I adore these fans - I have all three now and all with the pointed blades which to my mind are much better looking than the rounder blade shape. To me these are the iconic shape of an 80s fan. And yes the 16” is so powerful and quiet for it’s size. What a great video!
I have the 9 inch and the 12 inch of the amber models like this. Both the 9 inch and the 12 inch I currently have are the Lasko branded variants with the 12 inch having the gold emblem in the middle of the grille. I also used to have an earlier model 12 inch Galaxy and a later model 12 inch Galaxy both in amber, but I don't have those anymore. My 12 inch Lasko model that I currently have originally had the earlier style rounded blades, but I replaced them with a NOS pair of the pointed blades that I was lucky enough to find in the original packaging on eBay. I have had both and found that I much prefer the later style pointed blades on these as opposed to the earlier style rounded blades. I like the look better, and they seem to be a bit quieter (or at least sound different). The rounded blades that came on my amber Lasko were also out of clock from the factory, so it never ran quite right. I also have a green 70s model Sears branded unit with the older motor style and piano keys. I have found that it is a much better quality design than these later ones. The top bearing of the gearbox for the oscillator is metal as opposed to plastic, which on my later Lasko has gotten worn out, so it clicks when oscillarting. It also has a metal sleeve where the rod that holds up the head pivots, where it is just plastic on the later models, so they also tend to wear quicker and get loose on the later models. I would imagine this is the same with the earlier 70s model blue ones with the same design, but I have never had one of those to verify. I also used to have the grey version in 16 inch, but I don't really know what happened to it, but i don't think I have it anymore.
I had the 9 inch model in my bedroom throughout high school in the early ‘90’s! My Grandma had the 12 inch version in her bedroom until her death in 2011. My “rich” Aunt and Uncle had the 16 inch at their home in Alpharetta, Georgia for 40 years before it died.
I like the pepsi coloured blades on these fans, although im not really in to these type of fans,im more of a fan of much older model fans, but those pepsi coloured blades is awesome
One of the fans (most likely the 16") seems to have a rather pronounced motor "whine". I've noticed this phenomenon in both my Lasko 18" pedestal fan and Optimus 16" pedestal fan as well.
If I remember correctly, my house came with a galaxy fan sitting under a 2002 whirlpool 8000 btu window ac unit (mint) in the great room of the basement.
@@fansandvintage2008 Seems like that zoom spout name has been either purchased from a different company or rebranded because it claims to be made for sewing machines now. Do you still recommend the newer "Zoom Spout for sewing machines" that I see available online? I see a few different brands. Supco looking older, and AlbaChem being the newer one. Not sure. Edit: Eh forget it, I guess it's easier just to get the 3 in 1 oil since it's less confusing. Has some generic branding but I trust that you know what you're talking about. Thanks man.

I agree, these are definitely an icon of the decade.

It is the 16.
I love that noise
there's also a 9inch with push buttons which is only made for about one year, It's really rare for a reason.
True
I am a big fan of these. I will likely sell some of my modern junk to charity which is the UK term for charity shop.
OK
Those are nice fans. I would like to see how you fix the clicking noise on the 16''. My fan has the same problem and I'm not sure how to fix it.
I will show it on video some day.

i nearly got one of these, but i got an outlet switcher from the '40s instead.
That is a cool trio of amber Galaxy fans, I Wish they were still being made. Instead of their generic Chinese junk that don't last.
Me too.
@@JordanU That color is nice.
Nice Trio Of Galaxy Fans
Thanks
Which one is your favourite series out of these sizes?
Hard work respected, which fan is the rattling come from, it sounds like the cage is loose and hitting somthing
The 9. It hasn't been serviced yet.
What oil do you use for the fans?
Zoom spout or 3 in 1 oil
