For all those defending him, please read his daughter McKenzie's book High on Arrival that details her childhood and the years and years of drug abuse her father suffered and exposed his children to as well as the sick incestuous relationship they developed when she became an adult..her words are not those of an addict (by the way, he exposed his daughter to hard drugs and left needles lying all around the house when she was a child) slinging mud, they are an honest telling of the truth she experienced and the abuse she suffered at this sick man's hands.. shame on those who defend him
I’m amazed he speaks so coherently. If I took that many drugs there would be nothing left. When he brought up his and Roman Palanski’s paranoia, it brings home how completely divorced from reality drugs can take you. No wonder these people have no boundaries.
Correct. Cass was dieting to the extreme, more like starving herself. She died of malnutrition same as Karen Carpenter. Both became so weak their heart stopped.
Accusations that’s all. Mackenzie, after the sitcom of which she wasn’t even the star of faded into obscurity. She did drugs, blew her entitled life, and then plays victim by blaming Daddy for her failure.
@@kengarcia3834lol not like he didnt show a predilection for young women, he mentions here how he groomed Michelle from her young teens. He was a degenerate drug/alcohol addict. I believe her
Are you referring to Mackenzie? She didn’t go public with her story for almost 20 years after this interview and John had been gone for almost 10 by that time. But perhaps that’s not what you are referring to.
“Clearly”? Like based on this interview it’s just plainly obvious that he slept with men in addition to women? Are you deducing this based on his personality here? Are you detecting a little swish to his demeanor (as if no other creative or eccentric but heterosexual man ever displayed that) and therefore he liked the D as much as the other? Tell us what your definition of “clearly” is, would you?
Can't believe this was 42yrs ago. Wow. I loved this show. Bob was great. Mamas and the Papas were great too.
Hey now! We are not that old!!! 32 years...get on my lawn. Thank you for enjoying
What a great interview no denying John phillips gave a great interview he had a great witty disposition.
Guy was a genius. I met him when he was touring with Scott McKenzie

Here is my two cents on John Phillips: great musical talent, terrible human being.
Sad story really....he was messed up....still sad.
I was born exactly one year after this interview lol
"He was a juvenile probation officer." Ha. What a guy.
It's funny to believe that this was 33 years ago and he's talking about stuff that happened 30 years before that lol
I am shocked every 30 year old tape I digitize
Very interesting
I started recording Later because the conversations with almost anyone were fascinating
Absolute legend
Mike love of the beachboys didn't mention John Phillips when he talked about that Song Kokomo.
That's because Mike Love is an egomaniac who thinks that the world should revolve around him.

Denny was the man cass was amazing
"I heard her call my name," sounds like a good song title for somebody. I'll try adding lyrics to it after I finish "Drunk Hookup."
The Velvet Underground had a song with that title.
John was a rogue to put it mildly, but you can’t help but like the guy.
Great Great interview. No pretentiousness whatsoever.
This guy is a sick man.
Why?
Maybe cause he did his daughter 🤦🏻♀️
@@damianorinoldi6598 because he abused his damn daughter
Poor fella even his own daughter switched on him. Genius and we still listen to his work today.
Gross
Bob Costco needs to do his homework. Mama Cass did not choke to death! She died of a heart attack.
Yeah...so rude and unprofessional.

I think you mean 32. 1980 would be 42.
He’s a pervert. In the end he became an alcoholic.
Heroin addict.
Yeah was probably all three way back in '62, but he was a nice man.
@@Pimp-Master Yeah like graping your daughter, really nice man /s

I wonder if Costas knew about all the allegations at the time of this interview.
As most did I am sure...back then those were the off-limits topics. The stuff one pretended did not exist

@@EastSide-qc5oyI am sure it was and you are right that this was way before the situation was mentioned.
He's slurring his words a bit here.
Not surprising. He apparently had a lot of problems. Maybe guilt. Google him for some amazingly sick stuff.
