forgot to release the handbrake..lol
that dragster didn't even try
What yall don't relise that drag car is not a top fuel it runs on race gas not nitro not anything specail. A family friend has one they are only good for 9's or 10's
jsut love tinkering with them
i agree sleds belong in snow..but still intresting to watch
nice shop cuz
Looks like Chuck Norris was on the snowmobile LOL
So the Drag was on idle....
Rofl, He didn;t even pull his parachute
asssfault LMFAO i love it
great speed
Forgot to mention the dragster had a Geo Metro motor LOL!!
This...seems kinda fishy. they didn't time the race, so there's no quarter miles times, and you never really hear the dragster during the actual race. He had to have been soft shoeing it. looks like the dragster had a throttle stop on it
i like the fact they dont show the time slips... lol that dragster was supposed to run 7s... that run was like what... a 12?
it´s stock so far ... going to get a boondocker turbo and some other stuff to :P
There is no way that an 860 horsepower dragster would lose to that snowmobile, the guy in the dragster didn't even hit the throttle.
exactly how many plugs were pulled off the dragster for this race, 6 or 7? what a joke
Holy Shit 128 MPH... That's great!!!! However is that really true that the sled would beat that dragster? I think the dragster just let him win.
My 900 Zr ran it at 9.8 seconds at 133 mph. Stock. That dragster was not even acting like he had nothing. Didn’t even spin it’s wheels looks rigged to me.
Looks like a Yamaha commercial.
did the dragster even try? (looked rigged to me)
wow, that made the dragsta look SLOW
ehhh, i did see a teenage girl do low 7's in the 1/4 mile at the track near my house... talk about scary as shit! she's there running her modified snow mobile all the time
Dream on....anything can beat a junior dragster they're limited to somthing like 85mph.
the dragster was easin the throttle
That dragster said he runs in the 7's in the 1/4 mile which means that sled runs in the 5's!? Yea fuckin right this is so stupid.
Yeah that dragster was barely going, Cause that thing should be screaming off the line.
ok, dragsters are made for nothing other than speed. the snowmachine would not have had a chance in real world. good thing it was filmed in commercial dreamland where anything is possible!
FACK!! I thought this was going to be real!
dang i didnt know hauck was a national team ....i live 20 minutes from them
it was an 1/8 mile drag
woowww the dragster dindnt even push it enough
awe its a baby dragster
ppssshhhh promo video for yamaha
This chick has a hard accent!!
i have have seen snowmobiles run low 8 and high 7 but ya that dragster was not going all out
I'm gonna have to call B.S. on this one...
@jonathan102415je seemed the rail had a throttle stop on it
The problem is the Nytro makes 130hp-150hp. The CFR1000 makes near 200hp. And the CFR1000 weighs 50-80lbs less than the Nytro. The Yamaha Nytro will get smoked.
