One thing that you should also be aware is that one or both of the property owners pass away, the property automatically goes to the heirs. So have your attorney draw up a contract stating that if and when that happens to the owners ( you never know) that the property is your's and the amount both parties argued is what the heirs will receive. Good luck
A piece of advise, start cleaning the property you already own, because of wild fires the rules in Portugal are very strict and owning land and not cleaning it can get you a massive legal fine, besides you want it clean in case of a wildfire. Doing it now before the summer heat starts is the best thing to do. Also any bonfires to burn the weeds and stuff, you need a permit ( again because of wildfires)
@@Mrandmrsadventure It's a big adventure :) But the cleaner it is, the safest for you and your trees and the house. Also the permit for a bonfire is not complicated, you just need to ask when you can do it, because during the summer it is forbidden, obviously, but they will know about weather conditions and the best days to do it. Clouded, slight rainy days.
To the first project should be to start strimming all the overgrowth. Fires are really bad in summer. Just look at Indie Projects property. You don’t need that to happen at the water mill. Good luck and love to you both.
@@cathybarrett5675 I thought the same, it was heartbreaking for them. Plus i am Portuguese, it's really problematic and heartbreaking to us all and a real worry.

Congrats on owning the land! I've been to Monchique and the area is magical. I almost bought a property there with 2 dams. Locals call it "this mountain"; even though it doesn't look like a singular, tall mountain, they are right: the whole area was once a giant volcano that got weathered down over the millennia. Monchique the town has a nice vibe, there is a thermal spa from hot springs in the area, and the air has that fresh mountain quality, and it's some of the cleanest air anywhere in Europe. Some of the plants growing on your land are probably edible: look for parsley and mint, possibly wild celery (careful to identify as there are some similar-looking dangerous relatives), and I''d definitely try out the squashes! (PS those are shamrocks / oxalis, not clover ;-) ... a lot of people confuse the two.)
Oh boy two years is going to go by fast. Sending you lots of love and prayers for smooth and easy construction and remodeling. You two are amazing. ❤🥰 Thanks for sharing.

We just bought 10 acres of forest on a mtn in Tennessee and had to go thru 911 to get an address, it was interesting. We understand that overwhelming feeling quite well, but its such a fun process if you can compartmentalize and not get overwhelmed, only 1 or 2 projects at a time. Let it unfold naturally, I have learned that the land will show you what it needs and wants. Congrats on your beautiful purchase!
My only suggestion would be work on the river as your first project. Install and water mill to turn a generator to charge your battery bank. It runs 24/7.

We live in a small community on the Oregon coast. We did not have mail service here until we banded together a little over a year ago and had meetings with the post master several times to have a cluster box put in our area. 2 small post offices were closed around that time and the closest one to us ran out of po boxes, so some people had to drive 20 miles to rent a box and pick up mail. The cost for a cluster box was around $100 per household and that was for the cost of the whole unit of 26 boxes, of course, it stays with the house forever. Now, no more 10 mile round trips for us to the nearest town to pick up mail at a post office box. So, this place had never had service here in the past and our house was built in 1948. We are so happy for the convenience now and that we collaborated on making this happen. Kathleen

