  • This is my first time fishing at Newnan's Lake in a long time! I was on the south side of the lake at Earl P. Powers Park, fishing along the canal. There is also a nice pier out there that you can fish from. There are a few other access points around the lake, and I plan on checking them out in the future! For today, I was using a few leftover minnows and shiners, and ended up catching a couple of mudfish (bowfin) and my first ever crappie! I have been seeing lots of pictures on fishbrain and FishAngler recently showing people catching LOADS of crappie (like 40!), so now may be the time to go. I have heard the north side is where the action is, in the area where Hatchet Creek enters the lake.

Caught some nice speckled perch off that dock with minnows.

I agree, the minnows worked the best for both bowfin (mud fish) and speckled perch (black crappie)!

I have been seeing you on several fishing apps and followed you for a while. Do you want to check out other new places like orange lake together?😁

Maybe! I don’t know how much bank fishing there is out at orange lake though. Don’t have a boat... Maybe a canoe soon.

@@GNVfishing I just DM you on fish brain lol. I fish bluegill a lot at Orange lake. But not sure if you are big fan of bluegill.

I like anything that bites! Started to appreciate all the different species! My kids love bluegill. Easy to catch quick for their shorter attention spans.

I was using some minnows and shiners I had leftover from a previous trip. It wasn’t my best day, but we all have those frustrating trips (breaking lines, losing fish)...