So happy for you guys!! Both of your attitudes are such a lesson of life, that you only have control over how you react to the situation your given. I’ve been following for a few years now. Your mom sent over your RUclips channel and I’ve been hooked ever since. So thank you for allowing all of us to learn and be apart of your beautiful lives ❤️
Get some portable solar electric fencing, and a few goats to help with cleaning up all of the overgrown brush. Keep moving the portable fencing to different area's, and in no time your overgrown brush will disappear, while keeping your energy on the renovation of home... The goats can be a source of meat and milk living off grid depending on what type of goats you get.
Just to wish you lots of luck on the purchase of the 2° part of the property. I'm actually a lawyer in Portugal and understand exactly what you are being through, it can drive you crazy 😢 Don't give up please, my country can be defying sometimes, but it's worth it, the people are very nice (most of them😉). And for us, for sure you are going to make a difference, for the better, in that small town. Once again, all the best, and be patient, belive that everything will work out in the end. 💜💙💚💛
Wow! Just keep putting your positive energy toward it, and leap over the hurdles (big and small) as they present themselves. Attitude is everything. Yeah, who wants a condo by the beach! I completely support water mill restoration on your little piece of paradise. And cool waterfall!!!
Those refrigerators use ammonia absorption and a lot of times its as simple as being on an uneven surface can cause the ammonia to settle in a place that doesn't allow for proper Refrigeration. Happened all the time in our little 1974 boler trailer.
Drew and Brittany - great new camera ! Good luck in the near future to you both. Always work the problem, never let the problem work either of you. This is my last YT comment to you both for a long while. Cheers .
At least you can start working on your home. So relieved to hear that! I thought you’d have to wait 2 years and then start the improvements! That would have been horrible. What fun you’ll have!!!
You never finished explaining about how there was an open project aspect connected to the water milll and how that means getting the deed in your name fell through... because the big bug was whizzing around and upset Brittany.. How did it go from getting the deed in your name now to having to wait until all the construction is complete? And, you can do it. You have each other's support, you have faith and patience and are ready to learn!
Hi there! Sorry, as it's a complex thing to experience and explain. The current owner needed to sign the papers to have the construction permit reinstated before the expiration deadline (which was happening before our "closing date"). But then, when our "closing date" came, the camara (city hall) said they could not transfer the deed into our names because there was an open construction project in the name of the current owner and the only time the deed could be transferred into our name is once the current construction project is seen through to completion. Hopefully that helps explain it all a bit more clearly 🙏
@@Mrandmrsadventure Wow, that sounds so sketchy. I can only hope your lawyer is looking out for your best interests! Best of luck to you overcoming these massive hurdles.
Plz Be sure to have the Exact Specifications as to what improvements must be done. So when you think all the work is completed in a year or two, the city officials can't say you have to do more or it wasn't done in a way they approve of and won't give you the deed. I've seen b.s. like that happen. All the best and hope it all works out great!
Check out The Indie Project, they are an English couple who bought a little barn in Portugal and redid it into a cute home. They are now redoing a larger property in Portugal that was destroyed in a wildfire-before they moved into it.

That running water will give you all the energy you will ever need to power the house inexpensively. You can look on RUclips about how to do it!!! 😊
Can't wait until you guys have your full property! Keep your spirits up! I love seeing my homecountry in you videos (from Jacksonville FL)! 🤗
Do you follow thee Indie Projects? They were van lifers but bought a barn in Portugal that they renovated and now they have a farm in Portugal that they are repairing after fires and floods. You would love Bea and Theo. You have so much in common!
There was a reason you guys were drawn to this property. Keep hope and your positivity together. Hoping soon you will get clarity and finally own everything, as you deserve. I am sure you're doing all the research and using your common sense with everything as you're very sensible people. I love what you said in the previous vid about your Italian friends that they come across authentic. This is what i always feel watching you..that you're the type of lovely people we always meet on our travels..like we've known you personally for years. Anyway, wishing you ALL the luck. I bet there's many lucky clovers in between the weeds there, so don't give up hope! Love from The Netherlands
You have water and sun . Attitude matters and that’s what I enjoy about your stories. I’m certain there are many points of light reflecting ‘the force’ in your direction.
✨🙏💛💪✨
Wow guys... beautiful property. Hope everything goes smoothly from here on. Sounds like some wild challenges ahead, but you guys are up for it. Everything before has prepared you for this moment. Huzzah!
Sure has! 😊
enjoy the new journey, every second of it
The info that you guys are sharing about your journey is so inspirational and really gives us some great tips for our move to Portugal. Thanks so much for this channel. You guys are AWESOME!!!
If anyone can do this project, it's you two. Can't wait to see how beautiful you two make this home.
Best wishes on your new Portugal property venture ❤🧡💛 believe it will all work out for you two ❤🎉🙏
You two are amazing and I am so happy for you both. It’s not going to be easy but you’ve got this!!
Thank you for sharing your struggles and adventures. I really appreciate your optimism and recognition that growth isn’t always fun but a necessary part of life :)
So glad you have a lawyer you trust. One step at a time you will turn this beautiful place into a diamond. Sounds like it already has a history of love put I to it.❤
Buy yourselves a really good weed trimmer, gas powered Stihl for example. Then get steel wire lines for it not plastic. Make sure you also buy a face guard and hearing protection. It will cut through an amazing amount with ease. It will be worth every penny! I speak from experience.
So much truth to this Just wait till next weeks episode 😘
Congrats & Good luck! I'll be watching! 🙏✌️💕
Good luck with it all whatever happens it will be an adventure!
You have put so much good into the universe, you will get it back 10 fold.❤
Sending faith, hope, joy, energy, and will to go the distance your way 😊! I've been watching you guys for years. Don't think I ever commented on your videos before, but my heart was always in it. Love you guys ❤! Congratulations 🎊!
Well you guys can make it happen. Stay strong.
Happy you two are on this amazing adventure. I believe because your intent is coming from a good place and from your hearts things will work out in the end. There’s gonna many challenges that should make your relationship stronger and better BUT remember to always forgive and move on. Good luck on the build and getting the Mill property into your ownership. Aloha😊
So happy for you guys!! Both of your attitudes are such a lesson of life, that you only have control over how you react to the situation your given. I’ve been following for a few years now. I moved to Florida and your mom was one of the people my mom talked to in real estate! She was so sweet and although we didn’t buy from her but we get something even better, you guys! Your mom sent over your RUclips channel and I’ve been hooked ever since. So thank you for allowing all of us to learn and be apart of your beautiful lives ❤️
Congratulations! And good luck on your new journey! God Bless its so beautiful there! 🍀☘️
I think as you get things sorted out, It will all come together. I’m rooting for you😊
So exciting. Look forward to every video
All good things come your way, both deserve to peruse your dreams and make it happen…good luck
You got this! Patience and perseverance! ❤
We will be following you guys and loving all the changes you will make in the next 1 or 2 yrs. 🫶🫶👏👏💯💯💯💯🙏
Wow! Just keep putting your positive energy toward it, and leap over the hurdles (big and small) as they present themselves. Attitude is everything. Yeah, who wants a condo by the beach! I completely support water mill restoration on your little piece of paradise. And cool waterfall!!!
It is all about forging your own path. Love will sustain you along the road you are suppose to travel!
😍🙏❤️💪😘
Looking forward to seeing your journey! ❤
❤❤❤❤can’t wait to see more …bless u guys 🙏🏾
All in good time things get resolved and be patient in the long run that place is going to be a dream come true for you
Welcome to Portugal! Best wishes!hope everything goes well. Abraços
Those refrigerators use ammonia absorption and a lot of times its as simple as being on an uneven surface can cause the ammonia to settle in a place that doesn't allow for proper Refrigeration. Happened all the time in our little 1974 boler trailer.
What an AMAZING place!!!!! Congratulations!!!
Wishing you guys all the best, hope all go well.
Drew and Brittany - great new camera ! Good luck in the near future to you both. Always work the problem, never let the problem work either of you.
This is my last YT comment to you both for a long while.
Cheers .
I was at 13:20 before I figured out what “Toaster App” y’all were referring to! 😂 This tickled me so much.
At least you can start working on your home. So relieved to hear that! I thought you’d have to wait 2 years and then start the improvements! That would have been horrible. What fun you’ll have!!!
Happy Sunday
Love the caption
It is begin of your dream home at Portugal
Best of luck. Hang in there you will do great.
Pretty spot….courage for the journey ahead !
Wow so exciting!!! Can’t wait to watch your beautiful adventures. You got this. Have fun and enjoy what is to come.
Thank you so much!! A pleasure having you along for the ride ❤️💪
@@Mrandmrsadventure Thank you, a bit of a vicious circle. Will hold you in my thoughts as you work your way through this!
Seems a bit of a Catch-22.
@@Mrandmrsadventure Wow, that sounds so sketchy. I can only hope your lawyer is looking out for your best interests! Best of luck to you overcoming these massive hurdles.
@@colleenbalch328 Thank you. We appreciate all the thoughts around this ❤
Waiting for you to get the keys. So exciting. Good Luck, hope it goes smoothly.
Awesome guys. What a great outlook. Exciting to own your first property..eh!
Blessings from Frank and I (Fern) of Canada via Cost Rica (escaping winter of course). Next winter we're off to Portugal (south). Nice following you two.😊
Good thing you two are young and healthy. You have much work to do😊😊
But with faith , hope & love, you will be 👍
What a beautiful property to work on and such a big project! I can’t wait to see what you do with it!
